브룬스의 오르간 음악에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 독일 바로크 전성기 시대의 작곡가인 브룬스(Nicolaus Bruhns, 1665-1697)의 오르간 작품, 「Prelude in e minor」에 대한 연구를 통하여 그의 오르간 음악을 이해하는데 도움을 주고자 하는데 목적을 두었다. 브룬스는 북독일 악파의 중요한 작곡가 중 한 사람이자 뛰어난 바이올리니스트로 그의 이러한 음악적 배경은 작품들에 뚜렷이 나타난다. 그는 많은 장르의 곡들을 작곡한 것으로 알려져 있으나 그 중에 보존되어진 오르간 곡은 5곡에 불과한데, 이것마저도 바흐(Johann Sebastian Bach, 1685-1750)가 브룬스에게 깊은 존경심을 가지고 있었고 이런 존경심이 바흐가 브룬스의 가장 중요한 오르간 작품을 전해준 계기가 되었기에 가능했던 일이었다. 그 중 자유로운 형식의 작품인 「Prelude in G Major」, 두개의 「Prelude in e minor」, 도블링어(Doblinger) 판에 새로 추가된 「Prelude in g minor」 그리고 코랄에 기초한 작품인 코랄 환상곡「이방인의 구세주여, 어서오소서(Nun komm der Heiden Heiland)」가 있다. 작품의 연구에 앞서서 스벨링크(Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, 1562-1621)에게 직접 배웠거나 영향을 받은 북부 독일의 제자들을 중심으로 형성되었던 북독일 악파의 프렐류드와 코랄 환상곡의 형식과 특징을 살펴보고, 브룬스의 생애와 작품에 대해서 고찰해 보았다. 본 논문에서 연구한 「Prelude in e minor」는 북독일 환타지 스타일의 가장 인상적인 작품으로, 5부분으로 나누어지고, 토카타적인 특징을 많이 띠는 곡이다. 그 구성을 살펴보면 즉흥적인 도입부분의 토카타(Toccata)Ⅰ, 확고한 구성력이 돋보이는 대위법적인 푸가(fugue)Ⅰ, 연결구적인 성격을 띠는 토카타(Toccata)Ⅱ, 12/8박자의 축소된 푸가(fugue)Ⅱ, coda역할은 하는 짧은 토카타(Toccata)Ⅲ 로 되어있다. 브룬스의 이러한 오르간 음악은 그의 스승인 북스테후데(Dietrich Buxtehude, 1637-1707)에게 가장 많은 영향을 받았고, 브룬스의 영향은 다시 바흐에게로 이어진다.;The purpose of this study is to help to understand the work of Nicolaus Bruhns(1665-1697), the German composer in the glory days of Baroque era through the research on his organ piece, the prelude in e minor. N.Brunhs was one of the greatest composer in Northern German School. He was also an outstanding violinist and his musical background is clearly showing in his works. He was known to have composed many pieces of music in various genres, but only 5 organ pieces were preserved and even this much was possible due to the deep respect that J.S.Bach had for N.Bruhns, which occasioned J.S.Bach to bequeath to posterity the most important pieces of N.Bruhns organ music. Among them are prelude in G Major in free style, two e minor pieces, prelude in g minor which is the new addition to Doblinger and "Nun komm der Heiden Heiland", the choral fantasia which was based on choral. Before researching his works, I had a close look at the characteristics and composition of the choral fantasia and the prelude which is Nothern German School and investigated the life and other works of N.Bruhns. Prelude in e minor which was studied in this research, is the most impressive work among his works that is Northern German fantasy style. It is divided into five parts and takes on the character of Taccata. The composition of this piece consists of improvising introduction of toccataⅠ, contrapuntal fugueⅠwhich shows firm formation, toccataⅡ, and fugueⅡ, which have the role of passage, and short toccataⅢ which works as a coda. N. Bruhns's organ pieces were influenced mostly by his master, D. Buxtehude and his influence was passed onto J. S. Bach.
