Francis Poulenc의 <Franc¸ailles pour rire>에 관한 연구

Abstract

프란시스 뿔랑(Francis Poulenc,1899~1963)은 20세기 프랑스의 현대음악 발전에 큰 공헌을 한 대표적인 작곡가로서 많은 음악가와 비평가들에게 프랑스 예술가곡의 위대한 계승자로 평가되고 있다. 그는 관현악과 실내악, 피아노곡 등 기악곡뿐 만 아니라 합창과 가곡, 오페라 등의 성악곡에서 그 기량이 두드러진다. 뿔랑은 그의 가곡을 작곡 할 때에 주로 동시대 시인들의 작품을 사용하였다. 당대 초현실주의를 표방하는 대표적인 시인들로서 아폴리네르(Gaillaume Apollinaire, 1880~1918)과 엘뤼아르(Paul Eluard, 1885~1952)등이며 또한 그의 가곡 작품 세계에서 간과할 수 없는 시인으로 루이즈 드 빌모랭(Louise de Villmorin, 1902~1969)을 들 수 있다. 본 논문은 뿔랑의 <Françailles pour rire> (거짓 약혼식)에 대한 연구 논문으로 분석에 앞서 그가 활동한 20세기 프랑스 음악의 역사적인 배경을 살펴 본 후 그 당시 발발한 사건들에 의해 영향을 받고 나타난 대표적 문학 사조인 초현실주의를 조사하였다. 또한 그의 생애와 더불어 시기별로 변화한 음악적 스타일에 대해여 알아보고 그의 다양한 가곡 유형에 대하여 고찰하였다. 본론에서는 시인 빌모랭의 생애와 그녀의 작품들에 대하여 알아본 뒤 뿔랑의 가곡 들 중에서 드물게 여성의 목소리를 내고 있는 <Françailles pour rire> (거짓 약혼식)에 대하여 시와 음악의 관계를 분석, 연구하였다. 빌모랭의 시를 사용하여 시에서 말하고자 하는 바를 음악으로 승화시켜 나간 과정을 구조와 형식, 화성에 의한 분석을 통하여 초현실주의 시의 특성을 살려 그 단어의 느낌 있는 그대로를 음악적으로 승화한 뿔랑의 음악적 어법을 살펴보았다. 결론에서는 시와 음악의 관계를 분석하여 그것을 토대로 찾아낸 이 모음곡의 형식들과 시의 표현법, 그리고 뿔랑이 주로 사용한 음악적 스타일을 제시하였다.;Francis Poulenc (1899~1963), a French composer, who contributed to the development of French contemporary music in the 20thcentury, has been considered and recognized as a great successor of French art songs by many musicians and critics. He showed his outstanding talent in the field of instrumental music such as orchestral music, chamber music, and piano songs, as well as in the field of vocal music such as chorus, art songs and opera. It can be said that his music style shows the superb balance between the religious taste, which was from his father who was deeply religious, and the artistic taste, which was from his mother who was grown up with artistic family background. This is the reason why his art songs have the diversity from the lyrical ones to the solemn ones. This study is to analyze and examine the relations between poems and music of the art song ‘Françailles pour rire (fake engagement ceremony).’ The song is voiced by female, which is rare case among Poulenc’s songs. In addition, this study aims to examine the process of how the poem written by Louise de Villorin is sublimated in to music through structure, form, and harmony, while studying the musical diction that contains the vivid feeling of words based on the characteristics of the surrealistic poem.
