Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동척도의 한국 표준화를 위한 예비 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley-III and inspect the reliability and validity of the scale to serve as the foundation for future Korean standardization studies. A preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley-III was created through translation of the original from English to Korean by development psychology graduate students followed by proof-reading by a Korean-English bilingual and reverse translation back into English for final verification. In addition, 54 infants and toddlers between 16 and 38 months from the Metropolitan Seoul area were selected as test subjects to obtain data to verify the reliability and validity of the preliminary Korean fine motor scale. The Results of the study are as follows: 1. The average of the preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley-III showed to be higher in the relatively higher age category with the average of the scale being 14.28 which was higher than the standardized scale studies done in the United States. The level of education of the parents did not show a significant correlation with total score and gender comparison also did not show a significant correlation with scores in the fine motor scale nor with scores in the total motor scale. However, due to the low number of test subjects with parents with a high level of education, it is difficult to assume that these results are representative of infant toddler data. 2. Although examination of the pass rate of the preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley III showed question arrangement to be correctly placed in order of difficulty, to arrange the questions to better accommodate the characteristics of Korean infants and toddlers, a few of the questions may need to be modified. In interpreting these results, it will be necessary to take the effects of education and the high average level of education of the examinee's parents into account. 3. The split-half reliability test was used to test the reliability of the preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley III and results show that reliability was relatively high with a coefficient of .887 and an average error of 1.87. Test-retest reliability and rater-examiner reliability also showed to be high with coefficients of .839 and .888 respectively. 4. The validity of the preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley III was checked by calculating the correlation coefficient between the total score of the preliminary Korean version of the Fine Motor scale of the Bayley III and the total score of the Motor scale of the Bayley III and the results showed a significantly high correlation of .790. In addition, in order to verify concurrent validity of the scale, the correlation between the motor scale of Korean infant and toddler development and the fine motor scale was calculated and the results showed a significant correlation of .440. Though testing for reliability and validity, this study showed that the preliminary of the Bayley III is as reliable and valid as the original scale in evaluating fine motor development in infants and toddlers. There is however, a need to continue research in regard to the difficulty of the questions though future studies with infants and toddlers of a more various age range as well as further standardization studies in order to develop better Korean criteria.;본 연구는 베일리 영유아 발달검사 3판 소근육 운동 척도를 번역하고, 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하여 Bayley Scale of Infant and Toddler Development-Third Edition (Bayley III) Fine Motor Scale(Bayley, 2006)의 한국 표준화 연구의 기초 자료를 얻는 것을 목적으로 한다. Bayley III 영유아 발달검사에서는 운동척도가 소근육 운동척도와 대근육 운동척도로 나뉘어 보다 상세하게 측정할 수 있도록 구성이 되었으며 소근육 운동척도에는 BSID II의 정신척도와 운동척도의 일부와 새로운 문항의 추가로 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 발달 심리학 전공 석사 과정 학생들에 의한 번역과 한국어-영어 이중 언어 사용자의 번역 검토 및 역번역 작업을 통해 Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동 예비 척도를 제작하였고, 서울과 서울 근교의 16개월에서 38개월 사이의 영유아 54명을 대상으로 검사를 실시하였고 그 결과 점수를 산출하여 본 검사 소근육 운동척도의 신뢰도와 타당도를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동 예비 척도의 평균은 월령이 더 높은 집단에서 다소 더 높게 나왔으며 소근육 운동 예비척도 환산점수의 평균이 14.28로 산출되었다. 이는 평균 환산점수를 10으로 놓은 본 검사의 미국기준과 비교하면 매우 높은 점수가 산출된 것이다. 부모학력에 및 아동의 성별에 따른 본 검사 수행의 차이를 살펴본 결과 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 그러나 이러한 결과는 검사 대상의 부모의 학력수준이 높고 집단의 수가 적다는 점으로 인해 결과를 한국 영유아의 평균적인 수치로 단언하기는 어렵다. 둘째, Bayley III 영유아 발달검사소근육 운동 예비 척도의 문항통과율을 살펴본 결과, 우리나라 영유아의 특성에 맞는 난이도로 배열하려면 몇몇 문항에서 배열의 수정을 고려해볼 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 교육의 효과와 피험자 부모의 평균 학력수준이 높은 점들을 모두 고려하여 해석해야 할 것이다. 셋째, Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동 예비 척도의 신뢰도는 반분신뢰도 방법을 사용하였는데 결과가 r= .887로 높은 수치가 산출되었으며, 측정의 표준오차는 1.87로 나왔다. 1-2주를 기간으로 한 검사-재검사 신뢰도는 r= .839로, 채점자-검사자간 신뢰도는 r= .888 로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동 예비 척도의 타당도는 Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동 예비 척도의 총점과 운동척도의 총점간의 상관계수를 산출하여 알아보았는데 그 결과 r= .790으로 상관이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 공인타당도 확인을 위해 한국형 영유아 발달검사의 운동척도를 실시하여 미세운동척도와의 상관을 알아본 결과 r= .440으로 유의미한 상관을 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 Bayley III 영유아 발달검사 소근육 운동 예비 척도의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증해 본 결과, 원검사와 비교하였을 때와 마찬가지로 본 검사가 영유아의 소근육 운동 발달을 측정하기에 타당하며 신뢰로운 도구라는 것을 확인하였다. 그러나 더 많은 수의 다양한 월령의 집단을 대상으로 후속연구가 필요할 것이며 궁극적으로는 표준화 연구를 통해 한국 규준의 개발이 있어야 할 것이다.
