TV드라마 <황진이>의 服飾과 色彩연구

Abstract

본 연구는 TV드라마의 사극 <황진이(2006)>에 나타난 주인공 황진이의 복식과 그 색채의 상징성을 연구하고, 나아가 한복의 새로운 감각적 디자인을 탐구하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 방법은 TV드라마 <황진이(2006)>의 주인공 황진이 복식을 중심으로 각 장면에 따른 인물의 의복·장신구·머리모양·화장 등의 총체적인 복식을 살펴보았고, TV드라마 <황진이(2006)>의 국내외 문헌자료 및 DVD·잡지·회화(繪畵) 등의 시각자료를 중심으로 주인공 황진이의 복식과 그 색채에 표현된 상징성을 고찰하였다. 드라마 주인공인 황진이(黃眞伊)는 조선시대 초기의 16세기 인물이지만, 기녀의 복식이 가장 화려하고 매혹적인 시기인 조선시대 후기의 18세기가 복식사적 배경으로 표현되었다. 18세기의 기녀 복식은 넓은 허리말기를 중심으로 거대한 트레머리와 밀착된 저고리, 둥글게 부풀어 오른 치마의 대비로 굴곡이 심한 윤곽선을 형성하는 상박하후(上薄下厚)의 형태이다. 따라서 본 논문의 복식사적 배경은 TV드라마 <황진이(2006)>에 표현된 18세기를 연구하였다. 먼저, 주인공 황진이의 복식을 살펴보면 기녀가 되기 전과 후의 경계가 명확하게 구분되어짐을 알 수 있다. 황진이의 동기 시절 복식은 양반집 규수와 같이 단아한 이미지이지만, 수놓인 허리띠와 노리개를 통해 화사한 동기의 이미지를 암시하고 있다. 기녀 시절의 복식은 반회장저고리를 사용하여 그녀의 내면을 담아내었고, 황진이를 상징하는 매화문을 저고리에 프린트하여 그녀의 심리 변화를 상징적으로 나타내었다. 또한 둔부를 풍만하게 강조한 거들치마의 실루엣은 율동감을 부가하여, 매혹적인 기녀의 모습을 연출하였다. 황진이의 재예에 대한 꿈과 열정을 표현한 복식에는, 동기 시절의 수련복 과 기녀가 되어 입는 학춤의 무복이 있다. 수련복은 저고리와 무릎길이의 치마 사이로 무지개 색 친의가 은은히 비치어 하늘로 비상할 것 같은 선녀의 이미지를 연출하였다. 학춤의 무복은 흰색의 저고리와 치마에 학 날개 형태의 소매를 부착하여 고결한 학의 이미지로 나타내었고, 치마에서부터 소매까지 만개한 붉은 매화문은 수련을 통해 춤이 완성되어가는 과정을 암시하며 무복 허리띠의 색채 변화는 그녀의 춤이 정점에 올랐음을 상징적으로 표현하고 있다. 다음으로, 주인공 황진이의 복식 색채를 살펴보면 오방색을 통하여 심리 변화가 뚜렷하게 구분되어지는 것을 알 수 있다. 동기 시절의 파란색은 예인에 대한 꿈과 순수한 열정을 지닌 동기의 이미지로 나타내고 있다. 기녀 시절의 주요 색채는 빨간색으로, 기녀로 화려하게 성장한 황진이의 모습은 빨간색의 의복을 통해 그녀의 정열적이고 매혹적인 이미지를 표현하였다. 또한 화려한 의복의 기녀들 사이에서 홀로 검은색 의복을 입은 황진이의 모습은 당당하고 지성적인 면모를 더욱 두드러지게 하며, 벽계수를 유혹할 때 입은 노란색의 저고리는 요부 이미지를 담아내고 있다. 드라마의 마지막 장면에서, 하늘을 배경으로 춤을 출 때 입은 흰색의 저고리와 배자는 그녀가 더 이상 화려한 기녀가 아닌 진정한 예인으로 거듭났음을 암시하여 주는 색이다. 본 연구는 TV드라마 <황진이(2006)>를 통해 사극 장르에서 전통 복식과 그 색채의 중요성을 인식하고, 그 속에 표현된 복식과 색채의 상징성을 연구하였다.;The purpose of this study is to research the symbolism of a main character Hwang Jin-Yi's costume and the color shown in the historical TV drama <Hwang Jin-Yi (2006)>, and further to search for the new sensuous design of current Hanbok (Korean costume). As a researching method, it is focusing on the main character Hwang Jin-Yi's costume shown through TV drama <Hwang Jin-Yi (2006)>, and centered whole images including character's clothing at each scene, decoration, hair style, and make up, etc. We further refer to the domestic and abroad literature of TV drama <Hwang Jin-Yi (2006)> with other visual sources including DVD, magazines, paintings, etc. The heroin of drama, Hwang Jin-Yi was a character of the early years of Chosun Dynasty in the 16C. This TV drama however shows the historical setting of the most gorgeous and fascinating day's Ginyoe (Gisaeng) costume in the latter of 18C Chosun Dynasty. The physical beauty of fascinating 'upper tight-lower broad' expresses the costume in the latter of 18C Chosun Dynasty. Historical research is important for the costume of historical drama at those days, but Hwang Jin-Yi's costume was designed with modern sense for the gorgeous social standing of Ginyeo. Firstly, when seeing the main character Hwang Jin-Yi's costume, there is a clear difference between before and after of being a Ginyeo. When she was a child Ginyeo, her costume was elegant like upper class's maiden image, but she simultaneously intimates the image of pompous child Ginyeo through her embroidered Heoritti (women's chest band) and Norigae (women's pendant). After becoming a Ginyeo, her costume contains her internal mentality wearing Banhuejangjeogori (the collar, cuffs and breast-ties are different color from the bodice), and her ume flower pattern Jeogori (jacket) which symbolizing herself expresses the image of her mental varieties. The plumpish hip-emphasized Geodulchima silhouette adding the rhyuthmical beauty with the dynamic image from the silent image of traditional costume shows her fascinating Ginyeo's image. There are costume that expressed the dream and passion for her artistic talent, a training clothing for a child Ginyeo and a dancing clothing for the dance of a crane wearing when she became Ginyeo. The training clothing showed the rainbow colored Chinui (underwear) through knee-length long Chima (skirt) so that it looks a fairy who is ready roaring up to the sky. Dancing clothing for the dance of a crane expresses the image of noble crane with the white clothing attached the crane-wing shaped sleeves. Full blown red ume flower pattern from Chima to sleeves intimates the dancing process of perfection, and the varied girdle color shows symbolically her dance has reached to the height of her prosperity. Secondly, looking into the color of Hwang Jin-Yi's costume, her mental varieties clearly divided through the multi-colored stripes. The blue clothing she wore when a child Ginyeo showed her dream and pure passion for being an artist. At the Hwang Jin-Yi's Ginyeo days, her main color was red, and she expresses fully grown gorgeous Ginyeo's appearance with passion and fascinating image through the red clothing. Her appearance with a black clothing alone among the gorgeous Ginyeos distinguished a majestic and intellectual features, and the yellow Jeogori she wears to tempt Byokgyesu expresses the image of an enchantress. At the end of the drama scene, the white Jeogori and Baeja (vest) when dancing against the sky, the color intimates that Hwang Jin-Yi is no more a gorgeous Ginyeo but a reborn true artist. This study was to understand the importance of traditional costume and its color in the historical drama through TV, and also studied the symbolism of the costume and the color expressed in the TV drama of <Hwang Jin-Yi (2006)>.
