회피애착과 도움추구태도와의 관계에서 자기은폐와 정서표현억제의 매개효과 검증

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 회피애착과 자기은폐, 정서표현억제, 도움추구태도 간의 관계를 살펴보고, 회피애착과 도움추구태도 간의 관계에서 자기은폐와 정서표현억제의 매개효과에 대해 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 자기은폐와 정서표현억제가 회피애착과 도움추구태도 사이를 각각 매개할 것이라는 가설을 토대로 다중매개모형을 설정하였다. 위의 연구가설을 검증하기 위해, 서울에 소재한 7개 4년제 대학의 대학생 572명(남성 250명, 여성 319명)을 대상으로 성인의 낭만적 애착 척도(Experiences in Close Relationships Scale; ECRS), 자기은폐척도(Self-concealment Scale; SCS), 정서표현억제척도(Attitude Toward Emotional Expression Scale; ATEES), 도움추구태도척도(Attitude Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale; ATSPPHS)로 구성된 질문지를 배포, 수거하였다. 이 중 불성실하게 응답한 3명의 질문지를 제외하여 총 569개의 질문지가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 회피애착과 도움추구태도 사이에서 자기은폐의 매개효과는 통계적으로 유의미하지 않은 것으로 밝혀졌다. 반면에, 자기은폐 경향과 정적 상관이 높은 정서표현억제 경향은 회피애착과 도움추구태도 간의 관계를 효과적으로 매개하였다. 이와 같은 결과는, 자기은폐 경향은 회피애착 수준이 높은 개인이 부정적인 도움추구태도를 갖게 되는 경로를 효과적으로 설명하지 못한다는 것을 보여준다. 그러나 회피애착 수준이 높은 개인이 정서적 경험을 불편해하고 정서 표현에 거부감을 갖는다면 전문적 도움 추구에 대해 부정적인 태도를 가질 수 있다. 따라서 회피애착 수준이 높은 내담자들의 정서적 표현의 어려움을 공감해주며 정서 표현 기술을 차츰 개발해나가도록 돕는다면 전문적 상담에 대한 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 보인다.;The purpose of this research is to identify the relationships among avoidant attachment, self concealment, restrictive emotionality, and help seeking attitude and then to examine multiple mediating effect of self concealment and restrictive emotionality between avoidant attachment and help seeking attitude. For this investigation, 569 undergraduates in Seoul completed a 95-item questionnaire, which consisted of items from the Experiences in Close Relationships Scale (ECRS), Self-concealment Scale (SCS), Attitude Toward Emotional Expression Scale (ATEES), and Attitude Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale (ATSPPHS). SPSS 17.0 program was used to examine the descriptive statistics, and AMOS 7.0 program was used to conduct structural equation modeling analysis. The results of current study are following: Restrictive emotionality fully mediated the relationship between avoidant attachment and help seeking attitude. However, self concealment did not mediate significantly the relationship between avoidant attachment and help seeking attitude. It showed that avoidant attachment did not predict effectively help seeking attitude by self concealment. On the other hand, if a person who belong to avoidant attachment style feels uncomfortable of expressing strong emotion, he/she could have negative attitude toward seeking professional psychological help. Thus, it would be effective strategies that counselors could not only sympathize with client's difficulties of revealing the emotion but also help developing skills of expressing emotion.
