에너지원으로서의 속도를 위한 표현 연구

Abstract

Today’s modern society so called as digital communication age, emotional age and informational age has been undergoing high growth rapidly. With the introduction of industrial age and rapid environmental change, people faced the change in life style and pattern. Thus, people began to accept technology as a pattern of life and the technology has been developed and evolved with incessant advancement to meet the people’s preference. The people’s instinct dreaming for better future continued to reveal hope and desire toward the speed. This has made a great contribution to the development of modern civilization by developing and creating tools and target for survival and became an opportunity which extended the domain of technology. The rapid technological advancement along with Industrial Revolution has made “Acceleration of speed” and the Acceleration of speed through Industrial Revolution brought higher advancement of technology. Again, this gave a birth to Acceleration of speed, forming a circulation spiral. The technological advancement could satisfy the needs of human and has allowed the people to enjoy various cultural lives, but it was not recognized only as a positive factor. Due to compulsive idea that I have to go faster than others, negative perception such as rejection and materialism were produced. While being wildly crazy over speed and pursuing rapid speed, people became to perceive the speed as a target to chase. Therefore, it is necessary to have correct recognition and conceptual understanding of how much the speed in the modern society plays an important role and how deep it has relationship with human. We, communication through diverse social networking in the large technologies due to the development of civilization, will continue our lives with more intelligent and convenient functions. As long as human beings evolve, the machine and technology will be advanced. This interaction will circulate as an important factor that can also change human consciousness. Consequently, the speed will exist as an energy source that can lead incessant development and changes of human society and a subject that can amuse human being at the same time. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to feel the necessity of conceptual understanding and correct perception of velocity in the high industrialization, deeply observe how it is perceived, to uncover the sensory experience that is created by combining the physical content “Speed” with emotional contents occluding with human being metaphysically and further to derive visual language using the pattern and colors that were reconstructed by approaching the concept of speed abstractly and ideologically. Generally, the common people perceive the speed as cold, stiff, mechanical and physical. Based on the conceptual understanding of how the “Speed” has been existed with human being, the researcher tried to change the mechanical and physical perception to one of living things. This is to see negative perception toward Speed as one of positive entities that are friendly with vitality. Also, automobile, which is representative symbol