독서지도 프로그램이 아동의 독해력과 어휘력에 미치는 효과

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect on the childrens vocabulary and ability to read. We will evaluate each student according to specific instructions before reading, during reading and after reading following the program of reading instructions. Tasks are as follows: 1. Are there any differences about improvement of childrens reading ability between the group that had this program and didnt have this program? 2. Are there any differences about improvement of childrens vocabulary between the group that had this program and didnt have this program? This research subjected 64 students within 2 classes of the 5th grade at k elementary school Su- Jong ku, Sung-Nam. We will take this program for 6 weeks among these students and will take the normal class by the textbooks for all these students. To assess each groups vocabulary skills and ability to read, we will give a diagnostic test in vocabulary and reading ability for all students. We made the statistics through SPSS/PC+ t- method with the result of these tests of after and before they have this program between the groups which take this program and which didnt take this program. Results are as follows: First, there is much improvement of their vocabulary of the group which took this program as we compare their progress by this statistics. Second, there is much improvement of their reading ability of the group which took this program as we compare their progress by this statistics. In summary, the result of this research tells us that children can improve their vocabulary and readability through reading instructions and we can see how much they had been improved through this statistics of the study.;독서 능력 향상을 위한 노력은 국어 교육의 한 분야이고, 주로 교육 과정의 읽기와 문학 영역이 교육내용에 독서와 관계되어 있는 요소가 많다. 본 연구는 실제 텍스트를 지도함으로써 아동들의 독해력과 어휘력 향상에 미치는 효과를 알아보아 국어(읽기) 교과서 외에 실제 텍스트를 이용한 독서지도 프로그램이아동의 독해력과 어휘력 향상에 미치는 긍정적인 면을 밝히고자 한다. 본 연구는 읽기 시간을 통하여 아동에게 독서 전, 독서 중, 독서 후의 단계별 독서지도 프로그램을 구성하여 적용해 본 후 초등학교 5학년 아동의 독해력과 어휘력 향상에 효과가 있는지 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이러한 연구 목적에 따른 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 1. 독서지도 프로그램 활동을 실시한 집단과 실시하지 않은 집단 간의 독해력 향상 정도에 유의한 차이가 있는가? 2. 독서지도 프로그램 활동을 실시한 집단과 실시하지 않은 집단 간의 어휘력 향상 정도에 유의한 차이가 있는가? 위 문제들을 연구하기 위하여 성남시 K초등학교 5학년 학생 68명을 대상으로 선정하여 실험 집단과 통제 집단으로 구성하고 실험 집단에는 독서지도 프로그램을 2001년 9월 6일부터 10월 10일까지 1회 40분씩 18회에 걸쳐 국어과 읽기 시간에 실시하였고, 통제 집단에게는 교과서 진도대로 교사용 지도서에 따라 읽기 수업을 실시하였다. 독서지도 프로그램의 효과를 검증하기 위해서 통제집단을 두어 실험집단과 똑같은 사전 평가, 사후 평가를 실시하여 기존 수업 방식대로 이루어진 학습과 본 독서지도 프로그램을 활용한 학습간의 차이를 비교하였다. 이를 바탕으로 독서지도 프로그램이 아동의 독해력과 어휘력에 미치는 효과를 검증하고, 평가 결과는 SPSS/PC+ 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 t-검증으로 통계처리 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 독서지도 프로그램 활동을 통하여 아동의 독해력이 향상되었으며, 그 향상 정도를 보면 독서지도 프로그램을 실시하지 않은 집단과 통계적으로 매우 유의미한 차이(p<.001)를 보였다. 둘째, 독서지도 프로그램을 통하여 아동의 어휘력이 향상되었으며, 그 향상 정도를 보면 독서지도 프로그램을 실시하지 않은 집단과 통계적으로 매우 유의미한 차이(p<.001)를 보였다. 이상의 연구 결과를 종합하면, 읽기 시간에 독서지도 프로그램을 활용함으로써 아동의 독해력과 어휘력을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 그 향상 정도가 통계적으로 유의미함을 알 수 있다.
