식물의 생명력 이미지에 관한 도자조형 연구

Abstract

미술의 역사는 자연이 가진 깊은 아름다움과 끊임없는 아름다움에 대한 동경과 외경의 마음을 가지고 자연을 스승으로서 배우는 역사라 할 수 있다. 인간이 의식적으로 아름답게 창조한 것이 아니라 그 자체의 원인과 필연적 결과로 말미암아 이룩된 것으로 그 아름다움은 인간 을 더욱 감동시킨다. 이렇게 스스로 생성·성장·소멸의 순환속에서 무한한 생명의 신비와 조화로움을 이루고 있는 자연은 인간의 조형활동에 끊임없이 많은 영향을 끼쳐왔으며 자연이 주는 생명적 이미지는 다양한 방법을 통해 예술가에게 표현하고자 하는 충동을 유발시키는 대상이 되어왔다. 이러한 자연이 주는 생명 이미지를 표현하기 위한 소재로 식물은 우리 주변에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 친근한 대상물이다. 우리는 아름다운 꽃을 보고 즐거워하고 신선한 화초를 보면서 생기를 느낄 수 있다. 식물은 외적 아름다움으로 우리에게 기쁨을 줄 뿐만 아니라 내재되어 있는 강한 생명력의 아름다움은 우리를 더욱 감동시킨다. 이는 식물이 생명을 가지고 자라며 적극적으로 변화하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 식물에 내재되어 있는 생명력의 의미를 추구하고 그것을 유기적인 형태로 생동감 있게 도자조형으로 이미지화 하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 본론에서는 자연이 예술에 많은 영향을 끼쳐왔으며, 끊임없는 소재가 되어 표현되어 왔음을 전개하였다. 그리고 식물의 생명력이미지에 관심을 가지고 작업했으므로 우리가 인식하지 못하고 지나쳤던 식물의 무한한 힘과 더불어 진취적이고 강인한 생명력 등에 대해 알아보고, 생존과 번식을 위해 모체가 미치지 않는 새로운 곳으로 생의 어느 단계에선가 여행을 해야하는 과정에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 또한 식물의 생명력을 표현하기 위해 동적 형태를 유발시키고 끊임없이 변화하는 유기적 형태에 관해 살펴보았고, 이와 함께 식물의 생명력 이미지를 표현한 선행 작품들을 제시하면서 조형적 특성을 살펴보았다. 작품의 디자인 과정에서는 식물이 가지고 있는 갖가지 모양의 꽃, 줄기, 잎의 유려한 곡선을 통해 생동감 있게 유기적으로 이미지화 했다. 제작방법으로는 유기적인 곡선의 미를 표현하기 위해 코일링 기법을 사용해 성형하였고 형태에 따라 판성형과 모델링 기법을 사용하였다. 또한 같은 크기의 작은 단위체를 반복해 표현할 때는 점토를 석고틀에 찍은 후 부분적으로 코일링 기법을 사용했다. 태토는 주로 석기질 점토를 사용하였고 크기가 비교적 작고 안정적인 형태는 자기질 점토를 사 용하였다. 유약은 형태의 입체감의 효과를 높일 수 있도록 다양한 색상의 무광택유를 주로 사용해 분무시유하였다. 소성은 1.5 m³ 가스가마에 서 900℃를 마침온도로 8시간 동안 1차 소성을 한 후, 2차 소성은 0.5 m³ <작품 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10>와 0.3 m³ <작품 2, 4, 9> 가스가마에서 9 시간동안 1250℃를 마침온도로 산화염 소성하였다. 이와 같은 과정을 통해 식물의 생명력은 우리와 밀접한 관계를 가지고 있는 소재이며 무궁무진한 창조가능성을 가진 소재라는 것을 알았다. 또한 자연이라는 대상을 주의 깊게 관찰하여 대상으로부터 나온 자신의 이미지를 풍부히 하면 표현도 풍부하게 발전할 수 있으리라 생각 했다.;The history of art is that of learning nature with continuous longing for the deep beauty of nature. Nature is created by its own reason and result, not by human intention, and its beauty impresses humans. Nature, harmonized with mystery of infinite life in the course of self-creation, growth and extinction, greatly affects human modeling activities, and its vital image becomes the object of inducing an artist's impulse of expression by various ways. As material for expressing this vitality image that nature gives, plants are the familiar objects we can easily find. We get pleased to see beautiful flowers and feel liveliness watching fresh plants. Plants give us pleasure, and their beauty of strong life inside impresses us more. This is because plants positively change growing with vitality. Accordingly, this study has a purpose to pursue the meaning of vitality in plants, and to image it with liveliness. The body of this study develops the fact nature has given great influence on art and become material for it. Also, it examines strong vitality and infinite power of plants we often overlook, and their journey to certain stage of life for survival and breeding since I work on it with interest in the vitality image of plants. Also, I looked at organic forms living existence for expressing vitality of plants. Suggesting the precedent works that express the vitality image of plants, this study examines their modeling characteristics. In the process of designing work, delicate curved lines of various-typed flowers, stems and leaves are organically imaged. As a producing way, coiling, slab building and modeling techniques are used following forms. Also, coiling is partially used in expressing small units of the same size after press-molding clay. Clay used for this work is mainly stone ware clay, and white clay is used for small-sized and secured form. For glaze, non-glossy glaze of various colors is used by spraying. For firing, the first firing is done at 1.5㎥ gas kiln at 900 ℃ for 8hours, and the second firing is done at 0.5㎥ for <work 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10> and 0.3㎥ for <work 2, 4, 9> kiln at 1250℃ for 9 hours by oxidized firing. Through this process, I found that vitality of plants are closely related to us, and has infinite possibility of creation. Also, I think expression of plants will develop if we rich the self-image of an object by carefully observing it.
