<穆天子傳> 試析 및 譯註

Abstract

≪穆天子傳≫은 西晉 초 泰康 2년에 汲縣 사람인 不準이 魏 襄王의 무덤을 도굴하다가 발견한 竹書 가운데 하나이다. 晉代 郭璞이 註를 달았고 모두 6권으로 이루어져 있다. 내용은 穆王이 여러 지역을 돌아다니며 여행하는 것으로 환상적인 신화의 성분이 잘 보존되어 있다. ≪목천자전≫의 가치는 크게 두가지로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 첫째, 고대의 신화적인 성분이 잘 보존되어 있다는 점이다. ≪목천자전≫은 신화적 세계관을 잘 표현하고 있으며 여러 신들의 형상과 世界大山, 世界樹와 같은 신화적 상징들이 잘 보존되어 있다. 그러므로 중국 신화의 본질을 탐색하기 위해서는 ≪목천자전≫에 대한 선행적인 연구가 더 없이 緊要하다. 둘째, 신화서이면서도 역사서적ㆍ지리서적 성격을 지니고 있어 다양한 각도에서 읽혀질 수 있다는 점이다. ≪목천자전≫은 일정한 역사 서술의 체제를 취하고 있고 광대한 지역에 걸쳐 허다한 사물에 대해 描述하고 있기 때문에, 고대의 역사, 사회, 종교 등 다방면의 정황을 살펴볼 수 있게 한다. 그러나 이러한 연구가치에도 불구하고 국내ㆍ외의 ≪목천자전≫에 대한 연구성과는 아직 微微하다. 특히 국내의 경우는 연구가 全無한 상황이다. 본고에서는 이러한 상황을 고려하여 앞으로의 본격적인 論究를 위한 기초작업으로서 ≪목천자전≫의 성립, 성격 등에 대한 개괄적인 검토와 아울러 초보적인 내용 분석을 시도하고, 全書에 대한 譯註를 시행하였다. 이에 따라 본고의 논의는 크게 2부분으로 나뉘어 진행되었다. 제 1 부는 ≪목천자전≫에 대한 개략적인 서술 및 試析 부분으로 모두 5장으로 구성된다. 제 1 장에서는 본격적인 논의에 앞서 기존의 연구에 대하여 검토를 하였다. 제 2 장에서는 앞에서 살펴본 기존의 연구를 바탕으로 ≪목천자전≫의 작가와 성립 시기에 대하여 추론해 보았다. 그 결과 역사적인 배경과 문학적인 특성으로부터 ≪목천자전≫은 戰國時代 魏나라의 史官--巫의 성격이 농후한 --에 의해 쓰여진 작품임을 알 수 있었다. 제 3 장에서는 역사서적, 지리서적, 소설ㆍ신화서적 각도에서 조명해 봄으로써 ≪목천자전≫의 다양한 성격을 살펴보았다. 제 4 장에서는 ≪목천자전≫의 신화ㆍ종교적인 성분을 例示的으로 분석함에 있어서 ≪목천자전≫의 세계관을 살펴보고 山嶽과 玉의 2가지 특징적인 사항들을 선택하여 분석하였다. 제 5 장에서는 ≪목천자전≫의 소설사적인 의의와 후대 문학에의 영향을 다루었다. 제 2 부는 ≪목천자전≫에 대한 역주 부분이다. 곽박이 주를 달고洪&#38947;煊이 교감한 판본을 저본으로 하고 顧實의 ≪穆天子傳西征講疏≫, Remi-Mathieu의 ≪Le Mutianzi Zhuan≫을 참고로 하였다.;Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) is the one of Bamboo Books(竹書) found in West Jin dynasty(西晋) by Buzhun(不準) who is a person at Ji xuan(汲縣) robbed a grave of emperor Yang(襄王) of Wei(魏). Guopo(郭璞) of Jin dynasty(晋) annotated, and it is composed of total 6 volumes. The content is that emperor Mu(穆王) takes a trip, wandering from place to place. Then the components of visionary mythology is being preserved well. The value of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) may be classified into two kinds largely. First, the ancient mythological components are being preserved well. In Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) the original form of mythology such as the form of many Gods, mountian of universe, and world tree is being preserved well in mythological world view. So, so as to examine the source stream of mythology, the study on Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) will have to be preceded, above all. Second, as Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) has the character of history and geography as well as mythology, it can be read from the divers viewpoints. Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》)is being written with the constant form of history, and many place and nature names are appearing in it. Thus, it enables one to examine the versatility such as ancient history, society and religion etc. But, In spite of study value, it is the real situatuon that the professional thesis as well as the work of translatidn and annotation about Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) has not come out yet inland, and it is difficult for us to find them outland also. In this study, on the basis of this fact, this researcher tried to illuminate the diverse character of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) with the work of translation and annotation, and tried the mythological and religious analysis. This study progresses by being classified into 2 parts largely. The first part is composed of 5 chapters as the part of rough description and experimental analysis about Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》). In chapter 1, this researcher examined about the existin study before fullscale discussion. In chapter 2, this researcher induced about the writer and formation time of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》), on the basis of existing study examined above. As a result, it could be seen that Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) is the work written by the historiograper of Wei(魏) at the Age of Warring States(戰國時代)-the character of shaman is thick. In chapter 3, the diverse character of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) was examined, by illuminating from the viewpoint of history books, geography books and mythology books. In chapter 4, this researcher tried to analyze the mythological and religious components of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) experimentally. This researcher examined the mythological and religious world view of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》), and selected and analyzed characteristic '2 kinds of mountian and jade. In chapter 5, this researcher handled the significance of novel history of Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) and the influence of literature of next generation. The second part is the part of translation and annotation about Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》). The researcher sought the exact understanding about original text, through the work of translation and annotation. On the basis of this primary work of translation and annotion, the mythological analysis about Mu Tianzi Zhuan(《穆天子傳》) will be helpful to finding out many meanings hidden in it. And it will be enable us to examine the sympathy zone of mankind in base of all the literature derived from mythology.
