Claude A. Debussy의 피아노 음악에 관한 연구

Abstract

클로드 드뷔시(Claude Achille Debussy, 1862-1918)은 20세기 음악에서 중요한 위치를 차지하는 작곡가로서 19세기 후반 지배적이었던 독일 낭만주의의 음악과는 다른 새로운 시도를 통해 자신만의 특별한 음악세계를 구축한 작곡가이다. 그는 전통적인 화성이나 조성 법칙에 얽매이지 않고, 5음음계, 온음음계, 선법 등 다양한 음계들과 병행화음, 복합화음, 다양한 리듬형 등을 자신의 작품 안에서 다양한 음색과 분위기를 표현하는데 사용하였다. 그의 이러한 독특한 음악양식은 당시의 예술흐름이었던 상징주의 문학과 인상주의 회화에 영향을 받았다고 볼 수 있다. 특히, 빛에 변화에 따라 순간적으로 보여 지는 인상의 다양성을 표현하고 뚜렷한 형태보다는 분위기와 색채를 중요시하였던 당시의 인상주의 회화와 닮았다고 하여 음악에서의 대표적 인상주의 음악가로 지칭되었으며, 드뷔시 작품의 제목이나 지시사항 등에서 볼 수 있는 묘사적이고 상징적이며, 감각적인 언어들은 상징주의 문학의 영향이라고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 그의 대표적 피아노 작품 중 하나인 &#65378;영상 Ⅱ&#65379; (ImagesⅡ)를 중심으로 그의 피아노 음악의 특징과 더불어 상징주의와 인상주의의 영향의 증거들, 드뷔시만의 색채를 효과적으로 표현하는 음악어법과 여러 요소들을 작품 안에서 분석하고 연구함으로써 드뷔시 피아노 음악의 이해를 돕고자 한다. 1907년 작곡된 &#65378;영상 Ⅱ&#65379;는 총 3곡으로 구성되어있으며, 불협화음적 화성진행, 동양적인 온음음계와 5음음계 및 선법의 사용 등을 통해 곡 전체의 분위기를 효과적이고 인상적으로 표현하고 있다. 제1곡인 <나뭇잎을 스치는 종소리>(Cloches a travers les feuilles)는 멀리서 들려오는 종소리와 바람에 흔들리는 나뭇잎소리를 온음음계, 5음음계, 병행화음 등을 사용함으로써 회화적으로 잘 묘사하고 있으며, 제2곡 <황폐한 사원에 걸린 달>(Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut) 은 병행화음과 부가화음, 5음 음계의 사용을 통해 전체적으로 사원(le temple)의 동양적인 신비스러움을 잘 표현하고 있다. 마지막 곡인 <금붕어>(Poisson d'or) 는 세 곡 중 가장 생동감 있고 화려한 곡으로 금붕어가 물 속에서 자유롭게 헤엄치는 모습을 선율이나 화성, 리듬의 다채로운 변화를 통해 잘 표현하고 있다. 먼저 드뷔시의 피아노 음악 작품과 그 안에서 나타나는 특징적인 음악적 경향을 전체적으로 간단히 살펴 본 후, &#65378;영상 Ⅱ&#65379;에 대한 분석 하고자 한다.;Claude Achille Debussy(1862-1918) was one of the important composers in the 20 century's music and a extra-ordinary one who had tried to establish his unique special music field through a new approach against German Romantic Music which had been dominant in the late of 19's Century. He expressed his musical color and atmosphere by adapting his own versatile music scales such as a pentatonic scale, a diatonic scale, a church mode, etc. by unconfined traditional harmony or law of composition. It is known that his unique music style was affected by symbolic literature and impressionism paintings. Since he expressed the varieties of impression instantly to be seen according to the changes of light especially, his music was resembled impressionism paintings which lay a stress seriously on an atmosphere and color rather than a distinct shape and it made him be designated a representative impression musician. It is noted that the descriptive, symbolic and sensible language as shown in the titles, indicated matters, etc. of his works comes under the influence of symbolic literatures. The present thesis selected &#65378;Images Ⅱ&#65379; as one of his representative piano works. And this thesis presents the characteristics of a Debussy piano music and the evidences resulted from Symbolism and Impressionism. It help us the better understandings of Debussy's piano music by analyzing and investigating his own mode of an effective expression of color and detail elements intrinsically contained in his works. The &#65378;Images Ⅱ&#65379; was composed of total three pieces of music and expressed the music atmosphere through the progression of disharmony chord, an oriental pentatonic scale, a diatonic scale and an usuage of church mode. The first music, <Cloches a travers les feuilles>, describes clearly the sound of bell and swinging leaves of tree swinging by using the pentatonic scale, a diatonic scale, an parallel chord, etc.. The second music, <Et la lune descend sur le temple qui fut>, describes very well the oriental mystery of the temple by using the parallel chord, additional chord and diatonic scale. The last music <Poisson d'or> which is most vividness and magnificent among the three pieces of music presents very well the image of a goldfish which is freely swimming in the water by the melody, chord and rhythm with the multifarious changes. After the works of Debussy's music and the typical trend of his music are investigated on the whole at first, &#65378;Images Ⅱ&#65379; will be analysed in detail.
