Recently, the effective control on child protection agency is taking a growing interest and the role of child protective service workers is being given special emphasis. Therefore burn-out, satisfaction and intention of job-change of workers have become main topics of studies. In foreign studies, the secondary traumatic stress is considered the main reason of burn out and intention of job-change so the verification on factors on it is in the need to come up with the measures to prevent and overcome the secondary traumatic stress. And yet there are only 2 domestic studies on the level of the secondary traumatic stress, even being lack of approach to various factors on it while active studies on the reality of stress are in progress around the world. Accordingly, this study is focused on the level of the secondary traumatic stress for all child protective service workers and how factors (such as demographic/sociologic figures, life event, traumatic case of child abuse, social support and stress coping style) are likely to affect the stress. This is aimed to offer the basic data on the secondary traumatic stress of workers and find the solution to prevent or overcome the stress, ultimately provide maltreated children and their family with stable support . The study included the information from all child protective service workers throughout the nation’s child protection agencies , presently April, 2008, analyzing total 200 cases. Main result runs as following First, the child protective service workers’secondary traumatic stress level is average 28.07 points, higher than PTSD cut-off point 24/25 and 110 workers (55%) are included in PTSD. It indicates the stress of them is quite high. Secondly, when looking into variances of PTSD/ non-PTSD by PTSD cut-off point 24/25, there is a difference among pain level from shocking child abuse case, reason on no counseling after the case of shocking child abuse and stress coping style. Thirdly, regarding the secondary traumatic stress level according to each variance, it makes a difference as well with career experience in child protection agency, pain level from shocking child abuse case and stress coping style. Fourthly, considering the impact of each variance on the secondary traumatic stress, factors are such as life event, pain level from shocking child abuse case, the passing of time and stress coping style. Additionally, though statistically meaningless, more social support pursuit, solution-centered way among stress coping style leads to higher stress from secondary traumatic stress. It shows even for the worker seeking various ways of stress coping, it’s hard to find a proper way, so eventually ineffective to cope with the stress. It also displays that the support for workers are in fact not that useful. The study suggests theoretical and practical meaning of the following In the first place, it’s in the need of not the counter plan after the fact but the preventive approach. Active and concrete device is necessary, for example, the information and knowledge on the stress included in the training course for new workers. Second, the avoidance-centered way among stress coping style is critical factor so it’s helpful to have the program or the training course for small-grouped self-awareness and coping style change. In other words, middle management’s program for the stress control for workers should be operated. Third, we should find substantially helpful measures, for instance, giving workers the opportunity to regularly check their stress level and to talk with experts Fourth, systematic and qualified supervision is required for child protective service workers. The supervisor training can be a good way to make senior workers, team managers available for appropriate supervision. Lastly, not only the individual organization’s effort but also National Child Protective Agency’s are important for the sake of the practical meaning.;최근 아동보호전문기관의 효과적 관리에 대한 관심이 높아졌으며, 특히 아동보호전문기관에서 일하는 상담원의 역할이 강조되고 있으며, 상담원의 소진, 직무만족, 이직 의도에 대한 연구들이 활발히 진행되어 왔다.
