옵티컬 패턴의 선을 응용한 트렌스포머룩

Abstract

조형예술이란 창작자의 의도에 의하여 조형요소와 조형원리에 의하여 다양한 ‘시각적 조형물’을 만드는 것이다. 조형예술에서 현대 섬유 디자인의 발전은 변화된 디자인 개념, 다양한 소재와 기법과 함께 빠르게 발전하여 나아가고 있으며 새로운 시도는 예측을 불허하고 있다. 섬유 디자인에서 소재와 패턴과 색상의 문제는 트랜드와 함께 중요하게 다루어지는 요소로서 그 중요성은 우리 모두가 알고 있는 바이다. 본 연구자는 이러한 현상 중에서 소재, 패턴, 색상과 함께 디자인 아이템의 중요성을 인식하여 다양한 연출이 가능한 패션에 적용시켜 새로운 섬유 제품디자인의 디자인 방법론을 제시해 보려고 한다. 옵티컬(Optical)패턴은 그래픽 표현으로 1960년대 옵·아트 (Op Art)로부터 시작하였고, 옵아트의 주요 주제는 눈의 착시효과를 일으키는 그래픽효과에 있었다. 1960년대 패션계에서도 주요 모티브로 사용되기도 했던 옵티컬 이미지는 미니멀리즘의 영향을 받아 옵아트 작가의 작품 이미지를 그대로 차용하였다. 이러한 옵티컬 이미지는 단지 형태와 색만으로도 시지각적 착란을 가져오며, 동시에 문양처럼 느껴짐으로써 디자인 원리에 적합하게 응용되어 이미 조형예술 분야와 생활 분야에서 디자인과 예술 작품으로 다양하게 표현되어 널리 알려진 표현 양식이 되었다. 본 연구자는 옵티컬 패턴의 선을 응용하여, 핸드 컷팅(Hand Cutting)기법과 축융(Felting)가공 기법을 이용하고 평면적인 패턴디자인을 연구하는 기존의 섬유디자인에 대한 전통적 접근방식을 탈피하여 감성시대가 요구하는 창의적 디자인의 변화가능성을 추구하는 트렌스포머룩(Transformer look)을 제작하려고한다. 본 논문의 연구내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 옵아트의 개념과 형성배경, 작가의 작품 특징과 현대패션에 나타난 디자인 사례를 수집하여 문헌연구를 한다. 둘째, 옵티컬 패턴을 이용하여 패턴을 연구하고 소재와의 적합성을 연구한다. 셋째, 표현기법인 핸드 컷팅(Hand Cutting)기법과 축융(Felting) 가공기법의 특성을 자료를 통하여 연구한다. 넷째, 디자인 8그룹의 23점의 다양한 연출이 가능한 트렌스포머룩(Transformer look)을 제작한다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 옵아트의 시각적인 특성은 1960년 이후 2000년대 이르기까지 다양한 디자인 분야에 도입되어 사용되고 있으며, 특히 섬유디자인 분야에서는 다양한 소재에 접목함으로서 새로운 해석의 가능성이 열려있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 옵티컬 패턴의 크기와 배열의 변화에 따라 새로운 디자인 개발의 가능성을 확인할 수 있었고, 더 많은 옵티컬 패턴을 다양하게 활용한다면 디자인과 실용성을 갖춘 아이템을 창출 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 핸드 컷팅(Hand Cutting)기법과 축융(Felting) 가공기법만으로 봉재선 없는 다양한 연출이 가능한 패션디자인를 제시할 수 있었다. 넷째, 감성시대가 요구하는 창의적이고 혁신적인 디자인의 가능성은 디자인 방법론의 변화로 가능하다는 교훈을 얻었으며 연구자의 브랜드 창출의 가능성을 함께 확인할 수 있는 것은 본 연구의 큰 결실이라고 생각한다. 앞으로 본 연구의 결과에서 나타난 내용들을 지속적으로 연구 개발하여 자체 브랜드 창출의 가능성을 가시화 시키는 것이 남은 과제라고 생각한다.

;Structural art is expressed as various 'visual structure' by structural factor and principles of creator's intention. In structural art, the development of modern fabric design is rapidly improving along with various material and method, changed design concept and the new trials are dare to be expected. The issue of material, pattern and color, for the fabric design, are important factors as well as trend so we all are aware of the significancy. Among these phenomena, the researcher recognized the importance of design item along with material, pattern, color to apply to fashion which enables various directions for the suggestions of design methodology of new fabric product design. Optical means 'the graphic expression that causes the optical illusion' which was started with Op Att and the main theme was in graphic effect causing the illusion. The optical imaged used as main motive in the fashion industry in 1960s, is affected by the minimalism and used the image of Op Artist. These optical images were the very exposure of the ideology of young generations in that era and was the new expression style which the period required. The optical pattern has the character of bringing strong optical induction to the viewer by intentional and technical consideration of the artist. The optical image brings the visual illusion only with its shape and color, and at the same time, it is considered like a pattern so is appropriately applied to the design principle so that it already became a widely known expression style by variously presented as an art piece and design in structural and life art. This researcher applies the line of optical pattern, to be out of traditional approach to previous fabric design that studies flat pattern design by using hand cutting method and miling process but to produce transfer look which aims possible changes of creative design requiring the era of emotion. The research details of the study are as below. First, the document study of concept, construction back ground of Op Art, character of pieces. Second, it was possible to express optical pattern in slash pattern, contract to express into 3D pattern and it was also possible to confirm the unlimited design possibility by the changes of size and allocation of optical pattern. Third, research via data for the properties of hand cutting and miling process. Fourth, produce 8 design groups of, total 23 pieces of transformer looks with various directions. The result through the study procedure is as below. First, we understood that the visual character of Op Art is introduced to the various design sectors until the modern period and particularly in fabric design area, it was applied to various material which suggested the possibility of new analysis. Second, it was possible to express optical pattern in slash pattern, contract to express into 3D pattern and it was also possible to confirm the unlimited design possibility by the changes of size and allocation of optical pattern. Third, it could suggest fashion design that enables various directions without any stirches only via hand cutting and miling process. Fourth, it was understood that the possibility of creative and innovative design that the era of emotion requires is achievable with changes in design methodology and it is thought that the confirmation of creation possibility for the brand of researcher is the important result of this research. Later, the given task is the visualization of what we have seen in this research result with continuous research and development for the possibility of creating new brand.
