요하네스 브람스(Johannes Brahms)의 「Intermezzo Op. 119」 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 요하네스 브람스(Johannes Brahms, 1833-1897)의 후기 소품 중 하나인 「Intermezzo Op. 119」를 통해 고전주의 전통 위에서 낭만주의 어법을 결합한 그만의 음악적 독창성을 다룬다. 특히 그의 피아노 곡 중에서 후기 작품에 해당하는 성격 소품을 통해 고전적인 형식의 틀 안에서 작곡가만의 표현어법을 펼쳤는데 브람스만의 음악적 색채가 짙은 작품으로 그의 피아니즘을 이해하는데 좋은 곡이다. 이 작품 안에서 브람스의 특징들을 찾을 수 있는데, 우선 화성적인 면에서는 많은 중음을 가진 밀집된 화성을 가졌으며 3 ․ 6도 화성 안에 선율을 나타내는 특징이 나타난다. 그리고 리듬적인 면에서는 헤미올라 기법 ․ 당김음 ․ 악센트 등 미묘하고 복잡한 리듬을 사용하여 여러 가지의 리듬변형기법을 보여주며 하나의 주요동기를 가지고 다양하게 변형시켜 변주하였으며, 피아노 악기 안에서 관현악적 색채를 보여줌으로써 새로운 시도를 하였다. 그리고 이 곡의 피아노 연주 기법들을 보면 첫 번째 곡 인터메쪼는 서정적이고 절제하는 느낌을 갖고 깊은 감성을 살리며 연주해야 하며 두 번째 곡 인터메쪼는 A부분의 초조한 느낌과 B부분의 우아하고 부드러운 느낌을 대조시켜 연주해야한다. 세 번째 곡 인터메쪼는 경쾌함과 우아함을 잃지 않고 연주하고, 마지막으로 네 번째 곡 랩소디는 힘과 열정을 가지고 영웅적인 느낌으로 연주해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 화려한 낭만주의가 널리 퍼졌던 19세기 전반적인 음악계의 상황과 그 흐름을 파악하여 낭만주의 시대 안에서 고전주의자로 살았던 브람스의 피아노 음악의 특징을 고찰하며 그의 후기 소품 안에 「Intermezzo Op. 119」를 중심으로 보다 더 심도 있는 연주를 위해 곡을 구조적으로 분석하고 이해하여 브람스의 작곡 의도를 파악하는 것에 그 목적이 있다.;In this thesis, Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)'s own originality is studied through 「Intermezzo Op. 119」which is one of his late piano works. This work is good to understand his pianism. Especially, he expressed his own style in classical form through character piece, which consisted of Brahms's last piano works. Brahms's own unique expressions can be found in this work. First of all, in harmonic part, it has repetition compound harmony which includes repetition of notes and melody is expressed in triad or 6 degrees. Secondly, in rhythmical part, various complex rhythm techniques are expressed using delicate and variety rhythm such as hemiola technique, syncopation and accent. One motive has been played in diverse forms and tried new music showing orchestral sound in piano. The pianism of this work, the first intermezzo must be played expressing deep emotions with lyrical and moderate feelings. In second intermezzo, two different feelings must be played in contrast: Part A with tension and Part B with elegance and softness. Rhythm and elegance need to be kept in the third intermezzo. Lastly, fourth rhapsody has to be played through heroic feeling with power and passion. The purpose of thesis is to examine the characteristics of piano music of Brahms, who lived as a classicist in the romantic era by understanding overall musical situation and determine the flow of a gorgeous romantic music prevalent in the 19th century. And this thesis also has a purpose of to identify the composer’s true intention by understanding and analysis of the structural composition of the Brahms for focusing on play the song more in-depth within his late piano work 「Intermezzo Op. 119」.
