고연령층 사용자의 친숙성을 고려한 휴대폰 UI 연구

Abstract

한국사회의 고령화, 휴대폰 주요 사용연령대 시장의 포화 등에 의해 시장에서 중요한 화두가 되고 있는 것이 고연령층 사용자들이다. 그들의 라이프 스타일은 점차적으로 휴대폰의 활용과도 밀접하게 관련되어 가고 있다. 또한 이용에 있어서 더 이상 통화기능만의 단순기능만을 추구한다고 단정지어서 말할 수 없게 하며 그들에게도 휴대폰을 통해 이루고자 하는 다양한 요구가 존재하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 최근 국내 출시되고 있는 휴대폰은 여러 타겟층의 요구를 반영하여 다양한 기능들을 갖추어가고 있다. 그러나 고연령층을 포함한 다양한 사용자층에서 친숙하지 못한 세부메뉴 용어나 복잡한 메뉴구조로 인하여 이런 편리한 기능들을 제대로 활용하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 인지적 측면에서의 고연령층이 가지는 두려움, 부적응적 측면을 해소할 방법으로 메뉴구조와 메뉴 용어의 고려을 통한 ‘친숙성’에 초점을 두고 적절한 UI를 제시해보는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 60세 이상 휴대폰 사용자들을 조사하고, 선행연구나 문헌고찰, 사례조사 분석을 통하여 문제점과 개선점을 발견해보려고 하였다. 연구의 마지막 단계로써는, 다양한 연구의 접근 방식을 통하여 나타난 발견점을 참고하여, 고연령 사용자들에게 친숙한 메뉴구조와 용어가 적용된 프로토타입을 제시하였다. 고 연령층의 모바일 라이프에 대한 문헌이 부재한 시점에서 이번 연구를 통하여 그들의 생활에서의 실제적 사용 동기와 현황을 알아볼 수 있었다는 데 의의가 있으며, 이를 통해 고 연령층 사용자들의 모바일 라이프를 단편적으로 추측해 볼 수도 있었다. 또한 일반적인 인식과 다르게 현재의 고 연령층 사용자들은 생각보다 높은 사용의지와 관심을 가지고 있었으며, 현재의 고연령층에게도 휴대폰은 젊은이에게서와 같이 필수적인 미디어 기기임을 확인해볼 수 있었다. 본 연구는 고령층 휴대폰 사용자들의 1차적으로 사용자의 휴대폰 활용 증대를 가져올 것이며, 21세기 성장이 기대되는 고령친화산업의 확대에 발맞추어 미래 노인들의 정보격차를 줄이는 데에 도움이 될 것이다.;With full saturations of current young mobile users and graying Korean society, it is the group of senior age that has become a major issue to be most talked about. Senior life styles are gradually getting close to more advanced uses of mobile phones. They now do not just only use simple calling functions, but also desire to fulfill many needs through mobile functions. Latest local mobile phones are getting equipped with multiple functions that reflect various needs from different targets. However, those multiple functions are not properly taken advantage of by seniors and other age groups due to complicated menu structures and manuals. This study aims to suggest UI designs on “senior user-friendly” that takes into account of menu structures and terms to relieve such fears of maladjustments. It has been conducted to find problems and solutions through researches on users over 60’s, pre-conduct studies, documents and case study analysis. As the last step of the studies, final prototypes were suggested that “senior friendly” is applied to the menu structures. The “friendly” solutions are achieved through various approaching methods and studies. At a point where sufficient documents are not much available on senior group mobile life styles, special meanings could be given to this study in its effort to find real life user life styles. It is possible to guess its mobile life fragmentarily through this study as well. However, it gives a rather different confirmation to what we had originally perceived in senior users, In such a way, they do have stronger wills and interests in mobile uses and take them as a necessary part of their lives. Primarily, this study will bring increase on effective mobile uses from seniors and help reduce the information gap apace the current developments in 21st century on so-called graying-friendly industries.
