이브 생 로랑 디자인 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 디자이너 이브 생 로랑(Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint -Laurent, 1936-2008, 알-프) 디자인의 시대의 흐름에 따른 경향과 이에 내재된 미적 특성을 제시하여 이를 토대로 이브 생 로랑 디자인 이미지에 의한 고부가가치 의상을 실제로 창작하는데 목적이 있으며 나아가 미학과 패션 디자인을 융합시킨 융합학문을 제시하고자 한다. 연구방법은 선행연구를 토대로 이브 생 로랑의 패션 디자인 경향과 미적 특성을 연구하기 위해 패션 관련 자료를 중심으로 문헌연구를 하였고, 패션 관련 정보지와 컬렉션 전문 잡지 및 인터넷 사이트, DVD, 국내외 매장 및 전시회 참관을 통한 시각자료 및 실물 자료 등을 참고로 하였다. 이러한 연구를 토대로 이브 생 로랑 디자인의 미적특성을 함축시킨 컨셉을 설정한 후, 이미지 맵을 제작하고, 이브 생 로랑 디자인의 미적 특성을 반영한 디자인을 창작하였다. 이브 생 로랑이 파리에서 활동한 20세기 중후반부터 2002년까지의 패션문화사적 배경을 고찰하고, 이브 생 로랑 오트 쿠튀르 컬렉션 경향을 4시기로 구별하여 탐구하였다. 그리고 그의 컬렉션에 표현된 미적 특성을 3가지로 나누어 탐구하였다. 패션문화사적배경은 1960년대의 영세대 등장으로 대두된 영파워와 스트리트 패션, 1970년대의 하이테크와 노스탤지어, 1980년대의 젠더사상과 예술의 탈장르, 1990년대 이후의 탈획일화와 퓨전으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 이브 생 로랑 오트 쿠튀르 컬렉션에 표현된 디자인의 경향은 첫째, ‘몬드리안 룩, 스모킹(smoking) 그리고 사파리 룩', 둘째, ‘레트로와 에스닉의 판타지 룩', 셋째, ‘아트 룩에 대한 오마주(hommage)', 넷째 ‘YSL레트로 룩에 대한 오마주(hommage)'의 4가지로 고찰하였다. 1962-1969년에 표현된 경향으로 사회의 흐름과 스트리트 문화를 반영하면서 이를 자신만의 개성으로 표현하는 생 로랑만의 차별화된 혁신적인 아이덴티티를 표현한 몬드리안 룩, 스모킹(smoking) 그리고 사파리 룩. 1920-30년대를 회고하는 사회의 움직임을 시작으로 1970년부터 1978년까지 선보인 ’20-’40년대의 우아하고 글래머러스한 레트로 감각과 러시아, 지중해(모로코의 마라케슈, 알제리의 오랑), 중국, 인도 등의 에스닉 감각을 호화롭고 웅장하게 표현한 레트로와 에스닉의 판타지 룩. 당시 사회문화에 나타난 패션에 대한 거부와 혁신의 방법으로 1979년부터 1989년까지 프루스트, 세익스피어, 아폴리네르, 루이스 아라공 등의 문학과 피카소, 반 고흐, 마티스, 브라크, 보나르 등의 미술 그리고 마릴린 먼로, 샤넬, 지지 장마리에 등 아이돌에게 영감을 얻어 생 로랑의 열정과 감각으로 표출한 아트 룩에 대한 오마주(hommage). 마지막으로 더 이상 새로운 것을 창조하지 않고 자신만의 아이덴티티를 유지하고자 1990년부터 그가 은퇴한 2002년까지 이미 선보였던 자신의 작품들을 프랑스 전통의 완벽함과 화려함을 추구하며 자신의 클래식 스타일을 선보인 YSL’레트로 룩에 대한 오마주(hommage) 등의 경향으로 나뉘었다. 이상의 이브 생 로랑 오트쿠튀르 컬렉션에 내재된 미적 특성은 Modern Ambiguity, Exotic Hybridization, Hommage to Art으로 구분하였다. 첫 째, Modern Ambiguity는 모던함에 바탕을 두고 ‘매혹(charme)’이라는 우아함의 새로운 개념을 핵심으로 하여 남성복의 스모킹을 여성복으로 창조하였다. 이처럼 생 로랑은 성의 전환을 시키며 여성복에 성의 해방과 생동감을 부여하여 표현하였다. 둘 째, Exotic Hybridization은 러시아, 지중해의 모로코(마라케슈), 알제리, 중국 , 인도 등에서 얻은 화사한 컬러와 풍성한 실루엣의 에스닉 감각과 히피문화의 자유와 쾌락적인 해방감에 현대성을 혼합시켜 그의 아이덴티티로 표출한 것이다. 셋 째, Hommage to Art는 프루스트, 세익스피어, 아폴리네르, 루이스 아라공 등의 문학과 몬드리안, 피카소, 마티스, 반 고흐 등의 미술 그리고 아이돌에게 영감을 얻어 그들의 자유와 해방을 심플한 형태와 강렬한 색채로써 그의 감각과 열정을 패션에 표현한 것이다. 이상과 같은 이브 생 로랑의 외형형태인 디자인 분석과 내적내용인 미적 특성의 규명을 토대로 이브 생 로랑 이미지의 3가지 드레스 디자인을 실제로 기획하고 제작하였다. 첫째로, Modern Ambiguity속에서 표현된 남성적이면서 매혹적인 파워를 지닌 여성이미지의 컨셉을 ‘Urban Ardor’으로 표현하였다. 여성의 파워와 섬세하고 매혹적인 이미지를 나타내고자, 이브 생 로랑이 장식했던 하트 문양을 텍스타일 소재와 새틴으로 블랙 앤 화이트의 매혹적인 스모킹 재킷으로 표현하였다. 둘째로, Exotic Hybridization에 내재된 모로코, 스페인의 에스닉 감각과 모던함이 혼합된 ‘Modern Ethnic'을 컨셉으로한 앙상블을 표현하였다. 추상무늬로 DTP (Digital Textile Printing)기법으로 제작한 새틴 드레스는 미드나잇 블루와 화이트의 강렬하고 모던한 컬러대비와 아방가르드하고 풍성한 드레이핑으로 벌룬 실루엣을 이루었다. 여기에 화이트 스웨이드 소재의 볼레로 재킷으로 표현하였다. 셋째로, 예술의 대한 열정을 패션으로 표현한 Hommage to Art는 자유와 순수를 추구한 미니멀감각과 팝아트 감각의 컨셉을 ‘Minimal Pop’으로 표현하였다. 심플한 화이트 미니드레스에 이브 생 로랑이 사용했던 도트와 하트 문양의 팝아트 이미지를 여러 겹으로 된 쇼킹핑크컬러의 입체적 모티프로 제작하여 가슴과 등 부분에 부착하여 대담하고 강렬한 장식성을 표현하였다. 본 연구는 디자이너 이브 생 로랑과 그의 디자인에 대한 총체적인 접근을 통하여 그의 20세기 패션의 방향을 직시할 수 있으며, 그의 디자인 전체를 다룬 미학적 규명의 실질적인 연구 자료가 될 수 있도록 하였다.;The purpose of this study is to present the mergence of present fashion design and aesthetics, suggesting the tendency of designs of Yves Saint Laurent evolved in generation and the immanent aesthetic quality, by actually designing the high quality clothing of the image of Yves Saint Laurent based on this suggestion. The method of study, based on previous investigations, has the purpose of investigating the tendency and aesthetic quality of Yves Saint Laurent design, and it is going to be executed by researching documents which mainly are the materials related to fashion. Materials are references of the fashion information magazine, special collection magazine, internet site, visual material and actual material gained by attending to the domestic and foreign exhibitions and shops, and DVD. Based on this investigation, the researcher actually created a design based on the image of Yves Saint