뿔랑의 연가곡 동물우화집 (Le Bestiaire ou le Cortège d'Orphée, 1919)에 나타난 초현실주의 시와 음악의 관계 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 20세기 프랑스의 대표적인 작곡가인 뿔랑의 연가 곡《동물우화집》(Le Bestiaire, 1919)에 나타난 초현실주의 시와 음악의 관계 연구이다. 《동물우화집》의 연구는 초현실주의 시인 아폴리네르(Gillaume Apollinaire, 1880-1918)의 시의 형식과 각운 구조, 어미의 변화, 음절 수, 시어의 상징성 등에 따른 곡의 구조와 음악적 표현을 분석하여 음악과 시의 관계를 알아내고, 곡에 나타난 뿔랑의 음악특성을 알아보는데 중점을 두었다. 그 결과 뿔랑의《동물우화집》은 다음과 같은 음악적 특징을 지니고 있다. 먼저, 뿔랑의 초기가곡에서 보이는 사티의 음악과 닮은 단순하고 반복적이며, 소박한 프랑스적인 음악특성이다. 6곡 모두 통 절 형식으로, 짧은 동기나 단순한 리듬 형의 반복으로 곡이 이루어지며, 반주부의 동형진행으로 곡의 통일감이 부여된다. 템포의 일관성을 중시하며, 악상기호의 지시가 매우 섬세하다. 다음으로는, 고전적 음악을 토대로 현대적 음악어법을 조화롭게 사용한 신고전주의적인 음악 경향이다. 정형화된 형식과 박자, 분명한 조성 감과 종지 감, 단순한 선율과 리듬 형의 반복 등 고전적 양식을 토대로, 반음계적인 전조와 변박, 비 화성 음을 통한 7화음과 9화음의 사용, 온음음계와 5음 음 계 적인 진행, 병 진행과 반 진행 등의 현대적 어법을 조화롭게 표현했다. 마지막으로, 초현실주의 시인 아폴리네르의 시를 선택하여, 시의 문학적 특성과 회화성을 그의 음악으로 표현한 노력이 엿보인다. 시의 구조와 음악의 구조가 긴밀한 연관성을 가지며, 가사 세팅이 각운의 구조를 바탕으로 이루어진다. 음화법적인 표현은 물론, 악상기호와 리듬을 통한 시각적 효과로 시어의 내재적 의미를 음악적으로 표현했다. 또, 음정의 도약이나 변박을 통한 감정 표현, 특정한 음정을 의미가 연결된 시어들에 반복 사용하여 상징성을 부여했다. 비록 초기 곡이지만 음악의 회화적 표현을 시도한 첫 작품이다. 이 논문을 통해 뿔랑의《동물우화집》이 가진 음악 특성과 초현실주의 시와의 관계를 이해하고, 곡이 지닌 가치대로 훌륭한 연주가 이루어지길 바란다.;This is to study the first song cycle, which go by the name of『Le Bestiaire』 in 1919, made by Francis Poulenc(1899-1963) who was one of the most representative French song composers of the 20th century. 『Le Bestiaire』is Poulenc's works in his early ages, as was he interested in social problems and as -sociated on good terms with many young painters and poets who live in the same age. So his early works show his characteristic and purity of his own music. Poulenc's works include classic forms and modern methods in harmony and rhythm. He was a member of Les Six, the young composer group made by Eric Satie and Jean Cocteau, and also belonged to Neoclassicism. As Poulenc compo sed many inspiring works to be part of his over 150 songs to the poems of Guillaume Apollinaire and Paul Eluard out of the numerous surrealistic poets, he is naturally called the illustrator of French surrealistic poems in the twentieth century. Because he was interested in many literatures, paintings, ballet, etc., so made an effort to put them into his works. Therefore, it was nature that Poulenc took his texts from the surrealistic poems which were in the main stream of art at that time his song are regarded to be modern in spite of the intrinsic lyricism and traditional elements of his musical style. As we have performance his songs, we need to know composer's music style and purpose and understand the poet and background. In 1919, Poulenc set 12 of the poems to music but on the advice of his friends, he published only 6 as 『Le Bestiaire ou le Cortège d'Orphée』from G. Apollinaire's collection of poems; it is a 20th century version of the medieval bestiaries-books in which acture or mythical animals are the characters in a story with a moral or religious purpose. It was important to Poulenc that the book included hand -printed woodcut as the medium of illustration by Raoul Dufy and inspired him. To understand Poulenc's songs, it is effective to look at the pictures as we read the poems. It is not only show that Poulenc's literary preference but also artistic. Poulenc identified a specific Dufy painting to describe his style Nogent. So, in other to fully understand and better perform Poulenc's music, the strong grasp of Apollinaire's poetry is essential. In this right, it was natural for the researcher to study the background of Apollinaire's works and the general trait and to know the relationship with Dufy and meaning of his illustrations before analyzing Poulenc's music. Also in the thesis, this reachercher puts the expla nation of each poem in 『Le Bestiaire』 before the analysis of the song cycle's each piece. I hope that this study will provide substantial help to people who performin 『Le Bestiaire』, one of the most important and representative compositions by Poulenc.
