Maguy Marin과 Marie Chouinard 작품에 나타난 인체 오브제화에 관한 연구

Abstract

오늘날 오브제의 사용은 예술가의 창의적이고 실험적인 사고 속에서 조형화되어 살아있는 또 다른 실체로서의 역할을 지니며 표현의 시각화를 꾀하여 자유로운 개성과 함께 무대를 총체적으로 드러내는 의지를 발휘한다. 그리하여 작품 안에서 하나의 기호와 상징성을 부여하고 주제와 내용을 전달할 뿐 아니라 주관적인 감정이 내포된 의미부여를 더하면서 관객과의 소통을 이루어낸다. 특히 무용에서의 오브제는 의미를 전달함과 동시에 강한 시각적 특색을 가져와 볼거리를 제공하면서 움직임의 선과 특성을 강화시키고 안무자가 의도한 움직임으로 표현의 영역을 넓혀 그 이미지에 대한 상상력을 증가시키는 역할을 한다. 많은 안무가들이 자신만의 철학과 미학적 관점으로 오브제를 해석하여 오브제 자체가 갖고 있는 성질을 바꾸어 관객의 궁금증을 유발하기도 하고 때로는 극화시켜 상상력을 확장시키는 방식으로 사용하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 마기 마랭의 『신데렐라 Cinderella(1985)』와 마리 쉬나르의『바디 리믹스/골드베르크 변주곡 Body Remix/Goldberg Variation(2005)』작품을 선정하여 인체를 오브제화한 특성을 밝히고자 하였으며 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 「신데렐라」는 인간존재의 순수함과 악한 면을 안무가만의 풍부한 상상력과 새로운 시각으로 재해석한 작품이며 무용수들에게 부풀려진 의상과 표정 없는 가면을 투영함으로써 인간의 감정을 가진 실제 인형으로 오브제화 하여 뻣뻣하고 분절된 움직임을 강조하였고, 독창적이면서도 신비로운, 살아있는 조형물로서의 가치를 부각시켜 극적인 표현의 확대를 이루었다. 「바디 리믹스/골드베르크 변주곡」은 토슈즈, 목발, 지팡이, 교정기 등 갖가지 신체 보조물과 무대장치를 몸에 연결함으로써 인체 오브제화를 나타내었으며 자유와 구속, 환희와 고통의 상반된 표현을 실험하여 구조적인 움직임 및 공간의 제약과 확장을 동시에 드러내고 동물과 기계적인 이미지를 상징적으로 형상화하였다. 위의 두 안무가는 인체와 오브제를 결합하여 작품 속에서 무용수가 새로운 개체로 작용될 수 있도록 만들었으며 예측할 수 없었던 움직임과 패턴을 구성하면서 창조적인 작품 전개를 펼쳐나갔다. 이처럼 인체 오브제화를 통한 안무방식은 다양하게 형상화된 새로운 이미지를 표출시키며 표현의 확대를 이루면서 실험적인 안무형태로 자리매김 할 수 있음을 보여주며 그로 인해 관객은 안무가만의 독특한 예술적 세계를 경험할 수 있는 또 다른 방법적 기회를 발견할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.;Today, using of objectification is formalized in artist's creative and experimental thinking, takes role as another living substance, and reveals stage on the whole. Therefore, it empowers one sign and symbol in work. It makes communication with audience by expressing not only topic and content but also meaning granting which subjective feelings is connoted. Objectification in dance provides spectacles by conveying meaning and strong visual traits. It strengthens line and characteristics of the movement and takes a role to increase imagination of the images by extending expression to intended movement by a choreographer. Many choreographers interpret objectification with their own philosophy and aesthetic point of view and induce audiences’ curiosity by changing the nature of the objectification. Or, sometime they use to extend imagination by dramatizing. This research is to reveal the characteristics of human body objectification with「Cinderella(1985)」by Maguy Marin and「Body Remix/Goldberg Variation(2005)」by Marie Chouinard, and the following conclusions were obtained. 「Cinderella」 is a unique work which reinterprets the purity and evil side of human being with choreography’s fertile imagination and new point of view. It also emphasized stiff and stressed movement and objectifies real doll which has human emotions with bulged clothes and expressionless mask. It is creative yet mysterious, gives prominence the value as a living sculpture, and achieved expansion of dramatic expression. 「Body Remix/Goldberg Variations」 express human body objectification by connecting toe shoes, crutches, canes, braces and various physical aids to devices for the stage. It reveals structural movement and special limitation and expansion at the same time by experimenting conflicting expression such as ‘Freedom and restraint’ and ‘joy and pain’. It also symbolized animals and mechanical images. Above two choreographers makes dancer to role as a new individual by combining human body and objectification and spread deployment of creative work by configuring unpredictable movement and pattern. Like this, choreography method through body objectification exposes various new images and shows the possibility to be an experimental choreography by expanding expression. Furthermore, it is considered to find another methodical chance so that audience may experience choreographer's unique artistic work.
