속옷의 조형적 특성을 응용한 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

의복은 물리적 기능 이외에 자신을 표현하고 가꾸어 주는 하나의 미적 표현물로서 현대인들에게 지속적인 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 현대 패션에서는 모든 다차원적 예술형태로부터 디자인 모티프를 발굴하여 새로운 이미지로 창출하려는 경향이 주목된다. 의복의 외적인 표현을 위해 신체의 보정에 있어서 가장 중요한 역할을 한 것은 속옷이었다. 속옷을 감추려고만 했던 과거와는 다르게 현대패션에서는 속옷이 표현의 요소로 사용되어지고 있다. 현대 패션 디자인에서는 속옷이 겉옷 못지않게 인체의 미를 부각시키고 실루엣을 표현하는 핵심적인 역할함과 동시에 속옷 소비자의 폭이 크게 넓어지고 감성적 요구가 다양해져 그 중요성이 새롭게 인식되고 있다. 본 연구는 속옷에 관한 종류와 기능에 대해 살펴보고 속옷의 이미지를 응용하여 작품을 제작함으로써 미적 요소로서 속옷에 대한 이해를 높이며 더 나아가 패션디자인 모티프로서 표현가능성의 범위를 확대함에 목적이 있다. 또한 속옷에 대한 일반적 고찰을 통해 속옷에 대한 개념과 특성을 살펴보고, 속옷 아이템 중 파운데이션의 기능적 역할 및 조형적 요소를 조사하였다. 이를 토대로 속옷을 응용한 패션디자인 사례를 분석하여 디자인의 모티프로서의 가능성을 확인하여 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 방법은 선행 연구논문과 문헌을 토대로 한 이론적 연구 방법과 함께 전문월간지, 패션매거진, 인터넷 사이트 등을 통해 사례를 수집, 분석하여 실증적 연구방법을 병행하였다. 속옷이미지 패션디자인의 경향을 분석하기 위해 중심자료로는 세계4대 패션컬렉션(파리,밀라노,런던,뉴욕) 프레타포르테, 오뜨 꾸띄르 컬렉션을 대상으로 2004년 Spring&Summer에서 2009 Fall&Winter컬렉션까지 자료를 활용하여 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 제작된 작품을 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 디자인 원천으로서 파운데이션의 형태와 구조를 분석하여 현대 패션에 접목시켰을 경우 다채롭고 독창적인 디자인 창출이 가능하며 인체의 유연한 여성적인 곡선미를 극대화 시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 대중적 캐주얼 이미지를 지닌 진(jean)소재에 속옷의 레이스 업, 훅 앤 아이, 코딩기법, 파고팅 기법, 자수장식과 같은 장식요소들을 결합한 결과 속옷이 지닌 관능적인 측면을 부각시키지 않고 부드럽고 섬세한 여성적인 이미지로 표현 될 수 있었다. 셋째, 브래지어 컵라인과 캡, 파운데이션의 절개라인을 사용함으로써 보정용 파운데이션의 이미지를 최대한 부각 시킬 수 있었다. 넷째, 실용적이고 단순한 진 소재에 의한 패션디자인에 파운데이션의 조형적 요소를 응용한 결과 속옷아이템이 겉옷에서도 디자인의 다양한 창출 뿐 아니라 부가가치를 부여할 수 있는 바람직한 표현 모티프임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 속옷에 대한 고찰과 현대 여성복에 응용되고 있는 속옷의 겉옷화 패션에서 디자인 요소를 재발견하고 이를 다양하게 활용하여 무한한 디자인의 원천으로 제시 할 수 있었다. 그러므로 본 연구가 의상에 있어서 속옷의 적극적 활용은 현대 패션을 독창적으로 표현하는 데 도움이 되기를 기대한다.;Clothes have not only a physical function but also an aesthetic expression by which people express and improve themselves, hence the continuing interest in fashion in the modern society. The trend of modern fashion is to create a new image by discovering design motifs from the multidimensional art forms. Here, underwear plays the most significant role to supplement the body for an optimal visual expression. Contrary to the past culture of concealing underwear, today it is used as an expressive element in the modern fashion. Underwear of the modern fashion design significantly functions to emphasize the beauty of one’s body and express the silhouette as much as the usual exterior clothes do. Simultaneously consumers of underwear and their sensible demands became more diversified, hence highlighting the importance of underwear. The aim of the study was to examine the type and function of underwear, and create a work by using the image of underwear so as to enhance understanding of the underwear and expand its expressive possibility as a fashion design motif. Moreover a general review of the underwear was made to examine its concept and feature. Among underwear items, the functional role and formative element of the foundation garment were analyzed. Consequently the case study of the fashion design applying underwear was analyzed, the possibility of using underwear as a design motif was verified, and finally a work was created based on the findings. The method of the study included a review of the previous studies, a theoretical research method based on the literature, and an empirical research through collecting and analyzing examples from the academic periodicals, fashion magazines, and Internet websites. The main data used to analyze the fashion design trend with the image of underwear included Pret-a-Porter and Haute Couture collections of the major four international fashion collections in Paris, Milan, London, and New York, from the 2004 Spring & Summer Collection to 2009 Fall & Winter Collection. The results of the study through a created work based on the findings are as follows. First, a diverse and unique design was created by applying the analysis of the foundation garment’s pattern and structure as a source of design to the modern fashion. In addition it optimized a soft feminine contour of the body. Second, a sensual aspect of the underwear was subdued and a soft and sensitive feminine image was created by combining the jean material with its popular and casual image and the decorative elements of underwear such as lace up, hook and eye, coding technique, fagotting technique, and embroidery. Third, the image of a corrective foundation garment was optimally emphasized by using the cup line and cap of brassiere, and cutting line of the foundation garment. Fourth, the underwear item used as exterior clothes was a desirable expressive motif that creates various designs and added values through combining formative features of the foundation garment with the fashion design from the practical and simple jean material. In conclusion, the underwear item was presented in this study as an infinite source of design by reviewing underwear, rediscovering design element of using the underwear motif for exterior clothes being applied to the modern women’s wear, and utilizing such element in various ways. Thus it is anticipated that this study will provide useful materials for creatively expressing the modern fashion by actively using underwear in fashion.
