영어 번역투 문장 다시 써 보기를 통한 국어 문장 쓰기 지도 방안 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 국어학과 국어교육학에서 사용 빈도가 높고, 작문교육이나 문법교육에서 그 중요도가 높으나 실제 문법 교육에서는 거의 다루고지지 않고 있는 외국어 번역투에 주목하였다. 본 연구는 일상적 글쓰기에서 빈번하게 나타나는 번역투 사용에 대한 관심에서 출발하여 번역투의 개념을 규명하고 이 가운데 그 중요도가 높다고 판단되는 영어 번역투로 논의를 좁혀 그것을 국어 교육적 관점에서 다루어보고자 했다. 그 구체적인 내용으로 번역투의 기능과 특성, 영어 번역투의 유형을 살펴보고 중, 고등학생의 문장 사용에서 영어 번역투 사용실태를 조사하여 영어 번역투를 대상으로 하는 국어 문장 쓰기의 지도 방안을 마련해보고자 했다. 기존의 문법 교육에서는 고등학교 교과서에서 번역투를 매우 간단하게만 언급하고 있으며 잘못된 번역투를 고친 대안 문장만을 제시할 뿐 그 과정에 대한 상세한 문법적 안내를 제시하지 않고 있다. 기존의 번역투 연구물 또한 외국어 번역투와 그것의 유형을 제시하여 실제 글에서 찾아 그것의 사용 양상을 조사하긴 했지만 중, 고등학생의 실제 글과 관련하여 번역투의 사용 실태를 연구하지 못했다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 먼저 번역투에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통해 교육적인 관점에서 번역투를 다루고자 하였다. 번역투의 정체를 규명하기 위해 번역투의 성격과 특성을 분석한 결과 본고에서 정의내린 번역투란 '직역 위주의 외국어 번역 과정에서 비롯된 말로 모국어의 언어구조에 맞게 순화되어야 할 말'이다. 번역투의 개념을 정립한 뒤에는 여러 외국어별로 번역투를 간단하게 다루면서 그 중에서 영어 번역투에 대한 논의를 자세하게 다루었다. 영어 번역투의 유형을 정립하기 위해 그 대상이 되는 유형을 하나하나 분석했고 영어 번역투의 유형 정립은 기존의 연구를 바탕으로 하되 연구자의 선택에 따라 첨가 혹은 삭제하기도 했으며 되도록 이면 기존의 연구물에서의 번역투 유형보다 세부화하고자 하였다. 영어 번역투의 유형을 정립한 후에는 그것이 실제 중, 고등학생의 글에 어떻게 나타나는지 알아보기 위해, 중학교 3학년과 고등학교 3학년 학생들의 논술문을 수집하여 번역투 사용양상을 파악하고 그 빈도와 내용을 분석하였다. 실제로 영어 번역투는 학생들에 의해 매우 빈번하게 사용되고 있었으며 그 교육적 지도의 내용이 필요해 보였다. 본고는 이에 따라 번역투 문장을 지도할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 단, 적절치 않은 번역투 문장을 바르게 고쳐보고 그러한 과정에서 문법 지식을 습득하여 문장 능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 하기 위해 번역투 문장을 '다시 써 보기'의 과정을 통해 번역투 문장을 지도할 수 있도록 방안을 제시하고자 했다. 본고는 학습자들로 하여금 번역투의 개념과 유형을 제대로 알고 사용하여 잘못된 문장과 바람직한 문장을 구분할 줄 알게 함으로써 보다 좋은 글쓰기를 할 수 있도록 하는 데 목적이 있다.;This research focuses on the education for translation of foreign language, which is not often covered in the area of grammar teaching despite its importance in grammar and composition education. Starting from the attention given to the use of translationese that appears in every-day writings and narrowing it down to the English translationese that is considered relatively important, this research tries to cover translationese from Korean linguistic educational point of view. As a more specific content of the research, some ways of composition teaching that deals with English translationese are advised in this paper. translationese in traditional grammar education is mentioned very briefly and only provides the alternative sentences for the existing mistaken translationese, without a grammar information that arises from the process of fixing them. Traditional researches on translationese presented types of foreign language translationese and investigated the conditions of the usages of them off the actual writings; but then they failed to find a actual conditions of translationese usage among the writings of teenagers. For this reason this research intends to investigate translationese from the educational point of view through theoretical consideration. Trying to set up the identity of translationese and to look at the other types of it, based on different languages, this research mainly focuses on the English translationese. In order to set up the categories, it analyzed each types of English translationese. The categorization was based on the existing researches and, depending the researcher’s choice, was either added or deleted. Yet this research tried to be more detailed than the other researches. After setting up the categories of English , this translationese research explored the conditions and the frequencies of the usage of translationese among the essays written by teenagers. Actually English translationese was being used frequently among them and the educational advices seemed to be necessary. This paper tried to present some ways to supervise the use of translationese. Through the process of “fixing and rewriting the wrong translationese” students may get a chance to acquire the grammar technique and improve their writing skills. This paper aims to help the students to write better by enabling them to differentiate between the right sentences and wrong sentences and teaching them the right concept of translationese and its types.
