초현실주의 데페이즈망 기법을 응용한 패션 스타일링 연구

Abstract

현대사회의 빠른 기술변혁과 진보는 모든 분야의 미의식을 형식이나 전통에 구애받지 않는 자유분방한 표현을 가능하게 하였다. 패션은 개개인의 개성과 라이프스타일을 가장 잘 표현해주는 매개체로서 대중적인 수준에 머물러있지 않고 개성이 존중되어 차별화, 다양화되어가고 있다. 이에 따라 신체적 매력이나 외모에 더욱 관심을갖고 구체화된 수단을 통해 자신을 표현하려는 경향이 더욱 강해지고 있다. 자신의 욕구를 만족시켜주고, 더 나아가 획일화된 패션 스타일에서 개성이 중시되는 패션 스타일링이 중요한 위치로 자리잡게 된 것이다. 1920년대를 거쳐 1930년대에 대두된 초현실주의는 원래 순수 예술분야에서 출발했지만, 다른 어떤 예술보다도 상업적인 미술과 패션계에 끼친 영향은 크다. 초현실주의는 의식과 무의식의의 경험표현을 위해 다양한 기법이 시도되어 왔으며 그 중에서도 데페이즈망기법은 현실적인 대상들을 낯선 곳에서 위치시키거나 조합해서 그 의미, 용도, 기능을 상실케 하여 충격을 주는 기법이다. 이러한 초현실주의 데페이즈망 기법은 패션에서도 그 특징적 요소를 잘 반영하고 있음을 알 수 있는데, 1930년대의 디자이너인 엘자스키아빠렐리(Elsa Schiaparelli)는 그 독보적인 위치를 차지하였으며, 그 영향은 지금도 여러 디자이너들에 의해 다양하게 응용되고 있다. 본 연구는 감성언어로 표현 되어지고 데페이즈망 기법을 응용한 패션 스타일링의 효과적인 이미지의 연출을 위해 의상, 색상, 소재, 액세서리, 헤어 및 메이크업, 모델 등의 스타일링 요소들을 적절하게 조합함으로써 8점의 패션스타일링 이미지를 제시하였다. 이는 패션스타일링에 있어서의 개념, 기능 및 역할과 패션스타일링 기법의 유형을 이론적으로 정립함과 동시에 스타일링 연구 방법의 체계를 세우고 패션 분야에 있어서 창의적, 혁신적 스타일을 제시하여 궁극적으로는 이를 통해 패션 스타일링이 패션 이미지 제안부문에 있어서선도적 역할을 수행함을 목적으로 한다. 이론적 연구를 통하여 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패션스타일링에 관한 일반적 고찰을 통해서 종래의 패션과 다른 새로운 스타일링을 제안하고, 소비자로 하여금 소비를 유도할 수있다. 광고․�홍보 분야, 패션 매거진 등의 출판 분야, 패션쇼 및 이벤트분야, 방송․�연예 분야 등 패션 이미지 연출이 요구되는 다양한 분야에서 창의적인 스타일리스트의 역할이 중요해 지고 있다는 것을 인지할 수 이 잘 조화되어야 함을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 패션 스타일링의 이미지 창출을 위해서 먼저 고바야시의 이미지 스케일의 감성언어를 찾아본 결과 「sweet and dreamy」, 「romantic」,「refined」, 「innocent」, 「pure and elegant」, 「pretty」, 「smooth」, 「mysterious」, 등의 부드러운 계열의 언어로 표현할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 예술사조인 초현실주의의 데페이즈망 기법은 어떤 물체를 본래 있던 곳에서 떼어내는 것으로써 이질적인 요소들을 한 곳에 결합시키거나, 어떤 오브제를 전혀 엉뚱한 곳에 위치시켜서 시각적인충격과 신비감을 불러일으키는 기법이다. 데페이즈망 기법은 회화나 건축 등 예술 분야에 많은 영향을 주었으며, 특히 패션과의 연관 관계가 밀접하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 초현실주의의 데페이즈망 기법은 은유적 표현, 위치 전환, 착시, 신체의 상징화의 특징으로 분류되어 짐을 알 수 있었다. 은유적 표현은 사물의 은유와 생물의 무생물화의 특징으로 나뉘어진다. 사물의 은유란 복식과 관계가 적은 일상 용품들을 의복 위에 재배열해 우연한 만남을 시도한 것으로 사물의 본질을 혼돈하게 만드는 것이다. 생물의 무생물화란 자연의 소재가 복식에 의해 새롭게 표현된 것으로 초현실주의적 표현을 위해 주로 사용되는 자연 오브제는 꽃, 나무, 조류가 대표적인 사례임을 알 수 있었다. 의복의 전․�후 도치, 상․�하 도치, 내의와 외의의 전환 등 전통을 거부하고 억압된 무의식의 욕구를 분출하면서 기존의 고정관념을 탈피할 때에 의외의 유머러스함이 발생함을 알 수 있었다. 착시는 '트롱프뢰유(Tromp L'oeil)의 '눈속임'이라는 뜻을 내포한다. 옷 위에 옷을 겹쳐 입은 듯 해 보이지만 실제로는 이질적인 디테일이 모두 붙어서 하나의 아이템으로 디자인 된 페이크 레이어링, 칼라와 커프스, 절개선이 있는 것처럼 니팅한 스웨터, 화려한 장식이 돋보이는 프린트 된 목걸이 등 착시를 목적으로 하는 사례들이 많음을 알 수 있었다. 신체의 상징화란 신체의 한 부분을 신체에서 이탈시켜 미적 대상으로 개체화시켜 상징적으로 나타낸 것을 의미한다. 패션이미지 연출에 많이 응용되어지는 신체의 부위는 눈, 입술, 가슴, 얼굴, 발이 대표적인 사례임을 알 수 있었다. 손이나 입술이 머리를 장식하는 장신구의 역할을 하기도 하며, 신발 위에 위트있게 드로잉 된 발가락의 표현은 기존의 관념을 이탈하여 해체주의적인 의미를 표현함을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 초현실주의의 데페이즈망 기법을 응용한 패션 스타일링의 사례를 분석하여 유머러스한 이미지의 연출, 왜곡된 형태와 꼴라쥬 기법 등이 표현되어 나타난 해학적 미와 형식의 무정형적 성향으로 의 탈피를 의미하는 해체적 미와 남성과 여성의 구분이 무의미해져 서로를 모방하는 성의 탈중심적인 미의 특성으로 분류되어짐을 알 수 있었다. 현대 패션 컬렉션과 패션 매거진을 분석해 본 결과, 초현실주의의 데페이즈망 기법을 응용한 이미지와 특성을 모티브로한 스타일이 지난 1930년대의 패션에 미친 영향만큼이나 현대 패션에도 다양하게 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 초현실주의의 데페이즈망 기법을 연구하여 분석한 결과 은유적 표현, 위치 전환, 착시, 신체의 상징화인 4가지의 큰 틀로 분류되어짐을 알 수 있었다. 데페이즈망 기법의 4가지 특징의 사례를 각각 두 가지의 디자인 모티브를 선택하여 의상 이미지를 부각시키는 스타일링을 하였다. 작품연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구의 스타일링 표현기법 즉, 은유적 표현, 위치 전환, 착시, 신체의 상징화는 표현하고자 하는 몽환적이고 신비로우면서 부드러운 로맨틱한 감성언어와 만나 기존 데페이즈망기법의 표현을새롭게 해 줌을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 색상의 조합에 있어서 8점의 의상과 헤어의 장식, 액세서리를 모두 누드핑크와 베이지 계열의 따뜻한 색채로 통일감을 주었다. 이로 인해 데페이즈망 기법의 디자인 모티브를 중심으로 스타일링 된 의상에 로맨틱 감성이 더욱 강조됨을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 메이크업은 창백한 페일 톤으로 베이지와 누드 핑크계열의 컬러 배색과 함께 피부 톤을 통일시키고, 화려한 색조 없이 선명한 아이라인으로 눈매만을 강조하였다. 헤어는 변형 없이 업스타일에 볼륨감이 있는 가채를 얹어주어 헤어 자체의 화려함을 제한하였다. 