DTP 기법에 의한 니트웨어 디자인 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 최근 부각되고 있는 디지털 텍스타일 프린팅(digital textile printing: DTP) 기법을 중심으로 니트 디자인을 연구하고 작품을 기획, 제작하여 고부가가치 니트웨어 디자인의 새로운 방향을 제시하고 그 가능성을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 니트는 직물과 달리, 다양한 재질감을 가진 원사의 선택에 의하여, 또는 짜는 단계에서부터 구조를 변화시키거나 색상을 달리함으로써 디자인에 변화를 줄 수 있어 새로운 디자인의 가능성이 무궁무진하다. 또한 니트에 대한 선호도가 꾸준히 증가하고 있으므로 니트 디자인에 관한 실제적인 연구가 필요하며 미래 지향의 고부가가치 니트 디자인을 제시하기 위해서는 새로운 기법을 도입하여 고감도의 디자인을 개발하는 것이 중요한 시점이 되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 21세기의 새로운 산업과 문화 및 라이프스타일을 창출하는 디지털을 기반으로 한 DTP 기법을 중심으로 니트웨어 디자인을 연구하여 디자인을 기획하고 작품을 제작하였다. 연구방법으로는 문헌자료와 시각자료, 인터넷 사이트의 자료를 중심으로 니트와 DTP 기법에 대한 일반적 이론을 살펴보았고 니트 디자인 사례들을 연구하였다. 특히 업계의 현실에 기반을 둔 연구를 수행하기 위해 연구자는 니트웨어 프로모션업체인 J패션에서 직접 일하면서 전 과정을 익힌 후 이를 기반으로 니트웨어 디자인을 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 니트 제작 단계에 따라 니트 디자인의 변화를 줄 수 있는 요소로서 원사의 특성에 의한 디자인, 조직의 변화에 의한 디자인, 색채의 조화에 의한 디자인으로 나누어 사례를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그리고 DTP 기법에 의한 니트 디자인을 연구하였는데 먼저 DTP 기법의 원리와 특징, 공정 및 장단점 등에 관해 고찰한 후 DTP 기법에 의한 니트 디자인 사례를 프린트 모티프의 유형 중심으로 살펴본 결과, 주로 자연 풍경이나 동물, 사물 등의 자연스러운 모티프에 인위적인 터치를 가하지 않고 프린트하는 내추럴 스타일(natural style), 줄무늬, 원 무늬, 체크무늬 등 기하학적인 선으로 구성된 모티프를 주제로 한 지오메트릭 스타일(geometric style), 보는 방법에 따라 다르게 보이도록 하는 시각 효과를 일으키는 트롱프 뢰유 스타일(trompe l'oeil style)이 많았고 이 외에도 다양한 표현들이 있었다. 이상의 연구를 기반으로 하여 DTP 기법에 의한 5점의 니트웨어를 기획, 실물로 제작하였다. 먼저 DTP 기법에 적절한 니트 프린트 7점을 디자인하였는데 디지털 지오메트리(digital geometry)를 컨셉으로 하여 세련되고 도시적인 모던 감각을 구현하였다. 니트웨어는 60년대의 환영(sixties' illusion)을 컨셉으로 하여 풍요롭고 낙천적인 미래를 표현하였다. 타깃은 10대 후반부터 20대 후반까지의 연령대로 자유분방한 사고와 진취적인 라이프스타일을 영위하는 오픈 마인드의 여성으로 하였으며 니트웨어의 활동성을 추구하면서도 개성을 표현하고자 하는 여성에게 적합한 스타일로 디자인하였다. 스타일은 디자인 컨셉을 살리고 프린트에 초점을 맞추기 위해 심플한 것으로 하였으며 A라인의 니트 원피스 2점과 A라인 니트 하프코트 2점, H라인의 니트 울트라미니 원피스 1점을 기획하였다. 전반적으로 유사한 심플 스타일에 프린트 디자인과 니트 조직을 차별화하여 강조하였다. 색상은 짙은 자주(deep purple)를 배경으로 하고 아이보리 바탕 위에 비비드 톤의 오렌지, 바이올렛, 그린, 브라이트 그린, 레드, 옐로 등으로 생동감있게 표현하였다. 원사는 아이보리 색의 100% wool 소재를 사용하여 컴퓨터 편기와 수편기로 편성하였다. 니트 조직은 5점 모두 앞, 뒤 각각 다른 조직으로 하였으며 각각의 조직은 입체적인 텍스처가 살아있는 것으로 선택하여 이 조직에 프린트함으로써 프린트 디자인과 조직이 조화를 이루어 니트웨어만의 독특한 텍스처와 고급스러움을 표현하였다. 또한, 토탈 코디네이션(total coordination)을 위해 동일한 프린트의 부츠와 스카프를 DTP 기법으로 함께 제작하였다. 부츠는 롱부츠와 반부츠 두 스타일로 하여 양가죽에 프린트하였고 스카프는 100% 실크 시폰에 프린트하여 니트웨어와 부츠, 스카프 간에 질감의 대비와 프린트의 연계성이 조화를 이루며 서로 다양하게 크로스 코디네이션할 수 있게 하여 상품의 부가가치를 더하였다.;The purpose of this study is to show a new vision for high value-added knitwear design by representing and producing print design for DTP and knitwear design by digital textile printing. Knit design has a diversity, different from woven fabric, because it is possible to change the design by choosing the yarn with various texture or by varying its construction while knitting. Because of this, preferring knitwear continues to increase. Therefore it is important to study knitwear design practically, try a new technique, and represent creative design. This thesis was completed focusing on knitwear design by DTP which based on digital making a new industry, culture, and lifestyle in a new millenium and represented and produced knit prints and knitwears. As a method of the study, visual and textural data were investigated for theory of knit and DTP and a wide variety of knit design samples were illustrated. Especially, to perform a study based on the industry, this researcher worked and experienced at J fashion Ltd., knitwear promotion company. Knit designs were classified by design process in this study. Firstly, design focusing on characteristics of the yarn, Secondly, structural design by varying knitting method, thirdly, color design by various color of yarn. Among techniques of knit design, designs by DTP were investigated. As a result of investigating knit design by DTP, three groups were dominant and they were natural style, geometric style, and trompe l'oeil style. Natural style is printing of natural motives such as landscape, animal, or things, geometric style with simple and modern image is that of motives consisted of geometric lines such as stripe, dot, or check pattern, and trompe l'oeil style is that of making an optical illusion. Based on this result of the study, 7 knit prints for DTP and 5 knitwears were designed and produced. The concept of knit print was digital geometry and specified chic and city modern image. In case of knitwear, the concept was sixties' illusion and represented rich and optimistic future image. Target was city adult group from the late teens to the late twenties and keeping open mind and active lifestyle and enjoying the activity and unique characteristics of knitwear. This study has developed knitwear study by design process and presented many examples with detailed photos to make references for designers. Also, DTP technique which has been generally applied to woven fabric or circular knit was used for flat knitted fabric. The diverse knit print designs suitable for DTP were presented and knitwears by these prints were produced. This is of great significant in opening a new way of high value-added knitwear design.
