자기결정성이론에 근거한 한국형 기본심리욕구척도 개발 및 타당화

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to develop a Korean version of the basic psychological need scale(BPNS) for adolescents and to examine its validity. In addition to the validation process, test of psychometric equivalence of the scale across school levels was also another purpose of this study. The theoretical framework of the BPNS is based on the Self-Determination Theory by Ryan and Deci(1985, 2000). The Ryan and Deci's(2002, 2004) original BPNS was designed to assess three basic needs, i. e., need for autonomy, need for competence, and need for relatedness. To incorporate the specificities of the Korean culture, students' conceptions on the autonomy, competence, and relatedness, which were collected through open-ended questions, were also evaluated. To properly adapt the original scale, translation and back-translation procedures were adopted. In a pilot study, a questionnaire consisted the adapted original items and open-ended questions were administered to 330 middle and high school students. Following the statistical analyses for the items and examinations of content validity of the items via small group review and discussion sessions, 54 items(18 autonomy items, 17 competence items, 19 relatedness items) were retained for a preliminary scale. The 206 high school students' responses to the preliminary scale were statistically analyzed to evaluate the items and the sub-scale quality. The analysis of the preliminary data resulted in 33 items(11 items of autonomy, 10 items of competence, 12 items of relatedness), which then administered to 1055 middle and high school students from the various regions in the nation. The results of the qualitative analysis of the open-ended questions on the conceptions of the three factors revealed that the Korean adolescents' perceptions on the concepts of autonomy and competence were not independent. Nevertheless, the content and construct similarity of the original and the Korean version were confirmed via qualitative and quantitative analyses. Statistical analyses of the item and scale quality through reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and criterion-related validity analyses revealed that the final 18-item(6 items autonomy, 6 items competence, 6 items relatedness) Korean BPNS was a proper measure for the Korean adolescents' basic needs. In addition, psychometric equivalence across the school levels was also confirmed to suggest that the Korean BPNS can be used in both groups of students simultaneously.;본 연구에서는 자기결정성이론의 핵심개념인 인간의 세 가지 심리 욕구를 측정하는데 사용하기 위해 Ryan과 Deci(2002, 2004)가 개발한 “기본 심리 욕구 척도”를 번역과 역 번역, 그리고 타당화를 포함한 번안 과정을 거쳐 한국형 척도로 개발하고자 하였다. 특히 한국의 고유한 문화적 특성을 반영한 한국형 기본 심리 욕구 척도를 개발하기 위하여 문항작성을 위한 자료수집 과정에 질적 연구 방법을 포함시켰다. 한국의 중·고등학생을 대상으로 Pilot 검사, 예비시행, 그리고 본시행을 거쳐 문항을 개발하고 문항분석과 척도분석, 그리고 신뢰도, 타당도를 검증을 거쳐 최종 18문항의 자기결정성이론에 근거한 한국형 기본 심리 욕구척도를 개발하였다. 본 연구의 자료 분석절차 및 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, Ryan과 Deci에 의해 제작된 기본 심리 욕구 척도를 번역과 역번역을 거치고, 개방형 질문과 함께 Pilot 검사를 실시하였다. 이 후 한국의 청소년들의 이해 정도를 고려하여 기존의 문항을 이론적으로 허용되는 범위 안에서 수정하고 개방형 질문을 통해 얻어진 자료를 바탕으로 문항을 개발하였다. 둘째, 번안된 원척도의 문항과 새로 개발된 문항은 예비시행과 본 시행을 거치면서 최종적으로 자율성의 경우 새로 제작된 1문항, 원래 척도의 5문항이 선정되었고, 유능감의 경우는 기존 문항과 개발된 문항이 3문항씩 선정되었으며, 관계성의 경우는 새로 제작된 2문항과 기존 척도의 4문항이 선정되었다. 셋째, 최종 선정된 문항에 대하여 확인적 요인분석을 통해 각 하위요인들에 대한 일차원성 가정을 검증하고, 하위 요인들의 내적합치도를 측정하기 위하여 하위 요인의 총점과 문항간 상관분석 및 Cronbach의 값을 산출한 결과 자율성은 =.70, 유능감은 =.75, 그리고 관계성은 =.79이고, 모든 문항들의 문항 총점간 상관도 .30에서 .60이하 사이 값으로 적절하였다. 넷째, 중학생과 고등학생이 기본 심리 요구척도에 대하여 동일한 요인구조를 보이는지를 살펴보기 위해 다집단 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 형태동일성, 측정동일성, 척도동일성을 확인하였다. 다섯째, 중학생과 고등학생에 따른 각 하위 요인에서의 차이를 알아보기 위해 잠재평균분석을 실시하였으며, 두 집단 간에 유의미한 잠재평균의 차이가 없는 것을 확인하고, 본 검사를 통해 제작된 “기본 심리 욕구 척도”가 중학생과 고등학생에게 동등하게 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 여섯째, 본 척도의 각 하위 요인의 준거관련타당도를 알아보기 위해 다른 동기척도들과의 상관분석과 회귀 분석을 실시하여 자율성, 유능감, 그리고 관계성의 척도의 공준타당도 증거가 있음을 확인 하였으며, 뿐만 아니라 자기결정성이론에 근거한 한국형 기본 심리 욕구척도가 외적인 준거변수인 청소년의 심리적 안녕감을 예측하는 유용한 변수임을 확인하였다.
