베일리 영유아 발달검사 3판 수용언어 척도 한국 표준화를 위한 예비 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 한국판 베일리 영유아 발달 검사 3판의 수용 언어 척도를 제작하고, 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증과 문항 난이도 분석을 통하여 Bayley Scale of Infant and Toddler Development-Third Edition(Bayley-III) Receptive Communication Scale(Bayley, 2006)의 한국 표준화를 위한 기초 자료를 얻는 것을 목적으로 한다. 베일리 영유아 발달 검사 3판은 생후 16일부터 42개월 15일의 영유아를 대상으로 하는 종합적인 발달 평가 도구로, 인지척도, 수용언어/표현언어 척도, 대근육/소근육 운동 척도, 사회-정서 척도, 적응행동 척도로 구성되어 있다. 기존에 국내에서 사용되어 오던 아동의 언어 평가 도구들의 경우, 외국의 것을 그대로 사용하거나 양육자의 보고에만 의존하는 방식이거나 매우 개략적인 내용만을 다루고 있다. 따라서 베일리 영유아 발달 검사와 같이 검사자와 아동이 일대일로 상호작용하는 방식으로 시행되면서 아동의 발달에 대한 구체적이고 상세하면서도 포괄적인 내용을 담고 있는 구조화된 언어 평가 도구가 필요하며, 생후 16일부터의 어린 연령의 영유아부터 대상으로 하므로 발달 상 지연되고 있는 아동에 대한 조기 발견과 중재에 큰 기여를 할 것으로 보인다. 특히 3판은 언어척도가 인지척도와 분리되어 각 영역에 대한 정확한 평가가 가능해졌으며, 수용언어 척도와 표현언어 척도로 독립적으로 평가하고 있어 언어 발달 상 지연되는 부분에 대해 구체적으로 파악하는데 용이할 것으로 보인다. 한편, 원검사의 수용언어 척도는 영어를 바탕으로 문항이 제작되었으므로, 본 연구에서는 수용언어 척도의 번역 및 역번역 작업과 더불어 한국어 및 한국아동의 수용언어 발달 과정, 그리고 한국 문화 등에 대한 조사를 통해 원척도 중 이와 맞지 않는 부분에 대해서 확인하여 문항을 수정 또는 삭제하고, 10개의 보충문항(총 27개 항목)을 제작하여 추가하였다. 본 연구는 서울 및 서울 근교에 거주하는 1개월 15일에서 42개월 15일의 영유아 258명을 대상을 검사를 실시하여 246명의 자료를 바탕으로 수용 언어 예비 척도의 신뢰도와 타당도를 확인하고, 문항 분석을 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국판 베일리 영유아 발달 검사 3판 수용 언어 예비 척도의 문항 난이도를 분석한 결과, 기존의 문항 순서와 거의 비슷한 배열을 나타냈으나, 본 연구에서의 문항 난이도가 기존의 문항순서와 달라진 경우가 더러 있었다. 이는 한국어와 영어 간의 문법적인 차이, 한국과 미국 간의 문화적 차이, 검사 시행에서의 제약 등에 의한 것으로 보인다. 또한 본 연구에서 한국 아동의 수용언어 발달을 고려하여 추가한 보충문항에 대한 난이도를 확인하였는데, 척도에 실제 포함된다면 한국 아동의 수용언어 발달을 더욱 정확하게 평가하는 것이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서 논의한 문항들을 중심으로 향후 추가적인 검토가 이루어져 문항 수정 또는 재배치를 통한 난이도 조정이 필요할 것이다. 둘째, 한국판 베일리 영유아 발달 검사 3판 수용 언어 예비 척도의 신뢰도는 Cronbach α 계수가 .984로 강한 내적 합치도를 나타냈으며, 측정의 표준오차는 평균적으로 0.69에 해당하였는데, 이는 삭제한 문항을 제외한 원문항 총점 44점과 보충문항 총점 27점으로 전체 총점이 71점인 것을 감안할 때 우수한 신뢰도를 보여준다고 할 수 있다. 검사-재검사 신뢰도는 .977, 채점자간 신뢰도는 .999로 매우 높은 수준이었다. 셋째, 한국판 베일리 영유아 발달 검사 3판 수용 언어 예비 척도의 타당도 검증을 위해 우선 문항의 적절성에 대한 내용타당도 확인을 하였다. 본 척도가 언어를 다루고 있으므로 한국 아동의 언어 발달 및 한국어 문법에 맞지 않는 부분에 대해서 문헌 검토를 바탕으로 문항을 수정하고 보충문항을 추가로 제작하였는데, 이 과정에서 언어 및 발달심리 전문가 3인의 검토와 논의를 거쳤다. 본 척도의 공인타당도 검증을 위해 국내 언어 평가 도구 두 가지와의 상관을 확인한 결과, 취학전 아동의 수용언어 및 표현언어 발달 척도(PRES)의 수용언어 척도 총점과의 상관은 .702, 한국 웩슬러 유아지능검사의 언어성 검사 총점과의 상관은 .823으로 매우 높은 수준이었다. 본 연구에서는 한국 실정에 맞게 보충문항을 점수를 추가하여 분석하였는데 원척도와 마찬가지로 높은 수준의 신뢰도와 타당도를 확인할 수 있었다. 추후 연구에서는 추가적인 검토를 통하여 한국 아동에게 적합한 문항을 포함한 척도를 완성하고, 본 연구에서 모집하지 못한 생후 16일~1개월 15일 영유아를 포함한 전국의 한국 아동을 대상으로 지역적인 분포 및 환경적인 특성을 고려한 표집을 통하여 한국 규준을 개발해야 할 것이다.;The purpose of this study was to produce a preliminary Korean version of the Receptive Communication Scale of the Bayley-III and to verify it has significant reliability and validity and analyze the items to obtain the base data on the standardization of Korean Bayley-Ⅲ. The Receptive Communication Scale of the Bayley-III was translated English to Korean by the graduated school students of developmental psychology, and the bilingual, who can use Korean and English, did a back-translated. And then, through the investigation of Korean grammar, Korean children's receptive language developmental progress and Korean culture, inappropriate items were removed or modified. And additional 27 new items were produced. Participants were 246 infants and toddlers between 1-42months in Seoul and the suburbs. The Results of the study are as follows: 1. As a result of analysing the degree of item difficulty, it was shown that the item arrangement was nearly similar to the original scale's. However on the basis of start points, the item difficulty of this study was diffirent with original item arrangement in a few cases. It seems that this is because of grammatical and cultural difference between Korean and English, and administration constraint. Therefore through additional investigation of these items, it is necessary to modify and rearrange the items. 2. As a result of the analysis of reliability, Cronbach's α coefficient was .984 and the average of standard error of measurement was 0.69. The test-retest reliability showed a strong correlation as .977 and inter-scorer reliability also showed a strong correlation as .999. 3. First, the content validity was checked for adequateness of modified or added items in this study. Because this scale is of language, it was necessary to modify a few items and add new items for the part that is out of Korean children's language development and Korean grammar, and in that process 3 developmental psychology and language-related experts confirmed items. Also, the Receptive language subtest of Preschool Receptive-Expressive Language Scale(PRES) and preliminary Korean receptive communication scale of Bayley Ⅲ have a high correlation of .702. And Language subtest of Korean-Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence(K-WPPSI) and preliminary Korean receptive communication scale of Bayley Ⅲ also have a high correlation of .823. This study showed that the preliminary Korean receptive communication scale of Bayley Ⅲ is as reliable and valid as the original scale in evaluating receptive language development in Korean infants and toddlers.
