P.I. Tchaikovsky의 Variations on a Rococo Theme op.33 분석 및 연구

Abstract

19세기 말기의 유럽의 문화적 중심이 독일에서 프랑스로 옮겨가면서 그 당시 러시아 는 프랑스 문화에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있었다. 이에 P.I.Tchaikovsky는 러시아의 민족주의 음악을 토대로 서유럽의 전통음악을 흡수하여 자신만의 독창적이고 뚜렷한 주관적인 음악들을 작곡하였다. 그는 18세기의 양식으로부터 주제를 선택하여「Variations on Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra Op.33」을 작곡하였다. 이 작품에서 그는 일련의 기교적인 변주를 더하여 로코코 시대의 경쾌하고 우아한 양식으로서 화려하게 장식된 멜로디 라인과 간소한 반주로 구성된 갈랑(gallant)양식을 자주 곡에 대입하였다. 「Variations on Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra Op.33」은 7번의 변주가 간단하고 명료한 주제선율을 가지고 진행된다. 변주의 다양함을 통해 자유로운 변주곡 양식을 보이며 독주 첼로와 오케스트라의 조화는 변주곡의 효과와 더불어 큰 협주곡의 느낌을 주는 효과가 교차되어 나온다. 본 논문에서는 P.I.Tchaikovsky의 음악적 경향을 살펴보고 변주곡의 의미를 연구하여, 본 연구의 주제인 「Variations on Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra Op.33」을 좀더 자세하고 깊이 이해하도록 하는데 목적을 두었다.;The variations have been developed by themselves in human life and music for a long time. Therefore, the form of variations can be found easily from children’s songs to hymns. P. I. Tchaikovsky composed “Variations on a rococo theme Op. 33” at his age of 36. In the form of free variation, this music is played with simple melody and in free style. However, this music is difficult to be categorized as one type of variations since its theme was taken from those of 18th century, rococo era. Excluding an introduction and a theme, it consists of 7 variations. Some variations are played in the same tempo with the different impression, and the other variations are played in the different tempo with the main melody. It starts with five notes, E, D, C#, B and A, which play an important role in the following 7 variations. Variation was made on either rhythm or tempo while the fore mentioned five notes composed the main theme of each variation. He successfully demonstrated ingenious harmony between orchestration and cello solo which has influenced many composers and contributed to the development of 50 the variations and the concertos. In this music, he invented unique and versatile variations with simple and elegant themes and thereby significantly affected cello instrumentation and cello concertos of 19th century.
