과학의 변혁적 진보와 이론의 형식체계

Abstract

이 논문에서는 이론의 형식체계와 변형적인 진보에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 본인은 이론의 형식체계가 과학의 진보가 변혁적이라는 쿤의 논의에 중요한 근거가 될 수 있다고 생각한다. 이론이란 일정한 논리적인 구조를 갖고 있으며 자체 자율성을 갖는다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 이론의 특성을 살펴보기 위해서 이론의 형식적인 구조를 통사론 의미론으로 구분하고 이것을 논리적으로 연결시킴으로써 우리는 통사론과 의미론이 서로 연관이 있다는 것을 알게 된다. 그리고 이 구조를 MIU , PQ체계에 적응시켜 볼 수 있다. 이때 각 모형들은 그 이론체계내에서 자체 자율성을 보유하고 있다는 것이 보여진다. 또한 이러한 사실로 알 수 있는 것은 다양한 이론체계가 동시에 성립한다는 사실이다. 그러면 이론모형들의 다양성은 과학진보에 어떻게 영향을 주며, 과학진보를 고려해 볼 때 이론을 어떻게 선택할 것인가 질문하게 된다. 특히 과학의 진보에 영향을 주는 이론선택은 연구대상이 되는 현실로 부터 연구자의 주관적 판단에 따라 선별될 수 있다는 사실을 제시할 것이다. 이러한 사실을 정당화하기 위해 토마스 쿤의 이론을 고려한다. 또한, 그의 이론의 구성요소인 '패러다임'과 '정상과학'은 과학진보는 변혁적으로 진행된다는 것을 말해준다. 그러나 동시에 패러다임 개념안에 논리적인 특성을 발견한다. 본인은 쿤의 이론전개에 부분적으로 동의하면서 그의 패러다임 개념안의 논리적 구조를 보완코자 한다. 그런데 과학의 변혁적 진보를 받아들일때 과학의 진보는 끊임없이 잠정적이라는 점진적 진보에 대해서 반박하게 된다. 즉, 이것은 과학의 합리성에 대한 부정으로 포퍼에 의해 강조된 객관주의적 진리관을 포기하는 결과이기도 하다. 왜냐하면 쿤의 변혁적 이론관에 근거한다는 사실은 이론선택에서 상호비통약성을 인정한다는 것이고 이때 우리는 상대주의적 진리관에 입각하기 때문이다. 결국, 쿤의 이론을 제시함으로써 과학의 고유한 가치란 언제나 객관성을 보유할때라는 종래의 과학관에 새로운 과학관을 제공하는 계기가 되며, 과학의 진보는 일관적이고 타당한 주관적인 이론의 다양한 구성을 통해 변혁적으로 진행된다는 사실을 제시하게 된다. 그리고 각 이론들은 자율성·논리성을 갖고 있기 때문에 이론들은 상호비통약적이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 과학의 진보는 변혁적이다.;In this paper, I deal with the formal system of theory and the Revolutionary progress of science. The formal system of theory can be a decisive foundation to support Kuhn's thought, 'scientific progress is revolutionary'. From the studying of the models of theories, I infer that theories have consisted of con sistently logical structures and autonomous systems. In this process of researching characters of theories, first, I divide the formalistic structures of theory into syntax and semantics. Secondly, I connect syntax and semantics logically. I know from this research the fact that syntax and semantics are correlated closely. As these formalistic structures are applied for the system of MIU, PQ, the fact that models of theories are autonomous in the systems of theories themselves can be shown. I can also know that various systems of theories can be compatible simultaneously. There remain two problems that how we can give the scientific progress the influence of the variety of theories and how we can choose a theory among many theories for the same aspect considering the scientific progress. As for Thomas Kuhn, the theory can be chosen by the subjective judgement of researcher from fact. We can tate the theory of Kuhn possible by scrutinizing the concept of paradigm and normal science. Yet simultaneously I find the logical characteristic in the concept of paradigm. I expand my theory not only supporting Kuhn's theory in a sense but also manifesting the logical structure in the concept of paradigm. Kuhn insists that the scientific progress proceeds revolutionarily. His this idea is the negation of scientific objectivity insisted by Karl popper and rejects scientific objectivism by him. Because the process of science is constantly progressive with the point of view of scientific objectivism. I can say that when we accept the concept of incommensurability in choosing theories, we always found on the truth view of relativism. The theory of Kuhn divaricates from the traditional view of science, that is, the inherent value of science always has objectivity and gives us new point of view of science. And each theory is incommensurable because it has autonomy and logicality in itself. This fact makes 'the revolutionary progress of science' possible.
