새터민 청소년을 위한 한국어 속담교육 방안

Abstract

본 연구는 남한 사회에서 큰 관심사로 떠오르고 있는 새터민 문제가 근본적으로 언어의 차이에서 발생한다는 전제 하에 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 속담을 통한 교육 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 북한의 경제난이 심각해지면서 남한 내 새터민의 수가 급증하고 있는데 여러 가지 이유로 적응의 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이들이 적응하는데 어려움을 겪는 근본적인 문제는 남한과 북한의 언어 차이라고 볼 수 있는데 발음상의 차이, 의미의 차이, 어휘의 차이, 문법의 차이 등은 이들의 적응을 방해한다. 따라서 이들의 남한 생활의 적응을 돕고 정확한 의사소통 능력을 신장시키기 위해서 언어교육이 필요하다. 언어 교육으로써의 속담은 어휘와 문장으로 기능하는 특성으로 인해 그 교육적 효과가 크고 그 나라의 사회·문화를 반영하고 있기 때문에 남한 사회에 대한 이해를 도울 수 있다. 본고에서는 남한과 북한에서 국어 교과서에서 다루어지는 속담을 비교해 남북한 속담의 차이를 밝히고 있으며 어휘와 문법, 의미상의 차이를 통해 새터민 청소년들의 정확한 의사소통 능력의 신장과 남한 사회에 대한 이해를 돕고자 한다. 즉 속담의 어휘, 문법, 의미 파악을 통해 언어의 단편적 지식을 이해시키고 나아가 다양한 상황맥락에 적용할 수 있도록 하며 남한의 사회·문화의 이해라는 총체적인 이해를 꾀하고자 하였다.;The research of this study focuses on a fundamental linguistic issue that is presumably derived from the differences of language among North Korean defectors, and seeks to find the educational solution to solve the problem by using proverbs. As North Korea’s economy gets difficult, the increasing number of North Korean defectors, crossing the boarder to South Korea, struggle from settling into the society for various reasons. The main reason that keeps them from adjusting is the language differences such as pronunciation, meaning, vocabulary, and grammar. Therefore, it is crucial for the defectors to receive proper language education in order for them to adapt to the new South Korean surrounding, and to achieve more accurate communication abilities. Proverbs are educationally effective not only because they are composed with vocabulary and sentences, but also because they reflect the country’s culture and society that help to have a better understanding of South Korea. This research aims to compare proverbs from South and North Korea’s Korean literature textbooks to find out the differences of vocabulary, grammar, and meaning, and to aid North Korean youth defectors in strengthening communication abilities, and in comprehending the society of South Korea. In other words, by understanding vocabulary, grammar, and meaning appeared in proverbs, the study lets the North Korean defectors not only to understand fragmentary knowledge of language to apply proverbs in various contexts, but also to achieve overall comprehension of South Korea’s society and culture.
