This study looks on how socio-cultural factors lead to infection of HIV/AIDS in Zanzibar. The underlying peculiarity characteristic of Zanzibar society with strong Muslim religious, cosmopolitan cultures and physical position of the Island produces socio-cultural practice that lead to impact men and women differently with HIV/AIDS. The main findings revealed in this research are; there are measurable correlation between gender and social-cultural practices found within the society. Also, there are certain factors that affect men which include myths regarding masculinity, practices such as men having sex with other men and injection drug users and other factors that indirectly affect women including the increase in divorce, sexual relation within marriage as well as stigma and discrimination. Conclusively, the study finally found that these factors significantly produce the mixed picture of concentrated and general population type of HIV/AIDS epidemics in Zanzibar which affect men and women respectively.;이 논문은 잔지바르의 사회ㆍ문화적 요인이 HIV/AIDS 확산에 어떤 영향을 미치는가에 대해 연구한다.
