남녀 중학생의 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 공격성의 관계

Abstract

자기에 대한 인식과 평가가 활발하게 진행되며, 자기개념의 내면화가 급속하게 이루어지는 청소년기에 접어들면서 청소년들은 실제 자기와 이상적 자기 간의 불일치를 경험하며, 그 가운데 우울을 경험할 가능성이 있다. 자기개념에 대한 다차원적인 접근이 시작되면서 자기개념 불일치와 우울의 관계에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되었다. 또한 우울과 공격성에 관한 선행연구들에서 다양한 연구결과들이 도출되었는데 그 결과가 비일관적인 경우가 많았다. 이에 본 연구는 기존의 자기개념 불일치, 우울, 공격성에 관한 연구들을 기반으로 하여 중학생의 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 공격성의 하위유형인 외현적, 관계적 공격성 간의 관계에서 우울감이 매개효과를 갖는지 알아보고자 하였다. 더불어 우울과 공격성의 성차가 보고됨에 따라 남녀 집단으로 나누어 네 변인간의 구조적인 관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중학생의 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치, 우울, 외현적과 관계적 공격성에서 성별에 따른 차이가 있는지 전체 연구 참여자를 대상으로 확인하였다. 연구 결과 외현적 공격성의 경우 남학생이 여학생보다 더 높았다. 그러나 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치, 우울, 관계적 공격성에서는 유의미한 성차가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 주요 변인들이 서로 어떠한 관계를 맺고 있는지 확인하기 위하여 성별에 따른 상관분석을 실시하였다. 남학생과 여학생 모두에서 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 우울간의 유의미한 정적 상관이 나타났고, 우울과 외현적, 관계적 공격성 간에 유의한 정적 상관이 나타났으며, 외현적과 관계적 공격성 간에도 유의미한 정적 상관이 나타났다. 반면 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 외현적, 관계적 공격성 간에는 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 중학생의 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 외현적, 관계적 공격성과의 관계에서 우울감의 매개효과를 알아보기 위해 구조적 모형을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 우울감은 남학생과 여학생 모두에서 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 외현적, 관계적 공격성과의 관계를 매개하는 변인임을 알 수 있었다. 결과적으로 청소년의 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치, 우울감, 외현적과 관계적 공격성의 완전 매개 모형이 지지되었다. 넷째, 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 외현적, 관계적 공격성과의 관계에서 우울감의 매개효과를 성별에 따라 살펴보기 위해 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치에서 우울감으로 가는 경로에서만 성차가 나타났는데, 여학생에 비해 남학생의 실제-이상 자기개념 불일치와 우울 간의 경로계수가 더 높았다.;This study examines the relationship of actual-ideal self discrepancy and the behaviors of depression and aggression. It further investigates the mediation effect of depression in adolescents. The test subjects of this study included 485 participants (251 boys, & 234 girls), all middle school students in Busan, Korea. Students were asked to complete questionnaires consisting of the Higgins' Selves Questionnaire, The Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression (CES-D), and excepts from the index of aggression by Crick and Werner (1998). Results were compiled and arranged in descriptive statistics using the t-test, Pearson's correlation method, path analysis and structural equation models generated by SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 programs. The results of the study are as follows: 1. There are significant gender differences regarding overt aggression. Boys displayed significantly higher scores with regard to overt aggression than girls. No significant gender differences exist, however, concerning actual-ideal self discrepancy, depression and rational aggression. 2. In both boys and girls, actual-ideal self discrepancy is positively related to depression; and depression is positively related to overt and relational aggression. Likewise, overt aggression was positively related to relational aggression. 3. With regard to mediating effects, depression was the mediator for actual-ideal self discrepancy and overt relational aggression in both boys and girls. As a result, the proposed model was evaluated by several fit indexes such as X², GFI, TLI, CFI, RMSEA. Every fit value was appropriate. 4. A gender gap and difference is noted in the model. More specifically, although actual-ideal self discrepancy affects depression positively in both boys and girls, male depression appears more affected by actual-ideal self discrepancy than with females.
