Carlos Salzedo의 Variation"Trois Morceaux"및 "Prelude for a Drama"에 대한 연구 분석

Abstract

By analyzing composer/harpist Carlos Salzedo's pieces, 'Trois Morceaux' and 'Prelude for a Drama', this thesis has focused on clarifying Carlos Salzedo's composing style and acknowledging his accomplishments as a harp composer. First, 'Trois Morceaux', a variation consisted of a theme and eleven chapters, is an early piece of Carlos Salzedo, composed in 1913. Although the piece has been composed within the classic frame regarding the classic form and variation methods, it also has a flavor of romanticism concerning non-harmonic tones, chromatic melody, and frequent transition. this proves that Carlos Salzedo's early pieces have been composed under the influence of labels of the Romanticism era and composers of the Impressionism era. the following is a brief explanation of the characteristics of the variation, 'Trois Morceaux'. The harmonic progress of the theme of this piece is almost identical with that of the eleven chapter and rhythm based on harmonic progress. Also, the piece comes out of the classical structure and gradually dives deeper into Romanticism as the later part shows more usage of non-harmonic tones, frequent post-classical transitions, and usage of irregular sections compares to that of the front part of the piece. This piece, which, as a whole, is made up of G major, shifts to E♭ major in the ninth chapter. this sort of tertian harmony key shift is a generally used method during the romanticism era. Another piece of Carlos Salzedo, 'prelude for a Drama', is late piece of his, composed in 1948. Unlike the piece analyzed above, one can realize that modern musical methods are frequently used in this piece. Regarding the structure, division is unclear and the lengths of the clauses are irregular. Reckoning the melody, not only the chromatic melody method, but also the augmented interval/diminished interval melody and parallel melody method is used throughout this piece. Considering the rhythm, one can find various form of rhythm including irregular time and hemiola rhythm. Concerning the formation, it can be said that the piece has modern characteristics due to the atonality formation lacking principal sound. Also, there are numerous modern musical executions of the harp invented by Salzedo throughout the piece.;본 논문은 석사과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회에서 연주했던 작품들 중 Carlos Salzedo의 Variation과 'Prelude for a Drama'를 분석 연구하고자 한다.Harpist이자 작곡가로서 Harp를 위한 곡을 많이 작곡하여 하프 음악 역사의 발전을 위해 큰 공헌을 한 인물 중 하나인 Carlos Salzedo의 생애와 작품 활동,그리고 그가 하프 음악에 끼친 영향들에 대해 알아보고자 한다.그의 생애 중 전반기 작품에 해당하는 Variation'Trois Morceaux'을 분석하여 그 곡에 나타난 그의 음악적 특징을 살펴보고자 한다.뿐만 아니라 그의 생애 후반기 작품인 'Prelude for a Drama'를 통해 작품의 특징과 전,후반기를 통해 비교한 두 작품의 공통적 특징과 대조적 특징,또한 그가 추구하고자 한 음악적 특성들과 주법,또 후반으로 감으로써의 나타나는 특성의 변화들을 이 논문을 통하여 연구해 보고자 한다. 우선 'Trois Morceaux'는 주제와 11개의 변주로 이루어진 변주곡으로 전체적으로 형식 및 변주 방법 등에 있어서는 고전적인 틀 안에서 작곡되었으나 비화성음, 반음계적 선율, 빈번한 전조 등으로 인하여 낭만주의적 특징을 보이며, 이는 그의 초기 작품이 낭만주의 시대의 라벨 및 인상주의 작곡가들의 영향을 받아 작곡되었음을 입증해 주고 있다. 다음으로 분석한 'Prelude for a Drama'는 앞의 변주곡과는 달리 현대적 기법이 많이 등장함을 알 수 있다. 우선 형식에 있어서도, 구분이 명확하지 않고 악구의 길이가 불규칙적으로 나타난다. 이제부터 본 논문에서 이렇게 서로 다른 시대의 두 작품을 비교 분석해 보고자 한다.
