근대 천황의 올바른 이해를 위한 서술 분석

Abstract

일본은 우리 나라와의 지리적 밀접성과 역사적 관련성에 비해 과거 식민지배의 역사로 인한 반일 감정으로 인해 세계사 교육에서 소홀히 다뤄져 왔다. 이러한 반일 감정들은 일본사에 대한 교육을 조금씩 외면하도록 하였고, 그 중 일본 천황은 일제 식민지 시대의 잔재로 취급되어 거의 다뤄지지 않았다. 본 연구의 목적은 고등학교 대상의 세계사 교육에서 일본 천황에 대해 올바로 알기 위함을 목표로 연구 성과를 활용하여 분석하였다. 일본은 서구 열강의 강제 개국으로 인해 불평등 조약이 이루어졌고, 이를 극복하기 위해 왕정복고와 제국주의 과정을 거치면서 아시아에서 유일하게 근대화에 성공하였다. 그리고 일본의 근대화 중심에는 천황이 있다. 이러한 천황제의 근거가 되는 일본 신화와 근대 천황제가 왜 강력하게 실시되었는지, 또한 이를 위해 메이지 정부가 행한 정치적 제도와 교육적 활동, 神道를 시민종교로 만들기 위해 국가 신도화 정책의 실시 배경과 진행 과정에 주목하였다. 본 연구는 역사 교육이 과거의 서술로만 그치는 것이 아니라 현재까지 이어져 오는 역사적 재생산에 관련하여 천황을 이해할 수 있도록 정리 하였다. 일본 신화와 근대 천황, 그리고 현대 일본의 상징이 된 천황을 분석하며 정치인들의 야스쿠니 신사 참배가 왜 문제가 되는지와 천황과의 유기적 관련성을 설명하도록 한다. 대부분의 언론에서 ‘일왕’이라 호칭되는 천황을 반일 감정으로 외면하지 말고, 제대로 배우고 학습하며 비판 또는 수긍할 수 있는 역사교육이 되어야 한다고 본다. 본 연구에서는 세계사 교과서의 근대화 단원을 중심으로 천황에 대해 언급된 내용과 일본 역사 교과서에서 나타난 천황의 서술을 분석하여, 침략의 대상으로 비춰진 천황의 모습과 국가의 상징으로 그려진 천황을 비교할 수 있었다. 앞서 선행연구와 한국․일본 역사교과서를 토대로 학습자가 천황에 대해 학습할 수 있고 교사가 수업에 활용할 수 있는 대안적 교과 내용을 제시하였다.;Japan is geographically close and historically relevant with our country. Nevertheless, Japanese history education has been neglected in the World History education due to the emotions of past colonial history. Anti-Japanese sentiment made us ignore Japanese history education. Therefore Tenno, treated as a legacy of the colonial era, has been misunderstood 'the Japanese emperor' and our education also declined to comment on it. The purpose of this study is for proper understanding of Tenno, when we teach Japanese history in high school. I analyzed a huge bibliography about Tenno at the point of the world history textbook. Japan concluded an unequal treatment with the countries of the Western powers in modern times. Japan achieved modernization in the process of Restoration and Imperialism in order to overcome this problem. As a result, Japan has been the only Asian country on the success of modernization. Tenno took on a central role in it. This study puts emphasis on Tenno, the basis of an Imperial Japanese mythology, and the reason the powerful imperial system was carried out. Therefore I take a note of the political system, educational activities and Shinto(Japanese Religion) to create a civil religion in the government of the Meiji Renovation. This study does not only describe the history education in the past, but alsomethodically organizes Tenno in order to understand the relation to reproductive history. As I analyze Japanese mythology, Tenno in mordern times and Tenno becoming a symbol of current Japan, I explain about the reason it is the controversy that the politicians visit the Yasukuni war shrine of worship, and about the interactive relationship between Tenno and political issue. I think we should not disregard Tenno due to a deep-rooted anti-Japanese sentiment but criticize it through the stronger education of them. In this study, I focalize on Tenno in the unit of the modern times of world history textbooks including the Japanese ones. Therefore I can compare Tenno between the symbol of the invasion and the faith of the nation. In based on Japanese history textbooks and our world history textbooks, I suggest an alternative curriculum about Tenno that teachers can use and students can learn about. Tenno is too deeply rooted in Japan called God's country. In this study, I organize the theme of Tenno which was not almost treated in history education. If we judge the history from a broad point of view, we can take priority over the relationship with different peoples. In my thesis, I look forward to having a future-oriented historical consciousness.
