불안한 존재로서의 자아 표현 연구

Abstract

본인에게 작업의 목적은 자신을 발견하고 내면의 불안한 감정을 치유하는 데에 그 의의가 있다. 그리하여 본인의 작업에서 자아인식과 정체성은 작품의 주제이기도 하고 작업의 동기가 되기도 한다. 본다는 행위는 본인에게 신체를 관찰하는 것과 자아를 인식하는 것, 본인의 내면을 들여다보는 것을 의미한다. 자신의 신체를 관찰하는 것뿐만 아니라 사물, 풍경, 사회를 보면서도 나를 인식하게 되는 것이다. 본인은 인간을 개별자로 인식하고, 자아 또한 개별자를 이해하는 양상이나 방식으로 보는 개별자 존재론에 입각하여 자아를 규정한다. 그러한 견지에서 신체의 중요성에 대해 주목하고, 모리스 메를로-퐁티(Maurice Merleau-Ponty, 1908-1961)의 몸 철학을 통해 몸 담론에 접근하고 있다. 자아인식 과정에서 중요하게 작용한 ‘본다는 행위’에 관한 의미는 자크 라캉(Jaques Lacan, 1901-1981)의 거울 이론을 빌어 설명하고 있다. 본인은 정체성의 형성에서 중요한 부분은 인간관계라고 본다. 정체성을 이루는 다양한 요인들 중 굳이 인간관계를 강조하는 이유는, 타인과의 관계가 본인을 존재하게 하고, 본인의 성격을 형성하는데 큰 기여를 했다고 판단하기 때문이다. 본인은 사회적 시선을 가진 타자들에게서는 소외와 허무함을 느꼈지만, 의미있는 관계를 맺고 지내오던 지인들에게서는 본인을 형성하는 많은 부분이 그들에게서 왔다는 것을 깨달았다. 따라서 그들과 함께했던 기록을 따라가는 형식의 작품을 제작하였고, 작품을 통해 그들과의 관계를 새롭게 정립하고 관계의 의미를 되새겨가고 있다. 본인의 불안한 감정은 작품을 제작하게 하는 동인이다. 본인에게 가장 중요한 문제로 부상한 의식은 불안이며, 치유의 과정을 필요로 하기 때문이다. 이 불안의식은 바로 타인과의 관계맺음에서 원할치 못한 소외로부터 온 것이다. 작품 전반에 나타나는 소외로부터 오는 불안은 우울로 나타난다. 원천적인 불안의 이유는 세 가지로 분류할 수 있는데, 존재에 대한 불안, 낯선 것으로부터 오는 불안, 상실에 대한 불안으로 나눌 수 있다. 본인 작품에서는 세 가지의 불안의 요소가 중첩되기도 하며 개별적으로 존재하기도 한다. 본인은 이러한 우울과 불안을 그림으로 그려냄으로써, 불안 상태에서 한 발짝 나와 그것들을 바라보고 그 원인들을 탐구하는 것으로 작품에 의미부여를 한다. 본인은 이러한 작품의 제작 과정을 통해 자아를 확인하고, 감정을 해소하여 불안감에서 일시적으로 벗어나고자 하였다. 본인은 작품에서 자아인식의 과정에서 오는 존재의 불확실함과 타인과의 관계에서 오는 허무함 등을 불안의 감정을 통해 나타내고 있다. 이러한 존재의 불확실함과 관계에서 오는 허무함은 현대를 살아가는 많은 도시인들에게 공감을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한 현대인의 공통경험이란 점에서 타인에게 위로가 될 것이다. 본인은 작품에서 스스로를 드러내어 타인에게 말을 거는, 다소 소극적인 소통방식일지라도, 작품을 통해 소통의 가능성을 추구하여 나가고자 한다.;Self-recognition and identity is the subject and motivation of my works. This study recognizes a human as an individual and identity as a type and a manner to understand an individual based upon individual ontology, and reviews the importance of body using the theory of body by Merleau-Ponty. In addition, the meaning of "The Act of Seeing With One's Own Eyes" is given using theory of mirror by Jacques Lacan. The Act of Seeing With One's Own Eyes means to me examining body, recognizing self, and looking into one's inner side. We can recognize ourselves by examining body as well as object, landscape, and society. Identity is made in the process of finding oneself, and human relationship is considered to be important for forming identity. Although there are many factors to form identity, the reason why human relationship is considered to be the most important is that the human relationship contributes to one's existence and forming one's personality. It was understood that I felt isolation and emptiness from others having social attention, but many important factors to form one's own identity came from those with who one made good relationship. Therefore, such works tracking the records which one had with them is made, and the relationship with them and the meaning of relationship is reviewed through my works. The anxieties from depression and isolation shown in the entire works could be divided into three as follows: anxiety about existence, anxiety from alien, anxiety about loss. The three factors of anxieties in my works could be overlapped or individually existed. My works, showing such depression and anxieties with pictures, has the meaning by seeing them one step forward and study the factors. I want to confirm identity through the process of making works and be temporarily away from anxiety by relaxing sensibility. My works show the uncertainty of existence coming from the self recognizing process and emptiness from the relationship with others through anxiety. I hope that such emptiness from uncertainty of existence is understood by current many urbanites and my works could relax them. Furthermore, I hope they can find the possibility of communication through such inactive trials in my works.
