도시 사이공간 활성화를 위한 공간디자인 모형연구

Abstract

서울은 1960년대 도시화 단계를 거치면서 필요한 건축공간은 공급했지만 경제성에 치우친 급격한 개발로 인해 도시의 구조적 문제점은 악화되었다. 그에 따라 건축행위가 일어난 후 둘 이상의 건물이 존재 할 때 마치 복도처럼 사이공간이 형성되었다. 특히나 도심에 흔히 산재해 있는 사이공간은 공간의 경제적 가치 상승효과를 가장 쉽고 가장 가까이에서 느낄 수 있으며, 도시 오픈스페이스의 기초적 단위공간으로 사회적 상호작용을 촉진할 수 있는 커뮤니케이션의 ‘장’으로서의 발전 가능성을 가지고 있다. 또한 계획 여부에 따라 방치되었던 사이공간의 질적 가치가 매우 달라질 수 있다. 현재 도시의 사이공간 이용현황을 살펴보면 대개 잉여공간으로 방치되거나 차폐된 경우를 어렵지 않게 찾아 볼 수 있다. 도시에는 환경의 질을 높이고 도시민의 다양한 욕구 충족을 위해 쾌적한 오픈스페이스 제공이 반드시 필요하다. 이러한 공간은 휴식공간의 역할이나 쾌적한 보행환경을 제공함은 물론, 결과적으로는 적극적인 커뮤니케이션 공간을 제공하기 때문에 인간소외현상과 개인주의가 극에 달한 사회적 현상을 완화시켜줄 수 있는 대안이 될 수 있다. 하지만 현재 사이공간은 대개 제기능을 다하지 못하고 방치거나 혹은 차폐시킨 공간이 대부분이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 사이공간을 활성화 시킬 수 있는 요인 분석과 설문을 통해 사용자의 요구를 알아보고, 사이공간의 잠재된 가능성을 디자인 모형사례를 통해 제시함으로서 활성화방안을 찾아보고자 한다. 사이공간의 활성화를 위한 방법 제시를 위해 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행하였다. 첫째, 문헌연구를 통해 도시 계획적 관점에서 사이공간의 의미와 형성원인에 대해 이해하였다. 둘째, 사이공간 사례 조사를 통해 사이공간의 유형과 역할을 정리하였다. 셋째, 사이공간 비활성화 요인파악을 위해 현황을 조사하였다. 넷째, 사이공간 활성화를 위한 방안을 제시하고 사이공간 디자인시 고려되어야하는 디자인 항목을 추출하였다. 다섯째, 앞서 논의 되었던 이론을 공간디자인에 적용시킴으로서, 도시환경에 사이공간의 활성화가 가져오는 효과를 검증하였다. 본 연구는 사이공간을 활성화시킨 선진사례들을 통해 그 활용 가능성과 가치를 발견하여 연구의 타당성을 더하며 도시의 사이공간이 더 이상 잉여공간이나 자투리땅으로 외면받기 보다, 체계적 공간계획을 통해 도시민에게 쾌적한 보행공간과 안락한 휴식공간을 제공하는데 기여할 수 있도록 방법적 측면에서의 디자인을 제안하고자 한다.;During the 1960’s, the rapid process of urbanization has provided necessity architectural space in Seoul. However, due to the fact that urbanization was only focused on economic feasibility without systematic planning, the drawback of the urban structure has been caused. After the construction occurred, in-between space was formed like a corridor when two or more buildings took place. The in-between space dotted around the city is most likely to feel the synergistic effects of its economic value. In addition, it has a potential to facilitate social interactions and become a space of communication. The in-between space can be dramatically changed in its qualitative value depending on its revitalizing plan. According to the current usage of the in-between space throughout the city, it is easily found as a surplus space that is neglected or shielded. Providing a pleasant open space is an essential in order to improve the quality of the urban environment and meet the diverse needs of the urban dwellers. Moreover, open space can provide rest areas as well as pleasant environments for pedestrians, and furthermore mitigate human alienation and individualism phenomenon by providing space for active communication. Unfortunately, majority of the current in-between space is either impeded by function and has become neglected or shielded. Therefore, this study will focus on analyzing and surveying the user’s needs and investigating the possibilities of revitalizing the urban in-between space by presenting design models. This research is focused on revitalizing the in-between space followed by the process below. First, through the perspective of urban planning, the signification of the in-between space and cause of formation was understood in this research. Second, the in-between space was analyzed by type and its role through case studies. Third, this research was focused on the current condition of the in-between space to analyze the problem of the area. Forth, in this research, design contents were extracted in order to design the in-between space and specific planning was suggested to revitalize the area as well. Fifth, by applying the debated theory to space design this research was able to verify the effects of the revitalized urban in-between space. The purpose of this study is to discover the potential uses and values of revitalizing the in-between space through best practice cases. Moreover, this research argues that it can turn the surplus space and avoided leftover land into a safe and pleasant pedestrian space with comfortable rest areas to the urban dwellers. Furthermore, this research proposes various designs to improve the quality of human life, and help develop the urban in-between space become a flexible connection and convergence to the urban environment.
