장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수가 장애학생에 대한 비장애학생의 태도와 학급 분위기에 미치는 영향

Abstract

장애학생을 포함하여 서로 다른 배경을 가진 학생들이 서로의 다양성을 존중하고, 긍정적인 사회적 관계를 형성하는 일은 최근 통합교육에서 공통적으로 강조하고 있는 바이다. 본 연구에서는 초등학교 학생들을 대상으로 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수를 실시하고, 이것이 장애학생에 대한 비장애학생의 태도와 학급 분위기에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 경기도 P초등학교 4학년 두 학급의 학생 61명으로, 학급에 장애학생이 속해 있지 않고, 연 2회 이하의 전체 학생을 대상으로 하는 장애이해교육 외에는 지속적인 장애이해교육에 참여해 본 적이 없는 학생들이다. 독립변인은 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수로 실험집단은 특수교사와 실험집단의 담임교사가 18회기의 협력교수를 실시하였고, 통제집단은 담임교사가 정규 국어수업을 실시하였다. 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수란 국어교육과정 안에서 장애이해교육과 관련된 내용을 수정, 보완, 첨가하여 학습목표와 연계시킨 협력교수 프로그램을 의미한다. 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 ‘장애학생 수용성 척도(A-Scale)’를 사용하여 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수가 장애학생에 대한 비장애학생의 태도에 미치는 영향을 측정하였고, ’나의 학급 척도(MCI)‘를 사용하여 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수가 학급 분위기에 미치는 영향을 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS for windows 12.0 프로그램을 이용하여 실험집단의 사전·사후 차이점수와 통제집단의 사전·사후 차이점수에 대해 독립표본 t검정을 실시하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수에 참여한 실험집단 학생들과 참여하지 않은 통제집단 학생들의 장애학생에 대한 태도의 변화 정도 간에는 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수에 참여한 실험집단 학생들과 프로그램에 참여하지 않은 통제집단 학생들의 학급 분위기 인식 변화 정도 간에는 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 구체적으로 살펴보면 나의 학급 척도 검사의 하위영역인 만족도, 갈등, 곤란도, 경쟁성, 응집력의 5가지 영역 중 곤란도, 경쟁성, 응집력의 영역에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 장애이해교육을 포함한 국어과 협력교수가 비장애학생들의 장애학생에 대한 태도를 변화시키고, 학급 분위기를 향상시키는데 효과적이었다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 결과는 장애이해교육을 위해 별도의 시간을 확보하지 않고, 교육과정 수정을 통한 정규 교과 시간 안에서 장애이해교육을 실시할 수 있음을 시사한다. 또한 프로그램의 계획과 실행, 평가에 이르는 전반적인 과정을 특수교사와 일반교사가 협력하여 진행하였다는 점도 본 연구의 의의라 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 일반학교에 통합된 장애학생들의 성공적인 사회적 통합과 더불어 살아가는 공동체적 학교 문화를 조성하기 위하여 교육과정 안에서 교과교육과 연계한 통합적 장애이해교육 프로그램의 개발 및 실행 연구가 더욱 활발하게 이루어져야 할 것이다.;The purpose of the study was to examine effects of a disability awareness program in korean language class using cooperative teaching on attitudes change of elementary students toward students with disabilities and classroom climate. For this purpose, 61 4th grade non-disabled students from a public elementary school in the Gyeonggi-do region were selected. Thirty children from the group were assigned to the experimental group, and the other 31 to the controlled group respectively. Disability awareness program incorporates information about disabilities and contents related to human rights into ongoing general education curricular. This program was applied to the experimental group while the control group was given regular korean language without any information for disability awareness. Both group received 18 sessions with given curriculum. Acceptance Scale: A-Scale(Voeltz, 1980), My Class Inventory: MCI(Fraser, Anderson & Walberg, 1982) were employed to gauge the effect of the program. Independent Samples t test was conducted to see if there is any significant difference in dependent variables between two groups using SPSS 12.0 program. The findings were as follows: 1. There was a statistically significant difference in positive attitudes of non-disabled students toward students with disabilities between groups. 2. There was a statistically significant difference in the classroom climate perceived by two groups. In terms of sub-domains of this scale, the difference was found in three domains, Difficulty, Competitiveness and Cohesiveness level, while no significant difference was found in the other two domains, Satisfaction and Friction level. It was clear that disability awareness program in korean language class using cooperative teaching is effective in increasing the level of positive attitudes toward students with disabilities and improving perceived climates of classroom in the experimental group.
