유년시절 중첩된 기억을 재구성한 시각 표현 연구

Abstract

존 듀이(Dewey, John)가 말한 것처럼 감정은 경험의 기억을 통해서 형성되며, 수많은 기억들을 잠재의식 속에 감추어 두었다가 어떤 계기를 통해 표출해 낸다. 예술가의 작품 또한 기억의 감정을 근본적으로 하여 내면세계의 감정을 표현한다. 따라서 예술작가들은 세상과의 소통과 상호작용 속에서 이루어지는 주관적인 경험을 시각적으로 재구성하여 인간 내면세계를 표현한다. 스스로 경험하고 기억 속에 남아있는 흔적을 감정적으로 유도함으로써 새롭게 예술작품을 창조 하는 것이다. 어린 시절의 경험들은 흔히 생각하듯이 인격발달에 아무런 흔적도 남기지 않고 사라지는 것이 아니라 이후 그의 인생 전반에 결정적인 영향을 행사해 왔다고 생각할 만한 충분한 이유가 있다. 개인의 어린 시절의 경험을 기억하고 있다는 것은 절대로 하찮은 일이 아니며, 자신도 의미를 잘 모르는 귀중한 부수물의 배후에는 대게 그의 심적 발전의 중요한 특징에 관한 귀중한 증거가 숨겨져 있을 수도 있는 것이다. 이처럼 유년기의 기억은 과거로의 산물로만 존재하는 것이 아니라 현재의 시점에서 자신의 감정, 행동, 습관 등의 형성에 있어 매우 중요한 역할을 하면서 예술가에게는 창조적 영감을 제공하는 원천이 된다. 또한 재인과 재구성을 통한 유년기 기억은 인간의 갖는 공통적인 감성을 자극하면서, 효과적으로 이미지를 전달하는 근원이 될 수 있다. 베르그송은 반복의 결과에 따른 습관의 기억과 과거를 생각하게 하는 회상기억 두 가지로 분류 하였는데, 본 연구에서는 그 중 회상 기억에 포함되는 유년 기억의 재구성을 통해 시각 표현을 함으로써 연구자 자신의 순수한 감정을 회복하고 치유 하며 진정한 자아를 찾는 동시에 감상자와의 커뮤니케이션을 이끌어 내는 표현의 한 방향을 제시 하고자 한다. 기억이라는 것은 실제 일어난 일과, 실제 일어나지 않은 일의 경계가 불분명한 시점에 존재하고 있다. 이러한 기억 단편적인 부분들이 쌓이고 쌓여 새로운 기억을 창출해 내듯, 겹겹이 쌓인 기억들을 아련하게 표현하기 위해서 옅은 색을 바르고 그 위에 농도가 다른 색을 겹쳐 칠하는 방법인 한국화의 적묵법 (중첩,重疊)을 활용함으로써 표현하고자 했다. 단순히 형태 안에 색을 입힘으로써 작품을 완성하는 것이 아니라 정신적인 기억과 물리적 상태의 재료들을 서로 상호 보완하면서 또 다른 예술의 언어로 승화하고 싶었다. 단순히 사물에 대한 기억이 아니라 본인의 유년 시절의 기억을 재구성하여 소재로 다루고자 하며, 이를 통해 감정과 심상을 외부적인 경험으로나마 함께 공감 할 수 있기를 바란다. 또한 무형적이면서 시간의 흐름에 따라 무한 반복적인 각인에 의해 남아 있는 기억 속 이미지에서 효과적인 시각표현을 찾고자 한다.;Human beings to continue their lives with experiences, recognize and define implicated self elements as a feeling and a concept. As John Dewey stated that a feeling is formed through a memory of an experience, countless memories hidden in our subconsciousness come out by any means of an occasion. Both a master piece of an artist and a feeling of a memory basically express an feeling from within. Thus, an artist expresses human's inner world by visually reshaping his own subjective experiences within communication with and mutual reaction to the world. A piece of an artist is created through conducing a vestige in his memory to a feeling and experiencing by himself. According to Sigmund Freud, creative inspiration depends on our ability to draw out the images and the feelings that were lost in our childhood through memorizing and re-recognizing them. The memories in our childhood not only remain as its past's byproducts but also are the sources of creative inspirations to an artist by being an important role in shaping feelings, attitudes, and habits for them. Also, memories through re-recognizing and reshaping invoke common feelings that human beings have and turn to the sources that effectively transfer an image. Bergson breaks memories into two kinds: the memories of habits and the recollecting memories that bring the memories in the past back depending on the result of a repetition. This research is intended to recover and heal the research's own pure feeling by visually expressing the memories in childhood through reshaping them that are included in recollecting memory, find self and suggest a direction of an expression that draws out a communication with appreciative looker at the same time. A memory is a unclear boundary point of time between an event occurred and an event no occurred. To remember such a memory, as if the fragments of a memory upon a memory heaped on create new ones, I intended to apply light colors, and then brush a little darker colors onto my art piece using the overlapping method, or Jukmook of Korean art, to dimly express the stackful of a memory upon a memory. I intended to reshape the memories in childhood not as remembrances of simple objects. Through this, I hope that at least an inner most feeling and thought can be share with you. Also, I intended to find an effective visual expression from memories repeatedly carved in my memory as time passes by.
