韓國說話에 나타난 援助者 硏究

Abstract

說話에 대한 硏究는 그동안 기록문학과의 관계 및 구비문학으로서의 설화자체에 대한 연구등으로 행해지고 있다. 이러한 작업의 일환으로 本 論文에서는 說話속에 등장하는 인물중 주인공을 도와주는 <援助者>의 구체적인 인물분석을 했다. 이야기에는 주인공을 도와주는 人物群이 있는데 그러한 인물이 어떠한 성격을 갖고 등장하여 무엇을 하는가를 分析하는 것은 이야기의 내면구조나 설화를 향유하던 계층들의 의식구조를 추출할 수 있기 때문에 의의가 있다고 생각된다. 이러한 연구목적에 입각하여 本 論文은 다음과 같이 진행된다. Ⅰ章에서는 한국설화에 사용되는 援助者의 槪念을 서구의 원조자 槪念과 비교하여 說明하고 Ⅱ章에서는 본격적인 원조자의 내용을 분석했다. 원조자를 초월적원조자, 인간 원조자, 동물 원조자로 나누고 그것을 다시 원조자의 형태와 성격에 따라 세분하여 검토했다. Ⅲ章에서 원조자의 의미나 기능을 비교하여 韓國 說話에 등장하는 원조자의 성격을 파악하였다. 그 결과 援助者는 주인공이 문제나 위기를 맞이하여 스스로 해결할 수 없는 상황에 등장하여 사건을 해결하고 주인공을 위기에서 구해주어 福과 富를 얻을 수 있도록 도와준다. 도와주는 형태는 直接 나타나서 주인공을 도와주는 경우와 꿈을 통해 現夢하여 豫言을 하거나 사건의 해결책을 제시해 주는데, 이것은 주로 초월적 원조자에게서 나타나고 있다. 초월적 원조자는 불가능을 가능하게 하는 비현실적인 도움을 주는데 이때 주인공은 至誠을 드려서 자신의 請하거나 주인공의 착하고 孝誠스런 心性으로 하늘이 감동하기를 바라며 이것은 민중의 원초적인 사유를 그대로 표출한 것이라고 하겠다. 그리고 인간 원조자는 인간관계를 통해서 현실적인 도움을 주는데 특히 報恩的인 성격을 띤다. 마지막으로 동물 원조자는 동물의 속성과 인간신앙을 바탕으로 형성되었으며 단순한 동물이 주는 현실적인 도움과 영험있는 동물이 주는 비현실적인 도움이 있는데 이것은 인간이 인식한 동물의 상징성과 인간과의 관계에서 형성된 것이다. 이때도 역시 주인공의 心性에 의한 感化萬物이라는 원시적인 사유에 의해서 원조자가 형성되었다. 결국 援助者는 주인공을 돕는 사람으로 이야기내에서 사건을 해결해주거나 단서를 제시해주는 豫示的인 기능을 한다. 이것은 인간신앙이나 원초적인 사유 그리고 儒, 佛敎등의 諸宗敎가 결합되어 그 의미를 드러낸다. 따라서 援助者는 민중들의 구원의식의 표출이라고 하겠다. 따라서 敍事文學에 등장하는 人物로서 援助者의 연구는 구친의식의 표출이라는 면에서 문학사의 맥락 또는 우리의 의식구조의 일단을 이해한다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 하겠다.;The study of the narratives(or legendary litereature) has showed good progress by the study on the relation of narratives with the documentary literature and the study of the narratives as folklore. This paper aims to study the concrete characters by analysis of the supporter who helps the hero in the narratives. It seems to be important to analyze the characteristics ana behaviors of the supporter, which give us the informations about the inner structure of story and the classes who enjoyed the narratives. The contents of this paper are as follow; Chapter 1 includes the explanation of the concept of supporter in Korean narratives by comparing those in the Western countries. In chapter 2, there is detailed analysis of the supporter. In this anlysis, the supporters are classified into the transcendental supporter, the human supporter and the animal supporter, an each one is devided into forms and characteristics respectively. In chapter 3, there are the functions and meanings of the supporter in Korean narratives. As the result, the supporter makes his appearance when the hero is in trouble and can not solve the problem. He helps the hero to be out of the crisis and gives happiness and wealth to to the, hero. The ways of helping are as follows; the supporter makes his appearance personally or gives prophecy and solution by appearing in dream, which can be easily found in the transcendental supporter. The transcendental supporter gives the unrealsitic help which enables to make impossible things possible and the hero prays for his wish or wants Heaven to help him by his filial devotion and virtue. In this, we can see the true appearances of common people. The human supporter gives realistic help through human realtionship and it has the tendency of repayment of kindness. The animal supporter is formed on the basis of attributes of animals' and popular beliefs. The help of the animal supporters can be divided into two types : one is simple realsitic help by common animal and the other is unrealistic help by miraculous animal. These two are formed by the relationship between human being and symbols of animal. At this time, helping is possible by the hero's moving the nsture through his virtues. The supporter who helps the hero gives the solution of problem or does the function of prophecy that presents the clues for solving the problem. In this, popular beliefs and many kinds of religions such as Confucianism and Buddhism are combined, and reveals its meaning. In other word, the supporter express the sense of relief of people. Therefore the study of the supporter as the character in descriptive literature is significant because it expresses our sense of relief and can be connected with history of literature and structure of human sense.
