Abstract
The researches into Ajaeng which started in late 1960's have been conducted from diverse perspectives so far, but few researches have focused on Jeongak. In particular, there has been no research on Dodri and Chuita. Accordingly, this study aimed at reviewing how Dodri had changed from the first Ajaeng score "Leewangjik Aakbubo" until late 20th century. The scope of this study was limited to Ajaeng melodies of Dodri and Chuita. Hence, the researcher reviewed "Leewangjik Aakbubo" Jeonganbo, "Korean Music Score" published by National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts (NCKTPR), "Scores of NCKTPR" written by Kim Gi-soo and "Kim Jeong-soo Score" collected by the author and thereby, compared their melodies. The reference data of scores were translated personally by the researcher for the sake of comparison. As a result of comparatively reviewing the above 4 scores, the following three phenomena could be confirmed; 1) segmentation of sound, 2) elongation of sound, 3) higher pitch of sound and 4) lower pitch of sound. The reference for comparison was "Leewangjik Aakbubo." The findings of this study can be summarized as follows; First, in terms of Dodri, "Korean Music Score" did not show segmentation of sound with swift melodies or divided time. "Score of NCKTPR" showed 61 swift melodies, while "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed far more or 81 ones. What is characteristic of segmented sound in Dodri, "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed only 13 ♩♪ rhythm type in its 1~4 chapters, but it increased rapidly to 8 ones in 5~7 chapters. In terms of Chuita, "Score of NCKTPR" did not show segmented sounds, while "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed many segmented sounds. "Korean Music Score" showed 18 segmented sounds, while "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed 45 ones. Such difference may well have been attributable to different characteristics involving changes of the scores or the results from differences among scores. What was most peculiar in the phenomenon of segmented Chuita sounds was the fact that the rhythm type ♪♩appeared in the first Jeonggan of chapters 2, 3, 4 and 5 and chapter 6 part 1. Second, in terms of elongated sounds of Dodri, "Korean Music Score" showed 2 cases, "Score of NCKTPR" 14 cases and "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed 11 cases, which means that the elongated sounds of Dodri increased as time went on. "Score of NCKTPR" was characterized by many elongated sounds with high pitch ones, while "Kim Jeong-soo Score" featured simple elongated sounds. In terms of Chuita, the phenomenon of elongated sounds in "Korean Music Score" and "Score of NCKTPR" was quite different from their cases of Dodri. In terms of elongated sounds in Chuita, "Korean Music Score" showed 32 cases, "Score of NCKTPR" 58 cases and "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed 3 cases. The reason why the elongated sounds were far less in "Kim Jeong-soo Score" may be estimated in relation with much more segmented sounds in the score. Third, another peculiar phenomenon was higher pitch of sound. "Korean Music Score" showed one such case, "Score of NCKTPR" 14 cases and "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed 8 cases. The higher pitch sounds of "Score of NCKTPR" were accompanied much by elongated sounds, while they were accompanied by segmented sounds in "Kim Jeong-soo Score." On the other hand, "Korean Music Score" and "Score of NCKTPR" showed 6 and 1 higher pitch sound cases, respectively, together with segmented sounds. "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed one case. All higher pitch sounds in "Korean Music Score" were accompanied by segmented sounds. Fourth, in terms of lower pitch sound of Dodri, "Korean Music Score" showed 4 cases of simple lower pitch sound, while "Score of NCKTPR" and "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed each 3 cases. "Korean Music Score" showed lower pitch sounds in Chapter 5 Part 6 only, unlike the other two scores. In terms of lower pitch sound of Chuita, "Korean Music Score" showed 3 cases, "Score of NCKTPR" 5 cases, and "Kim Jeong-soo Score" showed 5 cases. It was peculiar that the low pitch sound of Chuita was distributed evenly across all the subject scores. Upon analyzing the melodies, 4 characteristics of the melody changes were examined. The sounds changed into either higher or lower pitch, while the rhythms changed into segmented and elongated ones. So far, the melodies have been compared among 4 scores centering around Dodri and Chuita among Jeongak Ajaengbos. However, this study could not examine melodies of other instruments than Ajaeng or the melodies of Jeongak than Dodri and Chuita. Besides, the changed melodies need to be compared with the ancient scores before the subject ones. Hence, the results of this study may not well be generalized to all Jeongak melodies. So, it is hoped that this study will be followed up by future studies which will more comprehensively compare our traditional music melodies.;1960년대 후반부터 진행된 아쟁에 관한 연구는 현재까지 다양한 각도에서 진행되어 왔지만, 정악분야에 대해서는 그 연구가 많이 이루어지지 않고 있다.
