Robert Schumann의 「Humoreske, Op. 20」연구

Abstract

본 논문은 필자의 석사 과정 이수를 위한 졸업 연주회의 곡목 중 슈만 (Robert Schumann 1810-1856)의 「유모레스크(Humoreske), Op. 20」에 관하여 연구한 것이다. 19세기 낭만주의 시대에는 이성을 중심으로 하는 고전주의의 형식에서 벗어나 작곡가의 주관적인 감정을 자유롭게 표현하기 시작했다. 따라서 음악에 문학을 접목한 자유주의 성향을 띤 곡들이 많이 작곡되었는데 이러한 성격을 잘 보여 주는 예로 성격 소품(character piece) 이 있다. 슈만은 19세기 전반에 걸쳐 활동한 낭만주의 작곡가들 중 성격 소품을 작곡하는 가장 대표적 작곡가로 자신만의 독특한 어법을 보여주었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 슈만의 피아노 음악 양식과 성격 소품의 특징을 알아보고 이러한 특징들이 잘 나타나는 작품인 「유모레스크, Op. 20」를 연구함으로써 악곡을 이해하는데 목적이 있다. 슈만의 성격 소품인 「유모레스크(Humoreske), Op. 20」은 1839년에 작곡된 곡으로 슈만 자신이 ‘대 유모레스크(Grosse Humoreske)’라고 칭했을 만큼 규모가 큰 대곡이다. 크게 5부분으로 나눌 수 있는데 각 부분은 또 다시 작은 부분들로 세분화된다. 각각 독립성을 가진 여러 개의 개성적인 부분들이 자유로이 진행되며 그 부분들은 여러 번 반복된다. 다양한 감정의 대조적인 연결은 작곡가의 극단적인 감정을 표현하지만 그것은 일관성 있게 나타난다. 슈만은 그의 가장 내적인 세계까지 자유롭게 표현하고자 음악외적 대상에도 몰두하여 피아노를 통해 그 감정을 음악에 잘 융화시킨 작곡가이며. 이러한 면에서 「유모레스크, Op. 20」은 낭만주의 음악의 대표적 특징이라 할 수 있는 작곡가의 주관적인 감정이 자유롭게 잘 표출되어 있는 위대한 작품이라 하겠다.;This study is about 「Humoreske, Op. 20」by Robert Schumann (1810-1856) as one of repertoires for my graduate recital to complete master degree in music. In 19th century, Romanticism allowed people to concentrate on an emotional and sentimental side of humanity, opposed to Classicism setting much value on rational view of life. This tendency also influenced a great deal in the field of music as well, making an efforts to combine romantic literature to the music such as Character Pieces. Robert Schumann, a main representative of the Romantic epoch in music throughout the 19th century, composed many character pieces reflecting his unique style. The purpose of this study is to figure out characteristics of Schumann's pieces for piano and his character pieces and understand 「Humoreske, Op. 20」 which well-reflects these characteristics by analyzing it. 「Humoreske, Op. 20」, one of Robert Schumann's character pieces, was composed in 1839. This great piece, once Schumann called as Grosse Humoreske, contains 5 different parts and each part is divided into sub parts. Each part has its own style while repeating and harmonizing freely with other parts. Various emotions are dramatically yet consistently connected to each other, representing Schumann's extreme feelings. He also focused on other fields apart from music to reflect his internal world and emotion without any limitation to the music through piano. In this regard, it is truly believed that「Humoreske, Op. 20」 is such a great piece that shows Schumann's spiritual world through a form of music in the epoch of romanticism.