of speed and has characteristic that can be controlled by the driver’s skill, was chosen as a media of expression. As it was judged to be a subject giving enough emotion as an entity that can make relationship and consensus with human being as much, it was selected as an element of this study. Giving a feeling of vitality by combining mechanical and physical characteristic of automobile with human emotions such as joy and fullness, enjoyment and immersion, the process, I wanted to express the process that human being and machine become one body. It can be said as a conceptual approach that expresses that human being and Speed evolve and coexist in the process of dissection and transformation of the subject with visual language. This started from the perspective that it can be enjoyed beyond perceiving Speed as a target to chase and follow without disregarding the infinite energy spouted by Speed.;디지털 통 섭 의 시대, 감성의 시대, 정보의 시대라고도 불리어지는 오늘날 현대 사회는 빠른 속도와 함께 고도의 성장 과정을 거쳐 왔다. 급격히 빠른 속도로 산업화 시대가 도입되고 환경이 변화하면서 인간은 그에 따른 삶의 형식과 패턴에 변화를 맞이하게 되었다. 인간은 기술을 삶의 한 형태로 받아들이기 시작했고, 기술은 인간의 기호에 맞춰 끊임없이 진보하면서 함께 발전하고 진화하게 되었다. 보다 나은 미래를 꿈꾸는 인간의 본능은 속도에 대한 열망과 욕구를 끊임없이 표출해 내었다. 이는, 생존에 필요한 도구와 대상물을 개발하고 창조함으로써 현대문명의 발전에 크게 이바지하였고, 테크놀로지의 영역을 보다 넓혀주는 하나의 계기가 되었다. 결국, 산업혁명과 함께 급격한 기술진보가 이루어지면서 “속도의 가속화”를 만들어 내었고, 산업혁명을 통한 속도의 가속화는 더 높은 기술의 진보를 낳았다. 이는 다시 속도의 가속화를 낳는 순환구조를 형성하게 되었다. 이러한 구조 속에서 ‘속도의 가속화’가 초래한 기술적 진보는 인간의 다양한 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있게 되었고, 다양한 문화생활을 가능케 해 주었으나 이것이 긍정적인 요인으로만 인식 되어 진 것은 아니다. 남보다 무조건 빠르고 먼저 가야 한다는 강박관념으로 인해, 이에 대한 거부감과 물질만능주의라는 부정적인 인식을 낳기도 하였다. 속도에 열광하고 보다 빠른 속도만을 추구 하다 보니 사람들에게 ‘속도’라고 하는 것은 쫓아야만 하는 하나의 대상으로써 인식하게 되어 진 것이다. 그렇기 때문에 더더욱 우리는 ‘고도의 성장시대’라 일컫는 현대 사회에서 ‘속도’라고 하는 것이 얼마나 중요한 역할을 수행하고, 인간과 깊은 관계성을 맺는지에 따른 올바른 인식과 개념적 이해가 반드시 필요할 것이다. 문명의 발달로 거대한 테크놀로지 속에서 다양한 소셜 네트워킹으로 소통하고 있는 우리는 앞으로도 계속해서 보다 지능적이고 편리한 기능을 갖추게 되면서 살아가게 될 것이다. 인간이 진화한다면, 기계와 기술 또한 앞으로 진보할 것이며 이러한 상호작용은 서로 순환하며 인간의 의식 또한 바꿔놓을 수 있는 중요한 요소이다. 결국 속도는 인간사회에 끊임없는 발전 및 변화를 이끌 수 있는 하나의 에너지원으로써 존재하며 동시에 인간을 즐겁게 해줄 수 있는 향유의 대상으로써 존재 가능한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 사회현상 즉, 고도의 산업화 속에서 ‘속도’에 대한 올바른 인식과 개념적 이해의 필요성을 느끼고 과연 이것을 어떻게 받아들여야 할 것인지에 대한 깊은 성찰을 하고자 한다. 또한 ‘속도’라고 하는 물리적 컨텐츠를 인간과 맞물려 있는 정서적인 컨텐츠와 결합시킴으로써 창조되는 감각적 경험을 형이상학적으로 풀어나가고자 한다. 나아가, 속도에 대한 개념을 추상적, 관념적으로 접근하여 재구성 되어진 형태와 색을 이용하여 시각적 언어를 도출해 내고자 하였다. 보편적인 사람들의 인식 속에 속도는 차갑고, 딱딱하고, 기계적이며 물질적인 개념으로 자리 잡혀 있다. 본 연구자는 ‘속도’라고 하는 것이 인간과 함께 어떻게 역사하였는지에 대한 개념적 이해를 바탕으로 속도가 가지는 기계적이고 물성적인 인식을 유기적인 하나의 생명체로 전환시키고자 하였다. 이는 곧 속도에 대한 부정적인 인식을 보다 친근하고 생명감 넘치는 하나의 긍정적인 개체로 바라보고자 함이다. 또한, 속도의 대표적인 상징물이기도 하며 운전자의 능력에 따라 속도를 조절(control)할 수 있다는 특성을 가지고 있는 자동차를 표현의 매개체로 삼았다. 그만큼 인간과 깊은 관계성을 맺고 교감할 수 있는 하나의 개체로써 충분한 감성을 느낄 수 있는 대상으로 판단되었기에 본 작품의 요소로 선택하게 되었다. 자동차가 가지고 있는 기계적인 물질적 특성과 형태에 인간의 감정, 즉 기쁨과 충만, 향유됨과 몰입되어짐 등의 심상을 결합시킴으로써 생명감을 불어 넣고 인간과 기계가 하나의 동체가 되어지는 과정을 표현하고자 하였다. 이는 대상을 해체하고 변형하는 과정 안에서 인간이 속도와 함께 진화하고 존재한다는 것을 시각언어로 표현한 개념적 접근이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 결국 이것은 속도에 의해서 분출되는 무한한 에너지를 결코 물질적인 대상으로써 치부하지 않고 속도가 단지 쫓아야만 하는, 따라 잡아야만 한다는 인식에서 벗어나 보다 향유되어질 수 있다는 관점에서 시작되어진 것인데 이로써 현대문명과 인간의 관계성에 대한 이해를 돕고자 한다.
