Johannes Brahms Viola Sonata No. 2 in E♭Major, Op. 120에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 고전형식에 신선한 예술미와 새로운 기교를 융합하여 독자적인 음악세계를 표현해 온 19세기 중기의 대표적인 작곡가 Johannes Brahms(1833-1897)의 Viola Sonata Op. 120, No. 2 작품을 연구분석하고 음악적 특징을 연구해 보고자 한다. Brahms는 고전적인 기법을 유지하면서 그만의 서정적이고 낭만적인 풍부한 감성을 효과적으로 융합시켜 자신의 음악세계를 구축하였다. 대체로 Brahms의 작품은 보편적으로 웅장하고 깊이가 있으며, 이는 그가 작곡 방식에 있어서 신중을 기했다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그는 4개의 교향곡과 관현악곡 등 많은 작품을 남겼고 실내악 분야에서도 24곡의 작품이 있다. 그 중에서 Violin Sonata 3곡, Cello Sonata 2곡,Clarinet Sonata를 그 자신이 Viola로 편곡한 Sonata 2곡은 많이 연주되고 있다. 특히 2곡의 Viola Sonata는 Brahms 말년의 몇 작품과 더불어 고전주의에 더 큰 비중을 둔 그의 가장 원숙한 작품들이다. 본 논문에서 다룰 Viola Sonata Op. 120, No. 2는 3개 악장으로 구성되어 있는데, 1악장은 고전적인 양식에 의한 전형적인 Sonata 형식으로 되어있고, 2악장은 Trio를 포함하는 Scherzo 악장으로 복합 3부 형식이고, 3악장은 주제와 5개의 변주곡을 포함하는 변주곡 형식으로 구성되어 있다. 연구분석의 방법은 문헌과 참고자료를 통하여 Brahms의 생애와 음악적 특징을 살펴본 후 본 논문에서 다룰 이 곡의 전 악장을 중심으로 동기의 전개방식, 형식, 화성진행, 리듬형태와 전개 등을 연구 분석하고자 한다.;In this thesis, Viola Sonata No. 2 in E♭ Major, Op. 120, the last chamber music composed by Brahms, is analyzed. Brahms is one of the greatest composers of the romantic period in the 19th century. He created his own music world by blending his rich and romantic sense with the classical form. Especially, the chamber music was the most fit genre for him among various forms of music such as symphony, ensemble, and concerto. This piece is composed of three movements. The first movement takes a traditional sonata form, the second movement is a scherzo form including trio and involves compound ternary form, and the third movement takes the form of a theme and five variations. As for the harmony, Brahms used chromatic harmonies in this piece such as the secondary dominant 7th chord, the secondary diminished 7th chord, the augumented 7th chord, etc. Also, the piece adopted romantic composition techniques such as the syncopation, the hemiola rhythm, and triplet rhythm. Including all the analysis mentioned above, the detailed review and analysis of Brahms'life, his chamber music and Violasonata.no.2 are presented in the thesis.
