L. v. Beethoven의 Piano Sonata in C Major, Op.53에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 베토벤(Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770～1857)의 「Piano Sonata in C Major, Op.53 “Waldstein(발트슈타인)”」에 관한 분석이다. <Waldstein>의 분석에 앞서 먼저 고전주의(Classicism)의 주요한 기악음악 양식인 소나타(Sonata)와 소나타 형식(Sonata Form)을 살펴보고 베토벤 피아노 소나타의 시기별 특징을 알아보며 그의 피아노 소나타에 대한 이해를 돕고자 한다. 베토벤은 하이든(Franz Joseph Haydn, 1732～1809)과 모차르트(Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, 1756～1791)와 함께 ‘빈 고전파’의 3대 거장으로 불리며 하이든과 모차르트로부터 고전주의 음악 양식인 소나타 형식을 계승하고 거기에 자신의 개성을 첨가하여 새롭고 독창적으로 발전시켰다. 그는 38곡의 피아노 소나타를 작곡하였는데, 작품번호가 있는(Op.) 32곡과 작품번호가 없는(WoO.) 6곡을 작곡하였다. 그의 피아노 소나타 작품 형식은 초기에는 고전주의의 전통적인 소나타 형식을 염두에 두었으나, 후기로 넘어가면서 새로운 표현방법과 다양한 기법 등의 창작활동을 시도하여 고전주의 음악 양식을 확립시킴과 동시에 낭만주의(Romanticism) 시대의 음악으로 길을 열어주었다. 그리고 베토벤은 그 당시 발달되고 있었던 피아노 제작 기술의 혁신을 각 작품을 통해 반영하였으며 음역과 음향 폭을 확대 시켰다. 38곡의 피아노 소나타 작품 중 <Waldstein> 소나타는 베토벤의 피아노 소나타 중 걸작으로 대규모 2악장으로 구성되어있다. 1악장은 전형적인 소나타 형식인 3부 구성(제시부-발전부-재현부)과 종결부(Coda)로 되어있다. 여기서는 타악기적 연주기법과 넓은 음역의 사용, 또한 음형의 다양한 이용이 두드러졌으며, 악상의 다이내믹(Dynamic)으로 음색이 풍부해지는 등 음향에 있어서 관현악적인 음향으로 확대된 것을 볼 수 있다. 그리고 다양한 전조와 주제부-제1주제와 제2주제-의 대조가 뚜렷하다. 2악장은 느린 3부 형식(A-B-A')의 짧은 도입부(Introduzione)와 론도 형식(Rondo Form)으로 이루어졌다. 도입부는 짧지만 독립된 느린 악장의 느낌을 주며 1악장과 마찬가지로 넓은 음역을 사용하며, 다양한 전조와 변주적 재현부를 가진다. 그리고 이 도입부는 반종지로 종결부를 만들며 론도부분으로 휴지(Pause)없이 이어진다. 론도 부분에서는 피아노의 발달로 인한 잦은 페달사용이 나타나며, 아름다운 론도 선율과 지속적인 긴 트릴, 그리고 셋잇단음, 당김음 등의 다양한 리듬들이 전개된다. 그리고 론도 첫 부분에 나오는 음형의 소재가 전체에 걸쳐 다양하게 사용되고 있다. 이렇듯 이 작품은 장대한 규모와 화려한 연주기교가 돋보이는 작품이며 베토벤의 어떤 소나타보다 커다란 연주효과를 얻을 수 있어 자주 연주되는 작품이다.;The thesis is to present author's study on Ludwig van Beethoven(1770～1857)'s Piano Sonata Op.53 No.21“Waldstein” as a part of the author's graduation recital program. Before analyzing <Waldstein>, the author analyzes classicism's sonata and sonata form. Also, I provide a better understanding about piano sonata with going through the three periods of Beethoven. Beethoven was called a great composer, establishing the Vienna classicism. Also, he was the representative of a period of classicism as well as Franz Joseph Haydn(1732～1809) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart(1756～1791). He experimented new ideas and adapted new aesthetic to his music. These creative activities marked the culmination of Classicism and opened the way to the Romanticism. He composed 38 piano sonatas all his life, including 32 pieces with numbers and 6 others without numbers. In addition, the 38 piano sonatas show the development of the history of piano music as well as his music style. Also, it reflected the production technology of piano through each piece of music and expanded range and sound. <Waldstein>, the representative work of his 38 piano sonatas, is composed of two long movements. The first movement comprises the three parts of a typical sonata form (Exposition-Development-Recapitulation) and coda, using percussion performance technique, wide range, and contrast between diverse modulation and main melody. The second movement comprises a slow introduction in tripartite form (A-B-A') followed by a rondo form (A-B-A'-B'-C-A"-B"-Coda). In this form it is showed up frequent pedals caused by develop of piano, beautiful rondo melody, continuous trill and diverse rhythm. Both of huge scale and brilliant technique were particularly outstanding in this work. Many musicians play this work to get a performance impact.
