의학도서관에서의 잡지 이용실태에 관한 연구

Abstract

의학도서관에서 1년 예산의 대부분은 의학잡지의 구입과 보존을 위하여 소비된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 한정된 예산으로 보다 충실한 봉사를 이용자에게 제공할 수 있는 지침을 마련하기 위하여 서울대학교 의학도서관을 대상으로 2개월에 걸쳐 의학잡지 이용실태를 조사하였다. 이용실태조사 결과를 약술하면 다음과 같다. 1. 2개월의 조사기간동안 이용자 요구의 100％를 충족시키는데 전체 소장잡지 1,390종 중에서 439종(31.58％)이 이용되었다. 그리고 현재 구독 중인 잡지 649종 중에서는 381종(58.70％)이 이용되었다. 2. 30종의 핵심잡지군에 대한 이용은 전체 이용의 38.31％ (2,033회)에 해당되고, 이 잡지들에 대한 구독료는 이용된 전체 잡지구독료 총액의 7.14％이다. 3. 이용자 요구의 90％를 충족시키기 위해서는 이용된 439종의 잡지 중에서 201종이 이용되었고, 이들에 대한 구독료는 이용된 전체 잡지구독료 총액의 .59.27％이다. 4. 의학잡지의 반감기는 7.38년으로 측정되었다. 5. 이용률이 높은 13종의 잡지에 대한 반감기는 9.7년으로 측정되었다. 6. 이용된 의학잡지의 출판국은 미국이 229종(52.2％), 영국이 68종(15.5％), 한국이 66종(15％)이다. 이것을 다시 언어별로 분석하면, 영어가 351종으로 이용된 전체 잡지의 80％를 차지하고 있고 전체 이용자 요구의 90％를 충족시켰다.;Medical library consume most of their annual budget for acquisition and maintenance of medical journals. The aim of this paper lies in searching for the guidelines which might assist the librarians in providing sufficient and satisfying service to users. In order to gather the first hand information, an actual survey was undertaken for the journal usage at the medical library of Seoul National University for two months. The result of the survey can be summarized as follows： 1. To satisfy 100％ of the user demand 439 journals (31.58％) of the whole journal collection (1,390 journals) were used during the two months period of the survey. And out of 649 journals being subscribed, only 381 journals (58.70％) were actually used. 2. The use ratio of key journal group covering 30 journal was 38.3l％(2,033 times), and the subscription fee for these journals formed 7.14％, of the total journal subscription amount. 3. To satisfy 90％ of the total demand, 20l journals of the 439 journals used were found, and the subscription fee for these journals formed 59.27％ of the total journal subscription amount. 4. Medical journal has a half-life of 7.38 years. 5. 13 journals as the most frequently used medical journals have a half-life of 9.7 years. 6. Countries of publication of the journals are U.S. with 229 journals (52.2％). England with 68 journals (15.5％), and Korea with 66 journals (15％). To analysis by language shows 351 English journals covering 80％ of the journals collection, and satisfy 90％ of the total demand.