이렇게 절제된 헤어스타일과 메이크업을 통해 신비로우면서 고급스러운 이미지를 얻을 수 있었다. 넷째, 액세서리의 사용은 꽃의 형상으로 장식된 모자, 레이스 머플러, 레이스 꽃 리본 등 헤어장식은 의상의 색상과 통일감을 주어 로맨틱한 초현실주의 데페이즈망 기법이 표현 된 패션 룩을 완성할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 사진 기법에 있어서 모델의 밝은 부분이 흰 배경에 묻히는효과를 줌으로써 초현실주의의 몽환적인 이미지를 부가할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과와 같이 본 연구는 패션 룩과 예술사조, 문화사조가 적절히 조화되어 감성언어로 표현되어지는 창조적인 이미지 창출을 시도해 보았다. 예술적인 데페이즈망 기법을 괴기스럽거나 결코 과도하지 않게 적용하여 전체 이미지가 부드럽고 은은한 로맨틱 감성이 흐를 수 있도록 하였다. 사물이 갖는 고유의 이미지를 변형시켜 시각적 충격과 신비감을 불러일으키는 데페이즈망 기법이 현대패션에 있어서 하나의 패션 트렌드로서 확고한 위치로 자리매김하는 것에 주목하여 초현실주의의 데페이즈망 기법의 특징과 그에 따른 미적 특성을 분석하였다. 패션스타일링의 이론적인 접근은 아직 확고한 이론적 체계가 잡히지 않은 실정이다. 새로운 개념의 창조적인 디자인 모티브와 패션 스타일링 연구 분야에서 지속적인 연구가 꾸준히 이루어지길 기대해본다.;For the effective image production of fashion styling based on the expression with emotional language and the application of dépaysement technique, this study suggested eight images of fashion styling by combining such styling factors as clothing, color, material, accessories, hair and makeup, and model. This aims not only to theoretically establish the concept, function, role, and technical types of fashion styling, but also to build the methodological framework of styling study and suggest creative and innovative styles for fashion industry, thereby ultimately making fashion styling perform a leading role in the suggestion of fashion image. The findings of the theoretical study are as follows: First, through general investigation on fashion styling, a new styling different from the existing ones can be proposed and utilized to promote consumption. The role of creative stylists was becoming more important in various fields requiring fashion image production such as advertisement and public relation, publication including fashion magazine, fashion show and event, broadcasting and entertainment. Second, as a result of searching the emotional language of Kobayashi image scale for the image creation of fashion styling, it was found that such soft words as「sweet and dreamy」, 「romantic」, 「refined」, 「innocent」, 「pure and elegant」, 「pretty」, 「smooth」, 「mysterious」could be used for expression. Third, dépaysement of Surrealism as an artistic thought denotes the technique of separating something from the original location, which combines heterogeneous factors into one location, or locates an object on a totally decontextualized location so as to evoke a visual shock and a mysterious sense. Dépaysement technique had much influence on such artistic areas as painting and architecture, and particularly, was in close connection with fashion. Fourth, Surrealist dépaysement technique was classified into metaphorical expression, switchover of location, optical illusion, and bodily symbolism. Metaphorical expression is characteristically divided by the metaphor of things and the inanimate objectification of living things. The metaphor of things is to attempt the coincident encounter of the everyday sundries in less relation with fashion by rearranging them on clothes, making the nature of things confused. The inanimate objectification of living things is to newly express natural material by clothing, and flowers, trees, and birds were mainly utilized as the representative cases of natural objects for Surrealist expression. Unexpected humorousness was found to occur through the switchover of front and back, up and down, underwear and outerwear, etc., which were to reject the tradition and gushing out the repressed unconsciousness. Optical illusion connotes the meaning of visual deception of Tromp L'oeil. There were many cases in pursuit of optical illusion such as: a fake layering designed to be seen as a clothes