Laurent. The researcher examined the generational fashion-cultural background of fashion from mid 20th century to 2002, Also, the researcher invested on the fashion-cultural background starting from 1960, separating it into the young-power and street fashion, high-tech and nostalgia in 1970, gender and free-genre of art in 1980, free-uniformity and fusion since 1990. The design tendency expressed in Yves Saint Laurent's Haute Couture collection is separated into four parts, firstly ‘Mondrian look, Smoking & Safari Look', secondly ‘Fantasy Look of Retro & Ethnic', thirdly ‘ Hommage to Art Look', and fourthly ‘Hommage to YSL's Retro Look'. The trend, Mondrian Look, Smoking & Safari Look appeared from 1962 to 1969, expressed the distinctive and innovative identity of Yves Saint Laurent, reflecting the social trend and street culture and expressing his own character transforming it to the traditional style. The trend, Fantasy Look of Retro & Ethnic from 1970 to 1978, appeared as Ethnic-Spirit influenced by Russia, Algeria(Oran), Morocco(Marrakesh), China and as Retro-Spirit which was glamorous and fascinating gracefulness in 1920-40. The trend Hommage to Art Look from 1979 to 1989, expressed flamboyantly through the sensation and his passion for literature of Proust, Shakespeare, Apollinaire, Aragon and Fine art of Picasso, Gogh, Matisse, Braque, Bonnard and his idols who is Marilyn Monroe, Chanel and so forth. Hommage to YSL's Retro Look which was shown his own classic style from 1990 to 2002 before his retirement reinterpreted the pieces before 1990 to pursue the traditions of France which are chic and extravagance. The aesthetic characteristics immanent in Yves Saint Laurent's Haute Couture Collection were Modern Ambiguity, Exotic Hybridization and Hommage to Art & Artist. Firstly, Modern Ambiguity, based on modernness, transformed the mannish element into feminine element and gave the woman's clothing with the liberation of gender and vitality by attempting the transformati -on of gender, accentuating the new concept of fascinating gracefulness. Secondly, Exotic Hybridization expressed his identity combining the traditional spirit influenced by Morocco, Spain and modernism, express -ing the freedom and flamboyance of Ethnic and Hippie Culture. Thirdly, Hommage to Art & Artist expressed the fashion of colors, details and patterns inspired by his passion for literature(Proust, Shakespeare, Apollinaire, Aragon), Fine art(Picasso, Gogh, Matisse, Braque, Bonnard) and his Idols (Marilyn Monroe, Chanel) Based on the aesthetic examination of Yves Saint Laurent, the researcher managed and planed three designs of the design image of Yves Saint Laurent. Firstly, the mannish and fascinating feminine image shown in Modern Ambiguity is expressed as the concept of ‘Urban Ardor’. It is expressed by black and white smoking jacket using leathery and handloom-weaving fabric to express the woman power and delicate image. Secondly, combined image of flamboyant and exuberant Ethnic Spirit of Morocco, Spain in Exotic Hybridization, and modernness are expressed as the concept of 'Modern Ethnic'. It is expressed by mini dress and bolero jacket using strong color contrast and asymmetrical draping based on fabric which the researcher made by digital textile printing with mid night blue and white color . Thirdly, the characteristic of Hommage to Art & Artist which expressed the passion for art, is expressed as the concept of ‘Minimal Pop’ with sense of pop art and neoplasticism. It is expressed by mixing of the simple white synthetic leather mini dress and shocking-pick color's motif of dot, heart shape to make three- dimensional effect. This study would enable the direct observation for the direction of fashion in 20th century, through the integrated approach to Yves Saint Laurent and his design, and it would be the actual research material for the aesthetic examination of his design overall.
