이야기하기를 통한 한국 교회 여성노인을 위한 목회적 돌봄

Abstract

의료 · 문명기술의 발전과 더불어 저 출산의 현상은 우리 사회를 고령화 사회로 만들기 시작했다. 한국 사회는 2002년도부터 노인인구 비례가 7.9% 이상이 되어 고령화 사회로 진입했고, 2019년에는 고령사회가 될 것이라고 전문가들은 예상하고 있다. 이러한 현대화 및 의료기술의 발달로 인한 고령화는 여러 가지 사회문제들을 유발시키고 있는데 그 중 하나가 노인 문제이다. 노인들은 경제적으로 지위가 저하되고 신체적 노쇠와 건강악화로 인해 사회적 역할이 상실된다. 이는 노년기의 의존성을 증대시키고 또 다른 갈등문제들을 야기 시켜 이에 대한 대처방안이 요구된다. 오랫동안 가부장적 문화권 속에서 태어나 성적인 차별을 받으며 가족을 위해 희생의 삶을 살아온 여성노인들의 삶은 더욱 심각하다고 할 수 있다. 교회도 예외는 아니다. 교회내에는 여성노인들이 대체로 많은 비율을 차지하고 있음에도 그들에게 양질의 목회적 돌봄을 제공하려는 노력들은 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문의 목적은 여성노인에 대한 보다 깊은 이해를 통해 여성노인들이 좀 더 만족감있는 노년기를 보낼 수 있도록 적합한 목회적 돌봄의 방법을 제시하는 것이다. 또한 노인들의 이야기속에 나타난 회상의 기능이 어떻게 여성노인들의 삶을 좀 만족감 있게 이끄는지, 교회내의 여성노인들이 이야기를 통해 어떻게 자신의 삶을 좀 더 잘 지탱해 나갈 수 있는지를 규명해 보고자 함이다. 김영은 이야기는 삶을 정리하는 기회가 되며 다시 사는 경험을 하게 되면서 잃어버린 시간을 회복하고 흘러간 의미를 되찾는 기회가 된다고 하였다. 인생의 마지막을 살아가는 노인들에게 있어서 자신이 살아온 인생을 돌아보며, 자신의 이야기를 하게 하는 것은 노년기를 좀 더 성공적으로 보낼 수 있는 방법이 된다. 이야기가 캐내어지고 나누어질 때 각 개개인은 자신의 이야기와 다른 사람의 이야기를 통하여 자기 자신을 새롭게 만나고 발견하는 경험을 하게 된다. 또한 이야기를 함께 나누고 공유하는 공동체는 공통의 경험을 갖게 됨으로 어렵지 않게 친구가 되기도 하고 친밀한 공동체로 발전하게 된다. 교회 내에서 나누어지는 하나님과 하나님의 나라 이야기, 자신들의 신앙 이야기, 은총의 이야기는 사람들의 마음에 새로운 하나님 경험을 하도록 이끌 수 있다. 새로운 하나님 경험은 삶의 변화, 인격의 변화를 가져온다. 이러한 이야기하기는 여성노인들로 하여금 지나간 자신의 삶을 돌아보고, 현재 처한 삶을 수용하며 견딜 수 있도록 도와주며, 자신의 남은 미래를 좀 더 희망적으로 바라볼 수 있도록 이끌 것이다. 그리고 교회는 여성노인들로 하여금 마음껏 이야기 하도록 장(場)을 마련해 주며, 그들의 이야기가 건강하게 재구성되어 내일을 희망으로 기다릴 수 있도록 지지하고 도와줄 수 있다. 이것이 바로 여성노인들을 위한 목회적인 돌봄이라 할 수 있을 것이다.;The low birthrate, coupled with the development of medical and scientific technologies, have begun to turn our society into an aged society. South Korea, with the proportion of elderly citizens over 7.9 percent in 2002, has already entered the stage of an aging society and experts predict that the country would become an aged society by 2019. And the aging society due to the modernization and the development of medical technologies have been causing a number of social problems, one of which is the problem of the aged. Old people are meant to lose their social status gradually due to the lack of economic capability as well as the deterioration of physical health. And this situation increases the reliability of the senior citizens and causes other discords with other people. So the society needs to come up with proper countermeasures to cope with such problems. In particular, old women who have lived a life of sacrifice in the patriarchal culture and suffered from sexual discrimination in the male-centered society, face yet more serious problems. Churches of the country are not an exception as long as such problems are concerned. While old women account for a large portion of the people at churches in general, there have not been sufficient efforts for the local churches to provide a good quality of pastoral care to them. This thesis is aimed at presenting a desirable method of pastoral care for the old women at churches based on a deeper understanding of them so that they could spend their senescence in a more satisfactory manner. In addition, the paper also tries to verify how the function of reminiscence in the stories of the old women at churches leads a more satisfactory life of them and how the women could maintain their life better through the stories. Kim Yeong-eun said that the storytelling provides her with an opportunity to recollect her life and experience to rewrite her life, thereby enabling her to recover time and significance that she has lost. For the old, who are living the last days of life, storytelling becomes a good method to spend the senescence in a more successful way. With the stories uncovered and shared with others, each individual experiences a fresh encounter and discovery of himself or herself. Beside, a community which shares stories of its members, comes to have a common experience. It allows the members to be friends more easily and develops the community into a more friendly one. Also, the stories about the Lord and his world, their own stories of faith and grace could lead the participants to a new experience of the God in their own mind. And the new experience of the God brings about the change of life and personality. Consequently, this storytelling method would help old women look back on their own life and accept the current situation and maintain the life, while leading them to face their remaining life in a more hopeful manner. Churches can provide the space for the storytelling and help the old women live the coming days with hopes based on the healthily reorganized stories. And this could be called a desirable pastoral care for the elderly women.
