죠스캥 데 프레(Josquin des Prez)의 미사 <헤르쿨레스 둑스 페라리(Hercules dux Ferrarie)>에 관한 분석

Abstract

르네상스 시기(Renaissance)는 음악사적으로 중세와 바로크 시기를 연결하는 시기로 15세기에서 16세기에 해당한다. 이 시기는 음악적으로 많은 성장을 하게 된 중요한 시기로 이는 15세기 후반 요하네스 오케겜 (Johannes Ockeghem, 1470-1497)을 시작으로 나타난 플랑드르 악파에 의해 본격적으로 시작되었다. 플랑드르 악파는 4성부를 중심으로 다성 음악을 작곡하였고 각 성부가 동등한 기능을 갖는 대위적인 기법을 많이 사용하였다. 뿐만 아니라 이들은 교회 음악과 함께 다양한 세속 음악을 작곡하였고 이전과 달리 가사에 관심을 많이 갖게 되었다. 이 시대 음악에서의 가사 표현을 중시한 대표적인 작곡가로는 플랑드르 악파의 절정을 이루어 놓은 죠스캥 데 프레(Josquin des Prez, 1440-1521)가 있다. 그는 르네상스를 대표하는 작곡가 겸 음악가로 미사, 모테트를 비롯한 교회 음악과 더불어 많은 세속 음악을 작곡하였다. 특히, 그의 미사 작품은 전통적인 음악 양식과 더불어 그만의 독창적인 창조성이 돋보이는 전형적인 음악 장르로 르네상스 음악의 전형을 보여준다. 그의 미사 작품은 작곡 기법에 의해 정선율 미사(Cantus Firmus Mass), 패러 프레이즈 미사(Paraphrase Mass), 패러디 미사(Parody Mass), 소제토 카바토 기법(Soggetto Cavato)에 의한 미사, 캐논 미사(Canonic Mass)로 분류된다. 죠스캥 데 프레의 대표적인 미사 작품인 <헤르쿨레스 둑스 페라리 (Hercules Dux Ferrarie)>는 그의 후원자인 페라라 공작의 이름을 소제토 카바토 기법에 적용하여 선율을 만들어 내었고 이를 정선율(Cantus Firmus)로 사용하고 있다. 이 작품은 미사 양식 중 소제토 카바토 기법에 의한 미사이자 정선율 미사에 해당한다. 이 작품은 키리에, 글로리아, 크레도, 쌍투스, 아뉴스 데이의 총 5곡으로 이루어져 있으며 르네상스 시대 많이 사용된 대위적 기법을 비롯하여 밀접한 음악과 가사의 관계, 전위형을 포함하여 다양한 형태의 3화음, 소제토 카바토의 사용 등 르네상스 음악의 특징과 함께 죠스캥만의 음악적 특징이 잘 나타난다.;Renaissance music that had developed from the late 15th century to the 16th century made a spectacular growth in the history of music by Franco-Flemish school. Franco-Flemish school reached the acme at Josquin des Prez(1440-1521) after the pioneers, Johannes Ochkegem and Jacob Obrecht. Josquin des Prez, born in Belgium,isoneoftimelessgreatcomposersaswellastherepresentativeofrenaissancecomposers.He composed about 20 masses, 100 motets, secular music including chanson, and 10 instrumental works. Particularly, Josquin established important stylistic innovation in renaissance mass. His masses can be divided into five categories by compositional technique: cantus firmus mass, paraphrase mass, parody mass, mass by soggetto cavato and canonic mass. Missa HerculesduxFerrarie,therepresentativeworkofhismasses,isnotonlycantusfirmusmassbutalsomassbysoggettocavato.Thisworkisusingthecantusfirmusmadebysoggettocavatothatreliesontheuseofsyllablesfromsolmization. The cantus firmus of this work almost found in tenor part is comprised of notes drawn from the musical syllables of Hercules dux Ferrarie. The cantus firmus is straight forward and is repeated three times in almost every section. Also the cantus firmus is transformed as retrograde and diminution in Credo, Agnus dei, and Sanctus of this work. The motive from the beginning of Kyrie is developed through all movements. In aspect of harmonic usage, triadic sounds are increased especially in cadence. This work reveals Josquin’s interest in relationship between text and music. Josquin tried to express text effectively using melodic contour and syllabic progression. Josquin des Prez’s mass, HerculesduxFerrarieshowscharacteristicsofhisownmusicaswellasofrenaissancemusic.
