빛과 그림자의 유희를 통한 카오스적 풍경

Abstract

무의식을 의식으로 끌어내는데 가장 적극적인 인간의 활동은 예술이라 할 수 있다. 예술은 의식적으로 생각되는 것들을 무의식의 반영을 통해 새롭게 창조하고, 의식적으로 받아들이기 불편한 것들을 새로운 의미로 탈바꿈시킨다. 본인은 꿈을 내면에 잠재된 무의식의 표출로 보고, 꿈에서 나타나는 환영의 장면을 빛과 그림자, 선과 입체가 그려내는 조형적 공간으로 표현한다. 본인의 작업에서 표현되는 조형들의 풍경은 본인의 기억과 감성을 추상시킨 일종의 가능성이다. 인간의 기억과 상상 속에 깊게 내재되어 있는 근거를 ‘축약된 형’으로 비유하여 해석하는 것이다. 본인은 이를 기하학적인 선의 구조를 통해 나타내는데, 이는 선의 구성적 특징과 상징적 형태 개념을 결합하여 현실세계의 초월을 지향하고 정신을 반영한 상징적인 표현을 모색하게 하였다. 이러한 선으로 표현된 추상화된 형상들은 잠재된 상상을 자극하고, 변화의 가능성을 보여준다. 이러한 형상들은 대상으로 남는 것이 아니라, ‘빛’에 의해 다차원의 공간을 형성시킨다. 본인에게 빛은 공간과 조형의 관계를 연결해주는 중요한 요소이며, 공간과 조형에 대한 재해석을 가능하게 하는 매체이다. 본인은 작업에서 다차원의 공간을 만들어내기 위해 빛을 이용한다. ‘빛’과 빛의 또 다른 형태인 ‘그림자’로 만들어내는 새로운 공간을 발견하고, 2차원과 3차원을 넘나드는 공간을 체험하며 순간의 환영을 경험하는 것이다. 본인은 본 논문에서 작업에서 나타나는 빛의 의미와 역할에 대해 살펴보고, 빛과 대상 그리고 대상의 그림자가 중첩됨으로써 나타나는 다차원의 경계공간과 빛과 그림자로 생성되는 시각적 일루젼(illusion) 공간에 대해 언급하고자 한다. 본인은 작품을 통해 빛이 투사되는 공간, 그 중간에 위치하는 오브제와 빛의 만남, 그리고 그것이 응접되어 만들어내는 조형적 이미지를 표현한다. 이는 착시적인 화면을 연출하는데, 이는 마치 감성과 시지각의 의식을 혼란시키는 카오스적 풍경과 같다. 이를 통해 느껴지는 초월적인 심상을 간접적으로 경험하도록 하는 것이 본인이 작품을 통하여 나타내고자 하는 것이다. 이것은 일상적인 시선으로 바라본 것들을 새로운 존재로 탄생시키는 과정이며, 인지하지 못했던 새로운 공간을 발견하는 실험이기도 하다. ;Art may be the most lively activities by humans to elicit consciousness from unconsciousness. Art allows something consciously recognized to be newly created through unconsciousness and something uncomfortable hard to be accepted to be changed to new meaning. Dream is considered as an expression of potential unconsciousness of inner side and the phantasm space in a dream will be expressed by formative space drawn with light and shadow as well as lines and solids. Landscapes of molds expressed in my work suggest a kind of possibility that has abstracted my memory and emotion. It is an interpretation of the basis lying deep in human memory and imagination through analogy in ‘abbreviated form’. This I describe through structure of geometrical lines, which has led me to seek symbolic expression, aiming at transcendence of the real world and reflecting the mind, by combining formative characteristics of lines and symbolic formal concept. The abstracted images expressed by such lines stimulate latent imagination and reveal the possibility of change. These images don’t remain as an object but form a multidimensional space by ‘light’. Light is an important factor to connect the space of light and formativeness as well as medium allowing re-interpretation about space and formativeness. My works use light to create multi-dimensional space. They find new space created with light and "shadow", another type of light, and help to experience the space going through two dimension and three dimension as well as the phantasm of moment. Chapter II will explain the meaning and role of light in my works, and describe the visual illusion space with multi-dimensional border space, light, and shadow created by overlapping of light and object as well as the shadow of object. My works express formative images which are created by meeting of objet in the middle of the space where light projects as well as light. They create the screen of optical illusion, which is like landscape in chaos confusing the consciousness of sensibility and vision. My works intend to make it possible to indirectly experience transcendental images. It is the process of bringing things viewed by a casual eye into new existence as well as an experiment of finding a new space that has not been perceived.