overlaid on another clothes but had all heterogeneous details connected; a sweater knitted to be seen as having a collar, cuffs, and cutting lines; a necklace with the print setting off its florid decoration. Bodily symbolism refers to separating a part from the body and individualizing it as an aesthetic object. The body parts applied frequently for producing fashion image were representatively an eye, a lip, a breast or chest, a face, and a foot. A hand or a lip would serve as a hair decoration, and the witty expression of toes drawn on a shoe escaped the existing conception and denoted the meaning of deconstruction. Fifth, analyzing the cases of fashion styling based on the application of Surrealist dépaysement technique, its beauty was found to be classified into three categories: the beauty of humor such as the production of humorous image and the expression of distorted form and collage technique; the beauty of deconstruction which means the escape into the amorphous disposition of form; the decentralized beauty of mutually assimilating genders of man and woman that it became meaningless to differentiate them from each other. As a consequence of analyzing the contemporary fashion collections and magazines, it was found that the style motivated by the image and characteristic based on the application of Surrealist dépaysement technique appeared in various forms as in the contemporary fashion as its impact on the past fashion in 1930s. As a result of researching and analyzing Surrealist dépaysement technique, it was classified into four broad categories: metaphorical expression, switchover of location, optical illusion, and bodily symbolism. For the four characteristics of dépaysement technique, two design motives were selected for each case so that the styling of setting off the image of clothing was carried out. The conclusion through the work study is as follows: First, the styling expression technique of this study, such as metaphorical expression, switchover of location, optical illusion, and bodily symbolism, made new expression of the existing dépaysement technique by encountering dreamy, mysterious, soft and romantic emotional language. Second, in color combination, all of eight clothes, hair decorations, and accessories were given a sense of unity with warm colors of nude pink and beige tones. Consequently, the effect of romantic emotion appeared over the whole fashion image based on the romantically expressed design motive of dépaysement technique. Third, for makeup, the skin tone was reunified with color combination of beige and nude pink in pale tone, and the eyes were only emphasized with vivid eye line but without florid tones. For hair, loading the voluminous rolled-up hair in up-style with no tampering limited the floridity of hair itself. These moderate hair-style and makeup enabled a mysterious and luxurious image. Fourth, utilizing such accessories as hats decorated with floral figures, lace mufflers, lace flower ribbons enabled the unity of hair decoration with the color of clothing, completing a fashion look expressed with romantic Surrrealist dépaysement technique. Finally, in the technique of photography, making the effect of blurring the boundary between the highlight of the model and the white background enabled the addition of Surrealist dreamy image. As was stated above, this study attempted to make a creative image expressed with emotional language in the adequate harmony of fashion look, artistic and cultural thoughts. Application of artistic dépaysement technique in no grotesque and never excessive way enabled the soft and quiet flow of romantic emotion on the whole image.
