Alban Berg의 four pieces for clarinet and piano, op.5의 제3,4악장 분석연구

Abstract

알반 베르그 ( Alban Berg, 1885 ~ 1935 ) 의 “Four Pieces Of Clarinet And Piano", Op.5 는 베르그가 쇤베르그 (Amold Schoenberg : 1874 ~ 1951) 의 제자로부터 독립한 후 최초로 그에게 헌정된 작품으로, 그의 음악적 시기의 구분에 있어서 제 2기, 즉 무조음악의 시기인 1914년에 작곡되었다. "Four Pieces"는 쇤베르그의 소품, "Six Little Piano Pieces", Op.19에 의해 많은 영향을 받아 작곡되어진 그의 유일한 무조적 소품이다. 20 세기의 급진적이고 새로운 변화속에서도 그는 전통적 양식인 소나타 형식을 취하여 전통을 거부하기 보다는 전통의 토대 위에 새로운 음악과의 연계성을 갖는다. 무조음악은 조성음악과 12 음 음악의 과도기적 시기의 음악적 경향으로, 뚜렷한 선율선이나 주제의 발전이 급속하게 이루어진다. 구조화된 음들의 집합은 일정한 순서에 의해 나열된 것이 아니라, 구성음 사이의 관계 속에서 그 의미를 갖는다. 이러한 음정관계를 통한 집합을 음류집합 (pitch-class set ; 이하 pc set) 이라 하는데, “ Four Pieces "에서는 이러한 요소들이 악곡 전체의 구조를 결정한다. 베르그는 음류집합과 구조를 더욱 체계화하며, 비교적 자유로운 형식 안에서 조직력을 갖춘 음악을 추구하였으며, 이러한 무조성과 낭만주의의 전통적 요소들을 융합시키고자 하였다. ;Alban Berg's "Four Pieces for Clarinet and Piano", Op.5 was composed in June, 1913, the second (or atonal) period of his music. And "Four Pieces" is the first piece which is dedicated to Schoenberg, after he became independent from Schoenberg. The structure of ""Four Pieces" is based on trichordal, tetrachordal and hexachordal pith-class sets. These pitch-class sets create symmetrical forms by contrapuntal progressions. Figures and rhythms are varied by augmentation or diminution. These progressions are tightly organized not only each instrument but also between two instruments. Compositional concepts employed in this composition suggest an inevitability to 12-tone music. For this study, I first presented the works from Berg's three periods and then I analyzed this work focusing on its structural form and interaction of trichordal, tetrachordal and hexachordal pitch-class sets.
