위로의 공간 속 유토피아

Abstract

누구도 고독과 외로움으로부터 완전히 자유로울 수는 없다. 고독과 외로움은 인간이 피해갈 수 없는 자연스러운 내적 경험이다. 인간은 본질적으로 불안하고 쓸쓸한 존재이며 자기 약점을 고스란히 드러내는 연약한 존재이다. 이성과 과학의 진보가 가져다준 물질적 풍요와 생활의 편리함 속에서 인간은 오히려 우울이나 불안과 같은 심리적 위기감을 느끼게 되는데 이것은 삶을 위협하고 고통을 불러일으키는 직접적인 원인이 된다. 또한 인간 소외의 원초적인 감정에서 오는 상실감은 보호받지 못한 가혹함을 느끼게 하는데 이 모든 것은 고독과 외로움, 상실감의 문제로 귀결된다. 그래서 일상의 무수히 많은 상황에서 우리는 위로를 필요로 한다. 위로에는 인간을 보듬어주는 힘을 가지고 있다. 본인은 인간이기에 겪는 고독과 외로움, 상실감에 있어 그들이 쉬어갈 수 있는 이상 공간(Utopia)과의 만남을 도우려 한다. 현실은 인간에게 영원한 안정을 제공해 주지 않기 때문에 인간은 안식을 얻기 위하여 실재하지 않는 환영의 공간을 만들어 낸다. 이상 공간(Utopia)은 현실에 존재하지 않지만 마음속에 실재하는 염원의 나라이다. 존재하지 않는 불가능한 곳이지만 인간과 자연의 만남으로 소통하고 위로받을 수 있다. 비로소 그들이 염원하는 이상향으로 재현되는 것이다. 인간의 이상공간을 찾으려는 시도는 끊임없이 시도되어져 왔다. 예로부터 이 공간을 찾으려는 표현으로 산수화를 주조로 전개시켰으며 인간이 꿈꾸며 찾아 헤매던 이상공간을 내포하고 있는 작품은 끊임없이 제작되어져 왔다. 이러한 맥락에서 볼 때 한국회화 안견의 <몽유도원도>는 한국인이 꿈꾸었던 이상공간으로의 안내를 돕는 대표적 걸작이라 생각된다. 이 작품은 안평대군이 밤에 꿈꾸었던 도원을 표현한 것으로 당시 최고의 화가였던 안견이 그려 놓은 작품이다. 환상 세계의 교묘한 표현과 웅장함, 기이함을 느끼게 하는 뛰어난 미술품으로 한 시대의 역사적 상황을 대변하는 막중한 사료이다. 본인은 ‘위로의 공간 유토피아’를 설정하고 내면의 상처와 고통을 치유하는 쉼의 공간으로 자연의 평안함에 대해 연구하였다. 먼저 시각적 방법으로 산수와 열매의 조화를 형상화 하였다. 생명의 소멸과 고귀한 탄생의 순환을 의미하는 열매는 인간의 상실감을 채워주는 치료의 역할을 하게 된다. 열매는 상실감에서 오는 인간의 내적 결핍에 대한 보상으로 풍요에 대한 욕구를 채워주는 소재로 등장한다. 눈 앞에서 펼쳐지는 위대한 자연은 서로 어울려 하나의 조화롭고 웅장한 심포니를 연출해내고 몽환적인 색채는 감정의 움직임을 끌어내어 내면의 불안감을 사라지게 한다. 그려진 산수는 보는 이로 하여금 유토피아적 세계로 안내하며 신비로운 상상을 불러 일으키도록 전개되었다. 본인은 이상 공간 연구를 통해 인간의 근원적 문제에 대한 답으로서 자연을 통해 얻고자 하였다. 본 연구에서의 이상 공간은 높은 삶의 질을 원하는 현대사회에서 따뜻한 쉼의 공간으로서의 위로의 역할을 하게 될 것이라 생각된다. 또한 창조적인 이상공간의 제시는 인간을 안도시켜줄 뿐만 아니라 삶에 대한 신뢰를 회복시켜주며 인간의 삶을 보다 긍정적으로 이끌어 주기를 기대한다. ;No one is able to be completely free from solitude and loneliness. The solitude and loneliness are natural internal experiences that a human being can hardly avoid. A human being is inherently a lonely being, and a weak being presenting its own weakness just as it was. Despite the material abundance and convenient life caused by the advancement of reason and science, a human being feels a sense of psychological threats such as depression and uneasiness, which directly threat its life and cause a pain. In addition, a sense of loss, which is caused by a primitive emotion of a human being's sense of alienation, makes people being unprotected, and therefore all these feelings end up the issue of solitude, loneliness, and a sense of loss. For this reason, we need a feeling of comfort in many circumstances of our daily life. Comfort has a power to embrace a human being. This researcher tries to help people encounter Utopia where they have a rest in order for them to ease their solitude, loneliness and a sense of loss. The real world does not provide rest for human beings, so they create an illusionary space which does not exist to get some rest. Utopia is a wishful nation existing not in a real world but in people's mind. Although it does not exist in the real world, human beings communicate with nature and are comforted in the virtual world. Eventually, their wishful Utopia reappears. There has been constant trials to explore a human being's Utopia. Since long time ago, human beings have developed landscape paintings as an expression of finding the space, and therefore art works which involve human beings' Utopia, have constantly been produced. In this context, The korean fine art <A Dream of Amusement in the Garden of Peach Blossoms > painted by Ahn Gyeon who was then the best painter, is believed to be a representative painting, which helps people go to their dreaming Utopia. The painting expresses a garden which Royal Prince Ahn-pyung dreamed at night. The excellent art work, which describes an elaborate, magnificent, and eccentric idealistic world, is a very precious historical material representing a historical circumstance of an era. This researcher set 'Comfort Space Utopia', and investigated peace of nature as a rest space healing a wound and a pain. First of all, as a visual method, hills and waters, and fruits were formed in harmony. Fruits, which represent the cycle of the birth and death of a life, serve to fill a human being's sense of loss. They compensate for a human being's inner deficiency caused by a sense of loss, serve as a subject-matter to fill desire for richness. The grandeur of nature before our eyes produces a splendid, harmonious symphony, and the dreamy color induces us to arouse our emotion and makes our anxiety disappear. The landscape in the painting leads us to an utopian world, and inspires us to create a miraculous imagination. Through the study on Utopia, this researcher endeavored to answer a human being's fundamental question in nature. It is considered that the Utopia in this study serves to comfort people as a rest space in the modern society that requires high quality of life. In addition, the proposal of the Utopia is expected to make people feel relieved, to revive the trust in life, and to lead a human being's life in a positive way.
