저가형 비접촉 포인팅 장치의 개발 및 이를 이용한 TV 인터페이스 연구

Abstract

가정의 거실은 미래 디지털 콘텐츠의 경연장이 될 것으로 예측되고 있다. TV는 점차 다양한 어플리케이션을 가지는 방향으로, 그리고 PC는 점점 TV의 역할을 하려고 하는 디지털 컨버전스 현상이 나타나고 있다. 거실에서의 디지털 기기의 사용은 PC의 사용과는 다르다. PC는 키보드와 마우스를 주로 이용하여 사용하지만, TV의 경우에는 소파에 편하게 앉아 리모콘으로 조작을 하는 것에 사람들이 익숙해져 있다. 이점이 거실에서 PC를 사용하는데 있어 중요한 장애요소이다. 반면, TV의 경우 리모콘의 단순한 입력방식의 한계성으로 인해, 단순히 TV를 시청하는 것 이상의 다양한 어플리케이션을 운용하는 것이 쉽지 않다. 현재 디지털TV시대에 걸 맞는 다양한 어플리케이션을 개발하려는 노력이 기울여지고 있으나, 입력장치의 단순함이 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 이렇게 거실에서 TV를 통해 다양한 어플리케이션을 이용하기 위해서는 컴퓨터에 사용하는 마우스처럼 쉽고 편하며 저렴한 포인팅 장치가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 TV 리모콘을 대체할 수 있는 저가형 비접촉 포인팅 장치를 개발하고 이를 TV 및 PC에서 원활하게 활용하기 위한 유저인터페이스(User Interface)에 대한 연구를 하고자 한다.;A living room is becoming a place for a contest of future digital contents. Television is gathering a variety of applications, and there is a digital convergence that PC is taking television’s roles. Use of digital device in the living room is different from that of a PC. PC usually uses a keyboard and a mouse, but people are used to use a remote control sitting on a sofa. This is an important obstacle using PC in the living room. However, the remote control is not proper to apply a variety of applications, more than television, due to its simple input process. Recently, there are great efforts to develop a variety of applications suitable to ‘Digital Television Generation’, but this simple input process is a hindrance. Therefore, to use a variety of applications through television in the living room a cheap pointing-device like a mouse in PC is needed. This research is to develop a low-price remote pointing-device to substitute television remote control, and study about user interface that smoothly utilizes in televisions and PC.
