Edvard Grieg의 Violin Sonata in C minor NO.3 op.45 에 관한 연구

Abstract

The latter half of the 19th century witnessed the birth of nationalism in music, which reflected a country's traditional materials and styles in the musical language of Classicism and Romanticism. Grieg, one of Norway's noted composers of nationalistic style music, studied music in Germany and was affected by the traditional German music. But he showed more interest in nationalism and made efforts to present Norway's national character musically. Violin Sonata in c minor No. 3, op.45 well reflects his nationalistic sentiment. It consists of total three movements. The first movement takes the sonata format of exposition, development and recapitulation and is characterized by the frequent appearance of mutual mimicking between the violin and the piano. The second movement takes the sonata format of A-B-A'. The pathetic melodies of A make distinct contrasts with the Norwegian dance rhythms of B. And the third movement is in a free sonata format with development omitted and has the Norwegian dance melodies as the theme. The major characteristics of the piece are the short motives that kept being transformed and developed in each movement and the adoption of Norwegian folk rhythms and melodies. Grieg Violin Sonata No. 3 is one of the great pieces that sucessfully reflected the national style on the foundation of Romanticism and revealed his own musical style.;19세기 후반 유럽 각지에서는 고전, 낭만주의의 음악어법에 자국의 전통적인 소재와 양식을 작품 속에 잘 반영한 국민주의가 등장하였다. Edvard Grieg는 노르웨이 국민주의 음악의 대표적 작곡가로 독일 낭만주의 음악에 바탕을 두고 노르웨이의 전통적 민속음악을 활용하여 자국의 국민성을 음악적으로 승화시켰다. 그는 서정 가곡, 피아노 소품, 실내악, 교향곡 등 자신의 모든 작품 속에 향토색이 짙고 모국의 민족적 정서가 잘 반영된 소재를 사용하여 독자적인 음악세계를 구축하였다. 「Violin Sonata in C minor NO.3 op.45」은 그리그의 민족적 정서가 뚜렷하게 나타나는 작품으로 노르웨이의 민속적인 선율과 리듬이 사용되며 진솔하고 소박한 실내악의 효과와 함께 협주곡의 효과를 느끼게 해주는 요소가 함께 교차되어 나온다. 본 논문에서는 그리그가 활동했던 시대적 배경과 음악적 특징을 알아보고 작품을 연구, 분석하여 이 곡을 좀 더 깊이있게 이해하도록 하는데 목적을 두었다.
