무용표현 형식으로써의 Gesture에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare the gesture as an expressional form of dance with common gesture. The gesture of comprehensive meaning is a phenomenon that one's feeling or idea is expressed to exterior world through some bodily movements. Hero observed how common gesture is introduced into dancing gesture to be expressed. Gesture is a body language before verbal language, a language common to all human races, survived from the first generation of the human kind. The function of the gesture we are using in everyday lives may be divisible into the gesture as a means of language expression and that as a process of emotional expression. And the gesture as an expressional form of dance functions : 1) according to the elements of dancers' phisical expression. 2) as the element of phychological and emotional performance. 3) as character-building up. 4) and, in accordance with the developments of time, space, background and plot. When the gesture as an expressional form of dance is to be employed, there should be such characteristics in the gesture as such as rhythm, tempo, symbolism, accuracy in expression and universality. To be re-created into the stage language of normal life, however, it has to be escaped from mere imitation of naturel and also, should be followed by systematic and gradual, interal and external learning practices. Our form of dance un the stage upon this beaming should express the general and sincere inner-heart of man always recognizing the importance of the natural law that may be the source of the most original and basic gestures.; 제스추어는 인류가 생성될 당시부터 존재해온 언어 이전의 몸짓 언어이며 인류공통의 언어인 것이다. 넓은 의미의 gesture는 신체의 일부를 움직여서 자신의 감정이나 사상을 외부로 표현하는 현상이다. 이러한 일상적인 gesture가 무용적 gesture로 도입되어 어떻게 표현되는지에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 우리가 일상 생활에서 사용하고 있는 gesture의 기능에는 언어표현 수단으로써의 gesture와 정보를 전달하는 gesture, 감정을 표현하는 gesture의 유형이 있다. 그리고 무용의 표현형식으로서 gesture의 기능은 1) 무용수의 신체표현 요소에 따른 제스츄어 2) 연기적 요소(심리 및 정서표현)로서의 제스츄어 3) 인물 구축으로서의 제스츄어 4) 시·공간배경 및 plot전개에 따른 제스츄어가 있다. 무용 표현형식으로서의 제스츄어는 리듬과 템포, 상징성, 표현의 명확성, 표현성 등의 특성을 가지고 있어야 한다. 하지만 일상생활의 무대언어로써 재창조 되기 위해서는 단순한 자연의 모방에서 탈피하여 체계적이고 단계적인 내적, 외적 학습이 필요하다. 이런 학습을 통한 무대위에서의 무용형태는 보편적이며 진실된 내면을 표현하여 가장 원초적이며 기본적인 몸짓의 발원이 되는 자연법의 중요성을 늘 인식해야 한다.
