Edvard Grieg Violin Sonata in c minor No.3, Op.45 에 대한 연구 및 분석

Abstract

노르웨이의 영웅이자 민속음악의 상징인 에드바르드 그리그(Edvard Hagerup Grieg, 1843-1907)는 노르웨이 뿐 아니라 유럽 전체의 음악사적으로 볼 때 결코 빼놓을 수 없는 인물이다. 지휘자 한스 폰 뷜로(Hans von Blow, 1830-1894)는 그리그를 가리켜 ‘북구의 쇼팽’이라고 칭하였다. 그리그는 당시 유럽 음악계에서 뒤떨어져 있던 노르웨이 음악을 세계에 알렸을 뿐 아니라 프랑스 인상파 음악가들에게도 깊은 영향을 미쳤다. 그는 노르웨이 음악의 미래가 전통 음악의 재창조에 있다고 생각하여 자신의 작품에 뚜렷이 반영하였으며, 이러한 그의 노력으로 인해 노르웨이 최고의 작곡가로 불리어지게 되었다. 그는 1907년, 생애 마지막까지 노르웨이인으로서의 자부심을 자신의 음악에 쏟아 부은 음악가이다. 민속음악의 발달은 각 나라별로 그 의미가 달랐으며, 민속적인 소재(신화, 전설, 역사 등) 또한 차이가 있었다. 그리그는 노르웨이의 민속적 요소들을 다양하게 사용함으로써 자국민의 공감을 얻었다. 그의 대표작중 하나인 『Violin Sonata No.3』Op.45는 자유로운 소나타 형식의 곡으로, 제 1악장과 제 3악장은 발전부를 두지 않고 제시부, 재현부, 코다로 구성되어 있으며, 제 2악장은 3부 형식으로 이루어져있다. 이 곡은 노르웨이풍의 춤곡리듬과 화음의 사용으로 민속적인 색채가 매우 짙은 곡이다. 본 논문은 『Violin Sonata No.3』Op.45에서 나타나는 그리그 음악의 민속음악적인 특징을 노르웨이의 시대상황에 비추어 살펴보고, 실제 연주 기법과 비교하여 각 악장의 구조에 따라 분석, 연구해 보고자 한다.;Edvard Hagerup Grieg(1843-1907), a Norwegian hero and a symbol of folk music, is a very important figure for not only Norway but also for musical history of the entire Europe. Hans von Blow (1830-1894), a conductor, called Grieg the “Chopin of Northern Europe”. Grieg not only introduced Norwegian music that fell behind in the musical world of Europe to the world but also deeply influenced French impressionist musicians. Considering that the future of Norwegian music depends on the recreation of traditional music, he applied traditional music to his works. Through these efforts, he came to be become the best composer of Norway. Until the end of his life (1907), he infused his pride of being a Norwegian into his musical works. Significances of developments of each folk music were different according to each country. Moreover, subject matters such as myth, legend and history were all different. By using a variety of folk elements of Norway, he resonated with the Norwegian people. “Violin Sonata No.3> Op.45, one of his showpieces that used Norwegian folk rhythm and lyrical melody, is acclaimed as perfect. The main goal of this thesis is to study the theoretical features and techniques used in performances and to help understand them by analyzing Grieg’s “Violin Sonata No.3” Op.45 from a performer’s point of view. The 1st movement and 3rd movement take free Sonata form consisting of suggestion, reproduction and a coda of theme melodies. This is a typical example showing that Grieg’s music is not constrained by certain musical styles. Further more, this thesis is to help better understand his music through 1>studies on relations between situations of Norway in that period and Grieg’s music and 2>analysis of the characteristics of Norwegian folk music that are infused in his music based on each movement.
