볼프강 아마데우스 모차르트 (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)의 마술피리(Magic Flute) K.620 에 나타난 Freemason 특징 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 볼프강 아마데우스 모차르트(Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 1756-1791)의 독일 오페라 마술피리(Magic Flute)와 프리메이슨(Freemason)의 연관성에 관한 논문이다. 모차르트는 고전파 음악의 대표적 작곡가로서 관현악곡, 오페라, 성악곡 등 모든 음악 분야에 걸쳐 다양한 곡을 작곡하였으며 18세기 고전파 음악에 큰 공헌을 하였다. 모차르트의 대표적인 오페라 중 하나인 <마술피리>는 프리메이슨 회원이었던 작곡가 요한 엠마누엘 쉬카네더가 모차르트에게 프리메이슨을 널리 선전하는 오페라는 만들자고 제안하여 만든 오페라이다. 이 작품은 쉬카네더가 극작가 역할을 맡고 모차르트가 작곡가 역할을 맡아서 완성하였다. 그래서 지금도 <마술피리>의 줄거리나 무대의 상징들은 프리메이슨의 사상을 대변하며 그 비밀을 감추고 있는 오페라라는 지적이 자주 있게 되고 그것은 어느 정도 사실이기도하다. <마술피리>에 나타나는 프리메이슨 적 요소를 간략하게 정리하면 다음과 같다. 사회적인 측면에서부터 로마 카톨릭이 그들을 탄압했던 것과 탄압을 막으려 도와준 자들, 또 그 탄압에서부터 벗어나 선의 승리를 이루기까지 프리메이슨적인 내용을 찾아볼 수 있다. 또 대본에서는 등장인물부터 프리메이슨에 대한 인물을 묘사하였는데 오페라 속의 지혜와 고결의 성인인 ‘자라스트로’는 프리메이슨 상징주의의 대표자인 이그나츠 폰 보른을 연결 시켰고 ‘밤의 여왕’은 그들의 탄압했던 마리아 테레지아 여제를 연결 시켰다. 타미노는 사회 계급 간 평등, 그리고 남녀의 결합과 협력을 강조했던 개혁군주 요제프 2세라고 해석되며 파미나는 오스트리아의 민중이라고 해석된다. 이런 사상은 타미노와 파미나가 시련을 이기고 사제들이 이시스와 오시리스에게 바치는 합창을 하는 장면에서 결실을 맺는다. 전체적으로 보았을 때도 프리메이슨 적인 요소가 많이 깃들어있다. 오페라에서 최고의 사제 자리에 있는 자라스트로는 ‘신성한 프리메이슨’에 관해 노래하고 음악과 관련해 특정한 조성과 음정, 노래를 동원하였다. E♭조성은 플랫이 3개가 있고 3명의 소년과 3명의 여인들이 나온다. 또 이집트 신인 이시스와 오시리스를 찬양하는 노래, 서곡에 3번의 도입부 같은 페르마타 등 들이 프리메이슨의 의식, 상징과 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있다. 이것은 역시 프리메이슨의 삼위일체와 연관성을 가져다준다. 이러한 연구 결과 <마술피리>는 그저 음악만 담은 오페라가 아니다. 모차르트의 <마술피리>야 말로 계몽의 문제를 가장 완벽하게 예술적으로 표현한 작품인 것이다. 이 작품은 ‘프리메이슨’ 이라는 신념을 넘어서서 진정한 계몽을 많은 대중들한테 일깨워 주고 싶었던 것이다. 요제프 2세는 독일어를 전 영토의 공용어로 승격 시키려했고 모차르트는 이태리어가 아닌 독일어로 이 오페라를 만들었다. 이 오페라는 계급이 없는 평등한 사회, 또 당시 남녀 차별에서도 여성도 사회에 합류 할 수 있는 관념을 심어주었다. 이 논문을 통해 연주자들이 오페라 마술피리에 담긴 프리메이슨 사상과 나아가 모차르트가 어떻게 접목을 시켰는지 이해하는데 도움이 되길 바란다.;This paper is about the connection between Free-mason and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Magic flute, Germany opera. Mozart is known as the representative composer of classic music, who composed of prolific works across all music genre including orchestration, opera, vocal music, and made a hefty contribution to classic music in the 18th century. Magic flute, one of Mozart's masterpieces, was created as Johann Emmanuel Schikaneder, a member of Free-mason, proposed to write the opera to inform of Free-mason to mozart. Schikaneder and Mozart took a part as the writer and composer each for this work. So even now, the storyline and symbolism of Magic flute still represent the thought of Free-mason, also it was considered as opera hiding their secret. However, it is true to a certain extent. Masonic elements in Magic flute are summed up as follows. In a social point of view, Masonic elements can be found as Roman Catholic Church' oppression of freemason, the people who help them to defend against that, and the process that Free-mason win the virtue triumphs from that oppression. Implication about Free-mason features is shown from character description in the script as well. For example, Zarastro, who is the saint of nobility and wisdom in the opera, is connected with Ignaz von Born, who was a master of Masonic symbolism. Queen of the night stands for Maria Theresa, who repressed them. Tamino can be interpreted as Joseph II, who stresses not only equality among social classes but also union and cooperation between men and women. Pamina can be interpreted as people of Australia. This idea comes to fruition when the priests sing the chorus to Isis and Osiris after Tamino and Pamina overcame their trial. As a whole, there are constant allusions of Masonic elements. Zarastro, top of the priests, sings the song about divine Free-mason, using particular key, interval and song related to the music. E♭key is with 3 flats. There are three ladies and three boys, and the song to laud Isis and Osiris and fermata like intro of overture N0.3 etc. are in the opera, in which these elements are so closely intertwined to consciousness and symbol of Free-mason. These are also connection with the Trinity of Free-mason. In conclusion, the Magic flute is not such a opera only made of music. It is Magic flute that is the brilliant work expressing the enlightenment problem artistically and perfectly. This work seemed to have the aim to enlighten many people truly beyond creed of Free-mason. Joseph II tried to promote german to be a common language, and Mozart composed this opera in German instead of italian. This opera implanted the concept of the equal world without social class, even for women to take part in society in spite of discrimination against them that time. Through this paper, I hope players are given help in understanding the thought of Free-mason in Magic flute and, furthermore, how mozart integrate it into the opera.
